Chapter 384: Inquiring About the Eldest Brother

Qin Haochen didn’t mind at all, speaking calmly, "If you have any food preferences, let the bodyguards know so the chef can prepare it for tomorrow morning."

"I’ll eat whatever Ann eats; I’m not picky." Ye Rongyuan stood up cheerfully. "Brother-in-law, I won’t take up your precious time. I’m heading downstairs now."

In the study, Qin Haochen sent the revised contract to He Yan and then asked, "Are there any collaborations with other groups recently?"

He Yan, busy with his laptop, took a moment to process the question. "Yes, we have plans to cooperate with Shi Corporation and Bai Corporation this month."

Qin Haochen raised an eyebrow. "Good."

He Yan waited for further instructions but was left puzzled by the vague response.

After delegating the remaining tasks to He Yan, Qin Haochen left the study.

As he walked downstairs, he spotted his nominal fourth son, Qin Niexun, heading toward the first-floor study with Ye Rongyuan.

A flicker of curiosity crossed Qin Haochen’s mind. What could they be discussing?

Not wanting to intrude on their adult matters, he headed straight to the living room to find his little one.

Meanwhile, the first-floor study was less formal than the one upstairs, with toys scattered across the sofa and table—evidence of Ann’s presence.

Ye Rongyuan couldn’t help but smile at the toys. "Did you get hurt on a mission, my fourth nephew?" he asked, noticing the bandaged arm of Qin Niexun.

He had decided to ask Qin Niexun about his eldest brother since his connection seemed the most relevant.

"It’s a confidential work matter; I can’t discuss it," Qin Niexun replied, his arm still in a makeshift sling from Qin Yanyi’s earlier care.

Despite his injury, he stood tall. "Is there anything else?"

"Hold on," Ye Rongyuan glanced at the door, ensuring it was closed.

Qin Niexun, eager to play with Ann, promptly shut the door behind them, turning back to Ye Rongyuan, clearly asking if they could get to the point.

Ye Rongyuan chuckled lightly, cutting to the chase. "Does your mission have anything to do with my eldest brother?"

"Confidential work matter; I can’t disclose it," he repeated.

"Ann mentioned seeing my brother, and I’m worried since he’s been out of touch for years. I’ll only ask you one question," Ye Rongyuan said, glancing at Qin Niexun’s injured arm. "Is my brother seriously injured? I mean, like losing limbs kind of injury."

Qin Niexun was taken aback by the question, his eyes reflecting a mix of emotions.

After a brief pause, he replied, "Don’t worry, he’s fine."

"Then that’s good." Ye Rongyuan felt relieved. As long as it wasn’t a severe injury, everything else was manageable.

He patted Qin Niexun’s shoulder. "Thanks, my good nephew."

Qin Niexun restrained a smirk. "No need to thank me."

Having gathered information about his brother, Ye Rongyuan didn’t linger at the Qin household.

His party escorted him to the entrance of Bay Villa.

Upon hearing that Ye Rongyuan planned to pick up his granddaughter in the morning, Old Mrs. Qin invited him to stay the night. "We have spare rooms; it’s troublesome to travel back and forth. Why not rest here tonight?"

Ye Rongyuan politely declined, "It’s not convenient; I came in a rush without any clothes. Next time, though, if you want to send me away, I won’t leave!"

Old Mrs. Qin laughed at his response. "You can’t chase away family."

He wanted to stay where Ann was, but it was indeed inconvenient. Thankfully, he could return in the morning.

He hugged Ann, kissing the top of her head. "Ann, goodbye! I’ll come to take you to Ye Corporation tomorrow."

"Okay~" Qin Sui’an wrapped her tiny arms around his waist, encouragingly patting him. "Uncle, be careful on the road! Drive slowly!"

"Sure, I’ll listen to Ann." Ye Rongyuan released her, said his goodbyes, and then got into his silver Maserati, driving away from Bay Villa.

Once the car disappeared from sight, Qin Haochen approached and lifted his little one. "Ann, it’s time for bed."

Though Ann hadn’t been overly energetic today, she was tired after a long day. As she leaned against her father, her big eyes began to droop.

"Daddy, Ann gets to go to work with Uncle tomorrow~" she murmured.

"Yeah, I know. Your uncle just told me," Qin Haochen replied, walking steadily back toward the castle.

Holding her securely, he gently patted her back. "If you’re sleepy, go ahead and sleep. You need to wake up early for your trip to Ye Corporation."

"Okay!"

Excited about visiting her other home, Qin Sui’an’s lips curled upward even as she fell asleep, dreaming of tomorrow.

After leaving Bay Villa, Ye Rongyuan made a quick stop at the hospital.

At ten o’clock, Old Mrs. Ye and Old Mr. Ye were about to head to the adjacent rest area when Lucy reported that their younger son’s car had just arrived, prompting them to stay a little longer out of curiosity.

What could he want so late?

Ye Rongyuan swiftly made his way to the hospital room.

Noticing the warm lighting, he assumed his parents had gone to bed, so he didn’t knock and gently pushed the door open.

To his surprise, he found his parents still seated on the sofa. Startled, he shivered and quickly calmed himself, lowering his voice. "Mom, Dad, why are you still up?"
