Chapter 393: No Mind-Reading Skill?

The big white goose proudly lifted its head, "Honking!" Isn’t that obvious? No need to guess. Ye Rongyuan opened the door while glancing at it. Could this goose also have Mind-Reading Skill like Ann? Incredible. As he stepped out, the goose followed closely, pattering over to Old Mrs. Ye’s office door. It turned back, looking at Ye Rongyuan with an urging gaze: hurry up and open the door! I can’t do it!

Ye Rongyuan mumbled about this clever goose and walked over, but instead of knocking, he checked for passing staff before leaning in to listen for sounds inside. After over a minute of silence, he finally gave up and knocked, "Mom, Ann." A sweet voice replied, "Uncle, please come in~" Hearing that, Ye Rongyuan’s lips involuntarily curled up as he opened the door.

Inside, no one was at the desk. His mom and Ann were sitting on the couch, surrounded by thick photo albums. "Mom, Ann, are you looking at photos?" he asked. Old Mrs. Ye shot him a glance, "Ann said she heard your voice a few minutes ago. Why were you standing outside?"

"Uh... well..." Ye Rongyuan, avoiding her scrutinizing gaze, quickly shifted the blame to the goose, "This goose was running around, so I called it to come with me to find Ann." The goose, happily waddling towards Ann, halted at Ye Rongyuan’s words, "Honking!!" That’s a lie! I wasn’t running around!

Qin Sui’an looked at the flustered goose and then at her slightly guilty uncle. Just as she was about to translate for the goose, Ye Rongyuan swiftly covered her mouth, "Shh!" He quickly changed the subject, "Ann, are the photos nice? You’ve seen a lot of your mom’s pictures, right?"

Old Mrs. Ye sighed, swatting his hand away, "Are your hands clean?"

"They’re clean!" he laughed, retracting his hand. Ann, distracted by her uncle, focused on the albums, "I saw so many pictures of mommy, even one when she was my age, little mommy~"

Ye Rongyuan was amused by her enthusiasm, "Your mom looks just like you when she was little!" He didn’t remember much about his sister Zhaosi’s childhood, since she was three years older and had grown up by the time he could recall things.

Qin Sui’an beamed, proud of looking like her mother, thinking her mommy was beautiful, and if she resembled her, then she would be pretty too. She then praised her uncle, "Uncle looks really good too!"

"Me?" Ye Rongyuan chuckled, "Are you saying I look good now or when I was a kid?"

"Both!" she replied without hesitation, flipping through the album to show him a picture of little Uncle, "Little uncle was very handsome too!"

Ye Rongyuan leaned down, seeing a photo from his fourth birthday, dressed in a mini suit and wearing a "4" birthday hat, looking quite smug. "Looks good, but a bit cocky," he remarked, acknowledging how conceited he appeared.

Old Mrs. Ye raised an eyebrow, "So you admit it."

"I was just a kid, never faced the harshness of society. Being a bit cocky is normal," he replied nonchalantly, "I’ve toned down now, peace and prosperity."

The big white goose protested loudly, "Honking!" How shameless! How dare you say that!

Qin Sui’an glanced at the goose, contemplating whether to translate its words, as they weren’t very flattering. Ye Rongyuan flipped through the albums, his mind elsewhere as he kept glancing at his mom and Ann.

Ann was engrossed in the photos and didn’t notice her uncle’s strange demeanor. Old Mrs. Ye stayed calm, pretending not to notice, saying nothing. Finally, Ye Rongyuan couldn’t hold back and asked tentatively, "Mom, what were you and Ann talking about?"

"About your sister," she replied innocently, looking up at him, "Why?"

"Uh... nothing," he stammered, feeling an urge to ask but hesitating.

Just then, Ye Rongyuan sensed something odd. Earlier, he was just overjoyed, causing Ann to be disturbed, but now he felt like he had many thoughts, yet Ann seemed completely unfazed by his inner musings.

Thinking hard, he tilted his head to examine Ann’s little face. Ann noticed his gaze and tilted her head back, "Uncle, what’s wrong?"

"Don’t you find me noisy?" he asked curiously.

"You’re not saying anything, so it’s not noisy," she replied, shaking her head earnestly.
