"This case is really complex; I doubt anyone but Attorney Qin would take it."
"I haven’t seen Attorney Qin this annoyed with a client in a long time. It seems like this client is intentionally avoiding the truth."
"He’s still lingering in the reception area, making it so frustrating."
"Ugh, it’s so annoying; we can’t get through to him..."
In the tea room, the air was thick with complaints as the employees vented their frustrations while waiting for the coffee to brew. Qin Sui’an stood at the door, peeking in at three older sisters inside. One of their voices sounded familiar, like the assistant who called her Third Brother.
With her big, curious eyes, Qin Sui’an cautiously observed them. The employees were so engrossed in their chatter that they didn’t notice her small figure at the door, their voices fluctuating between restrained and excited.
Feeling bold since she wasn’t interrupting, Qin Sui’an walked in, drawn by the enticing smell of coffee, and approached the coffee machine on her tiptoes, her tiny hands reaching for the table edge. At her height, both the coffee machine and the cups were out of reach.
Just as she was about to ask for help, one of the older sisters spotted her. The assistant noticed movement out of the corner of her eye, turned, and gasped, "Ah!"
How did a little girl get here? Wait! Isn’t that the little girl Attorney Qin was holding when he came to work?
Recognizing Qin Sui’an, the assistant hurried over, squatting down beside her. "Hello, little sister! Are you thirsty?"
Qin Sui’an shook her head. "Ann isn’t thirsty; Third Brother is thirsty." She pointed at the coffee machine and sweetly added, "Third Brother needs a cup of coffee~"
The assistant paused, realizing, Third Brother? Attorney Qin?
"Oh no! I forgot to prepare coffee for Attorney Qin this morning!" She rushed to grab his coffee cup from the cupboard, rinsing it carefully as she scrambled to make the coffee he always drank.
The other two employees were completely dumbfounded upon seeing the little girl. They exchanged worried glances, internally screaming: Oh no... we were just gossiping, and now Attorney Qin’s sister heard us!
They could almost see themselves packing their things and getting fired.
"What do we do? What should we do?"
"Attorney Qin hates us gossiping; are we finished?"
Usually, Attorney Qin never came to the tea room; he had his assistant bring him coffee directly. Why was his little girl here looking for coffee today?
Panicking, they didn’t know how to salvage the awkward situation. Should they slip away quietly, fearing the little girl would tell Attorney Qin? Or approach her and risk scaring her, which would only make things worse?
In the midst of their turmoil, they heard Qin Sui’an ask, "Big sisters, is the coffee ready?"
Both employees jumped, suddenly realizing the coffee was ready. "Yes, it’s done, thank you!" They quickly grabbed their coffee, wanting to leave but hesitating, unsure whether to say something to the little girl. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Even though they were just assistants, they were usually articulate. But now, they were at a loss for words, stammering.
They exchanged looks, summoning courage to speak. "I, uh... we..."
It wasn’t that the little girl was scary; she had a fair, delicate face with bright, lively eyes that blinked cutely. She was absolutely adorable.
But their guilt and thoughts of the serious Attorney Qin had their minds in a muddle.
Qin Sui’an sensed their nervousness and, seeing they were almost in tears, said sweetly, "Big sisters can go back to work."
"Oh, right, we need to get back to work..."
The two employees hesitated for a moment before surrendering, waving a hand gently to Qin Sui’an: "Goodbye, little sister."
"Goodbye, big sisters~" Qin Sui’an smiled, waving back at them.
Finally, they left the tea room, almost running away. Qin Sui’an could faintly hear their voices filled with panic:
"Are we finished?"
"I don’t know; let’s just go back and work hard..."
Once they left, only Qin Sui’an and another assistant remained in the tea room.
The assistant was still upset about forgetting to prepare coffee for Attorney Qin. After finishing the coffee, she turned to see only the little girl left and quickly said, "I’m sorry, little sister! It was my mistake; I’ll take the coffee to Attorney Qin right now."
Qin Sui’an tilted her head, confused. "You don’t need to apologize to Ann."
The assistant paused and smiled gently. "Thank you, little sister. If you hadn’t reminded me, I wouldn’t have realized I forgot."
"No problem!" Qin Sui’an’s gaze landed on the coffee in her hands. "Big sister, Third Brother needs coffee."
"I’ll take it to Attorney Qin right away." The assistant stepped out of the tea room, slowing her pace, worried about leaving the little girl alone. "Little sister, can we go together to find Attorney Qin?"
"Ann is also going back to find Third Brother. I’ll be back in a minute!" Qin Sui’an said, running off with her short legs toward her Third Brother’s office, glancing back at the assistant carrying the coffee.
The reception area door was ajar, and as Qin Sui’an dashed in, she faintly heard an impatient voice inside, as if expressing their inner thoughts:
"Is Attorney Qin done yet? Seriously, why not make money? What is he doing?"
