Chapter 387: A Moment of Excitement Forgotten

Little Qin Sui’an wiggled her small bottom, her short legs straining to reach the ground.

Upon hearing her father’s voice, she quickly turned her little head around, her round eyes sparkling.

Seemingly forgetting that half her body was still hanging off the bed, she sweetly called out, "Daddy~"

Qin Haochen couldn’t help but chuckle at her adorable posture. He quickly crouched down and gently lifted her into his arms.

He pressed a kiss to her soft, chubby cheek. "Good morning, Ann."

"Good morning, Daddy~" Little Sui’an relaxed in her father’s embrace, no longer needing to struggle. "Daddy, has Uncle come yet?"

She remembered her uncle saying last night that he would come early to have breakfast with her. Of course, that was what her uncle meant in his heart; he hadn’t said it out loud, wanting Ann to sleep well without worrying about waking up early.

As Qin Haochen walked with her to the washroom, he patiently answered, "He’s downstairs in the living room."

"Wow, Uncle really came that early!" Qin Sui’an’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she beamed, "Good thing Ann didn’t sleep in~"

Otherwise, her uncle would have to wait a long time~

Qin Haochen smiled at her affectionately. "Ann is so considerate."

After helping little Sui’an wash up and get dressed, they headed downstairs together.

Ye Rongyuan was still in the living room, flipping through the newspaper, occasionally glancing outside to catch the sounds of movement, afraid he’d miss Ann coming down.

As soon as he heard footsteps, he sprang up, put the newspaper back on the table, and strode outside.

When Qin Sui’an saw her uncle emerge from the living room, she called out in her sweet, baby voice, "Uncle~"

Ye Rongyuan loved hearing Ann’s little voice, quickening his pace. "Good morning, Ann!"

After greeting Ann, he shifted his gaze to his brother-in-law, greeting him politely, "Good morning, brother-in-law."

Qin Haochen nodded lightly. "Morning. Let’s have breakfast first."

As Ye Rongyuan followed them to the dining room, he took out his phone and messaged his parents to let them know Ann was awake.

Old Mr. Ye replied quickly: [Alright, we’ll head over now.]

Qin Sui’an caught her uncle’s thought and blinked curiously, "Is Grandma and Grandpa coming?"

"Wow, Ann is so clever." Ye Rongyuan put away his phone and gently ruffled her hair. "I told them last night that you were going to work with me, so they wanted to come and pick you up."

"Then why aren’t Grandma and Grandpa coming with you?" Qin Sui’an furrowed her little brows, puzzled, thinking they could all have breakfast together.

Ye Rongyuan was momentarily stunned, not expecting Ann to ask such a question.

Qin Haochen glanced at him and, after a moment’s thought, understood the reason.

Some things were better left unsaid in front of little ones. He answered for Ye Rongyuan, "Ann, your grandparents live in a different place from your uncle."

That was indeed the truth.

Qin Sui’an replied with a long "Oh," saying, "Ann understands."

Ye Rongyuan secretly breathed a sigh of relief as they moved on from that topic.

In the dining room, breakfast was already prepared—nutritious and visually appealing.

The previous night’s dinner had almost filled a whole table, and Ye Rongyuan hadn’t been able to sit in the best spot—next to Ann. Now, however, he happily took a seat next to her, internally grinning while maintaining an outwardly calm demeanor.

Qin Sui’an rubbed her little ears and looked curiously at her uncle.

Her expression seemed to hint at something she wanted to say. Ye Rongyuan noticed and asked curiously, "Do you have something to say, Ann?"

"Um..." Qin Sui’an hesitated for a couple of seconds, and for the sake of her little ears, she whispered, "Uncle, you laughed too loudly; Ann’s ears feel a bit uncomfortable."

Ye Rongyuan: "..."

In a moment of excitement, he had completely forgotten Ann’s mind-reading skill.

Qin Haochen handed a warm milk bottle to little Sui’an, casting a glance at his embarrassed brother-in-law.

He decided to let his brother-in-law save face, pretending he hadn’t heard what little Sui’an had said.

Ye Rongyuan rubbed his nose, feeling sheepish. "Ahem, I’ll try to be more careful, Ann."

Although he intended to be mindful, he couldn’t help but occasionally "forget himself." At least he wouldn’t be as loud as before, making Ann uncomfortable.

After breakfast, Qin Haochen carried little Sui’an as they headed outside the castle, with Ye Rongyuan following beside them.

As they stepped out, they were met with a loud honk:

"Honk! Little Ann!"

The big white goose, which had been meditating a moment ago, suddenly opened its tiny eyes when it sensed little Ann’s sweet aroma approaching the castle entrance.

It stood up and waddled over to them, "Honk honk~ Little Ann, can I go out with you?"

With her head resting on her father’s shoulder, Qin Sui’an looked down slightly. "Big white goose, Ann is going to work with Uncle."

The goose nodded. "Honk~ I know, I know."

Qin Sui’an tilted her head towards her uncle. "Uncle, can the big white goose come with us?"

"Does it want to join us?" Ye Rongyuan realized that the goose had been waiting by the door all morning, wanting to join them.

"It’s not impossible..." He glanced at the goose’s rear end.

As far as he knew, geese were straight-through animals, which meant they left a mess wherever they went.

Ye Rongyuan wasn’t keen on having an extra goose wandering around his family’s company...

Just as he pondered how to explain this to Ann, he noticed her face light up with realization.

In her sweet voice, Qin Sui’an said earnestly, "Uncle, the big white goose won’t! It’s evolved!"

Yesterday, her third brother had the same concern, and the big white goose assured them it didn’t eat, so it wouldn’t make a mess either.

Ye Rongyuan was half-convinced. "It? Evolved?"

The big white goose looked aggrieved and shrank its bottom, wishing it didn’t have to be seen as just a regular goose.

Qin Sui’an clarified simply, "Uncle, don’t worry; the big white goose won’t make a mess."

Ye Rongyuan glanced at the goose’s bottom again.

Thinking back to how Qin Lvzheng had taken the big white goose along without any "incidents," Ye Rongyuan nodded. "Alright, then the big white goose can come with us."

If he couldn’t trust the goose, he could at least trust Ann’s words.
