Chapter 385: Old Mrs. Ye’s Heartstrings

Old Mr. Ye looked at him, lowering his voice. "I heard you came to the hospital. Is everything alright?"

"Nothing’s wrong. I just left the Qin family and thought I’d come by to see my sister," Ye Rongyuan replied, planning to share his experiences at the Qin household, though he wasn’t sure if his sister would be in a state to hear him.

Old Mrs. Ye feigned indifference as she asked, "Is everything alright over there?"

Her calm demeanor couldn’t mask the emotions in her tone and gaze. After a few days without seeing her granddaughter, she couldn’t pretend she didn’t miss her. If possible, she would want to be with her every day.

"Everything’s great! Ann went out today with her third brother to his law firm." Ye Rongyuan grinned, unable to contain his joy. "Dad, Mom, I’ll be picking up Ann tomorrow morning to visit Ye Corporation."

Old Mrs. Ye was immediately taken aback.

Old Mr. Ye’s smile returned. "Ann has been to Ye Corporation before. Back then, we had to carry her around. Now she probably doesn’t remember much."

When Ann was just three months old, their daughter Zhaosi would often bring her to Ye Corporation, claiming it was for a visit and to check if they were slacking off.

Years had flown by, and Ye Corporation had flourished, but...

Old Mr. Ye maintained his smile, hiding any negative emotions, though he glanced at his wife with a hint of worry. Fortunately, she seemed pleased.

Once Old Mrs. Ye collected herself, her calm expression couldn’t conceal her inner excitement; her lips involuntarily curled upwards. "Really? What time will you pick up Ann? I’ll go with you."

Ye Rongyuan said, "Brother-in-law mentioned Ann might sleep a bit late, but that’s fine. I plan to get to the Qin house by six to wait for her to wake up, and we can have breakfast together."

Old Mrs. Ye hesitated.

She couldn’t be like her younger son, eating breakfast at the Qin family’s house. More importantly, she still hadn’t resolved her own feelings about the situation.

Noticing this, Old Mr. Ye suggested, "How about this: Rongyuan, if you want to go early, go ahead. When Ann wakes up, send us a message, and we’ll come pick her up."

Ye Rongyuan glanced at his suddenly silent mother and quickly picked up where his father left off. "Sure. I’ll head to the Qin house first thing tomorrow, and I’ll let you know as soon as Ann wakes up."

Old Mr. Ye gently held his wife’s hand, softly asking for her opinion. "Wenting, is that alright?"

Old Mrs. Ye nodded. "Let’s do it this way."

Ye Rongyuan moved to the door and turned back to them. "Mom, Dad, you should go rest. I’ll talk to my sister for a bit before I head back to rest too."

Old Mr. Ye stood with his wife. "Don’t stay up too late; don’t delay things for tomorrow."

He wasn’t referring to work matters, but rather the plan to pick up Ann for a day at Ye Corporation.

"Got it, I know." Ye Rongyuan saw them off as they entered the adjacent lounge. He closed the door to the room and stepped inside.

The room was quiet except for the beeping of medical machines, and Ye Rongyuan could almost hear his own breathing.

He slowed his pace and took a seat by the bedside.

The woman in the bed had her eyes closed. Even in the dim light of night, her pale face was visible, her features still striking.

Ye Rongyuan, usually playful and carefree—even in his role as president of the company—showed a softer side only in front of his sister.

At this moment, he appeared earnest, his eyes filled with respect and admiration for her. He spoke softly, "Sister, I went to the Qin’s place today and saw Ann. We had dinner together, and oh, Brother-in-law, and your in-laws were there, along with my other nephews."

He didn’t mind being detailed; he was concerned his sister might think he only played with Ann, neglecting the rest of the Qin family.

"Ann can’t hide anything; Eldest Brother has seen her too." Ye Rongyuan didn’t blame his brother for not showing up at home first. Adults had their own worries, and he guessed his brother was still busy with something.

He himself had his own matters, which he had kept from his parents earlier.

That was Ann’s incredible Mind-Reading Skill.

Thinking about it, Ye Rongyuan couldn’t help but smile helplessly. "Sister, you’ve had secrets with Mom since you were little. I thought I’d learn about them when I grew up, but it seems like only by becoming a eunuch would I have the right to know."

Ye Rongyuan barely remembered his grandmother, who had passed away when he was just over three years old.

But after seeing Ann today and learning about her uniqueness, he speculated it might be related to his mother, sister, and perhaps even his grandmother.

Maybe it was some secret passed down through women?

For now, these were just his thoughts; only his mother and sister knew the truth.

After venting about his mother and sister keeping secrets, Ye Rongyuan finally changed the subject to tomorrow’s trip to Ye Corporation.

"Ann hasn’t been to Ye Corporation in years." Ye Rongyuan lowered his gaze. "Sister, you haven’t been there in years either."

He allowed himself a moment of gloom, but once that minute was over, his face brightened again as he switched topics.

"Sister, I gave Brother-in-law a piece of my mind today!" Ye Rongyuan embellished the story. "Brother-in-law thought we were losing some profits, letting Qin Corporation make more money. He’s really limiting his own path! It’s not like we’re not making money as a family, so I encouraged him to go make money from others."

Leaning closer, he beamed with pride. "Sister, am I getting smarter? Let me tell you, Ye Corporation’s annual profit has more than tripled compared to three years ago."

Back then, the siblings had all pushed against taking the role of president, and in the end, he, the youngest, ended up in that position by chance.

He remembered his brothers and sister smilingly reminding him not to bankrupt the company too quickly.

Now the company was thriving.

His brothers could see it, but his sister had yet to witness it.

"Sister, don’t sleep too much; otherwise, you won’t get to see the glorious moment of Ye Corporation." Ye Rongyuan added quietly, "I can’t guarantee that if you keep sleeping like this, your shares won’t lose value."
