Chapter 397: Not Seeing Ann

Shi Anye was only thirty this year. After coming of age, he took over Shi Corporation from his father.

He stood up and extended his right hand toward Ye Rongyuan. "President Ye, long time no see."

The last time they met was probably at some banquet, back when Ye Rongyuan was just a young heir and hadn’t yet assumed the role of president of Ye Corporation.

Ye Rongyuan shook his hand and then glanced at the child beside him.

Shi Anye promptly introduced, "This is my son, Shi Qinghan. He got out of kindergarten early today, so I brought him along."

Shi Qinghan looked up at Ye Rongyuan with his dark eyes, his youthful voice contrasting with his composed expression. "Mr Ye, good afternoon."

"Good afternoon." Speaking of kindergarten, Ye Rongyuan suddenly recalled something. "Are you and your cousin in the same kindergarten?"

Shi Qinghan nodded. "Yes."

Thinking that Ann might be going to their kindergarten, Ye Rongyuan couldn’t help but ask, "What do you think of it ?"

Shi Qinghan looked a bit confused by the sudden question but still replied, "The teachers are nice, and the environment is okay."

"I see." Ye Rongyuan felt relieved. A child from a wealthy family like Shi Qinghan wouldn’t endorse a subpar kindergarten.

Seeing this, Shi Anye asked, "Is your niece going to kindergarten soon?"

"Yes, we’re looking for a suitable one."

Originally, they were supposed to discuss business in Ye Rongyuan’s office, but since Ann was napping, he stayed in the reception area to avoid disturbing her.

He sat on the sofa. "President Shi, Qinghan, please take a seat."

Shi Anye glanced at his son and then said to Ye Rongyuan, "If it’s inconvenient for you, my son can wait outside for a bit."

Hearing this, a thought flashed through Ye Rongyuan’s mind: biological.

"No need," he said. A small child wouldn’t understand their conversation anyway.

Shi Qinghan was quite considerate. Although they didn’t mind his presence, he said, "Uncle Ye, I’ll go walk outside for a bit."

"Alright." Ye Rongyuan didn’t stop him, merely saying politely, "If you need anything, just ask our staff."

Shi Qinghan nodded and then walked out of the reception area.

This was his first time at Ye Corporation, but the unfamiliar surroundings didn’t make him feel shy; he stood calmly by the window at the end of the corridor, gazing outside.

At that moment, he heard a faint sound coming from the closed fire door next to him.

It sounded like some animal.

Shi Qinghan turned to stare at the fire door, and after a few seconds, the sound rang out again.

It wasn’t his imagination.

He looked down the corridor, where the employees were busy with their work, with no one passing by.

After pondering for a few seconds, Shi Qinghan walked over to the fire door and pushed it open with all his might.

Almost simultaneously, a white shadow dashed out from behind the door.

Shi Qinghan was startled and quickly turned his head to see what the white shadow was—it was a big white goose.

The big white goose was running around Ye Corporation for no apparent reason.

After lunch, it had followed Qin Sui’an and her little uncle through the corporation, and news had spread that the little girl had a pet goose, allowing the goose to roam freely without fear of mishap.

The big white goose was too short to reach the elevator, so it could only take the stairs. Fortunately, it was full of energy and didn’t tire easily. It just needed someone to help it open doors.

Just as it was contemplating how to open the door, it sensed someone approaching.

After successfully entering the fire door, the big white goose saw the little human who had opened the door for it and thought it looked familiar: "Gah—"

Isn’t this the little human who attended little Ann’s party?

The big white goose quickly remembered the little human’s identity—Shi Qinghan from the Shi family.

It was a pleasant surprise to see a familiar face. Wanting to show gratitude, the big white goose plucked a feather from itself and offered it to Shi Qinghan.

Shi Qinghan looked at the big white goose and suddenly recalled that it was Ann’s pet goose.

Seeing the goose present a feather to him, he was momentarily taken aback. "Is this a gift for me?"

The big white goose nodded its head, stepping forward to urge him to take it.

Shi Qinghan hesitated for a moment but then reached out to accept the feather. "Thank you."

"Gah!" No problem!

Once the gift was given, the big white goose turned and waddled toward little Ann’s uncle’s office, realizing it couldn’t communicate with this little human.

Shi Qinghan held the feather in one hand, gazing at the waddling big white goose, and an image of its little owner suddenly flashed in his mind.

It wasn’t until the big white goose turned a corner and disappeared from view that Shi Qinghan returned his attention to the feather in his hand.

The big white goose was in Ye Corporation, which meant its little owner was likely there too.

Though Shi Qinghan had only met Qin Sui’an once, he had a strong impression of her.

He remembered she loved drinking milk.

Holding a glimmer of hope, he thought perhaps he would have a chance to see little Ann.

However, he waited until his father finished discussing matters with Uncle Ye, and when they stood by the elevator, he still hadn’t seen little Ann, nor had he heard her voice.

Ye Rongyuan and Shi Anye reached an agreement on the collaboration between their companies, which would be finalized soon.

He personally pressed the elevator button. "President Shi, if you have any concerns about our collaboration, feel free to contact me directly."

"I will," Shi Anye nodded. When the elevator doors opened, he stepped inside.

Turning around, he noticed his son still standing outside, lost in thought. Shi Anye gently called out, "Qinghan."

Shi Qinghan snapped back to reality and walked into the elevator.

Ye Rongyuan glanced at him and smiled. "President Shi, it seems your son is reluctant to leave."

Shi Anye chuckled in agreement. "I won’t disturb your work. Goodbye."

As the elevator doors closed, it carried the Shi father and son down to the first floor.

Shi Anye didn’t immediately ask Shi Qinghan what he was thinking; he waited until they stepped out of Ye Corporation and got into their car before glancing at him and asking, "Did something happen at Ye Corporation?"

Shi Qinghan fastened his seatbelt and answered, "I met Ann’s pet goose. It gave me a feather."

"Ann’s pet goose?"

Shi Anye had never seen Mr. Qin’s precious daughter but had heard that she owned a pet goose.

Upon hearing his son’s words, Shi Anye sounded a bit regretful. "Maybe Ann is in Ye Corporation too; it’s a pity you didn’t get to see her."

"Yeah," Shi Qinghan agreed, feeling disappointed.

Thinking back to when Ye Rongyuan asked about the kindergarten, Shi Anye said, "You and Ann should be in the same kindergarten, but next year you’ll be in elementary school."

So their time together in the same kindergarten would be limited.

Qin Haochen protected his precious daughter well, not releasing any related photos, and the more Shi Anye heard about this, the more he wanted to see his precious daughter in person.

Suddenly, the assistant in the front passenger seat turned around and reported, "President, we received an invitation from Bai Corporation for the birthday party of the young lord from the Bai family."

The assistant glanced at the details before continuing, "It will be held at the Bai family mansion tomorrow at six o’clock."

Shi Anye rarely attended such parties, especially since the birthday boy was a child. He turned to his son, asking, "The Bai family’s child seems to be four or five years old; do you want to go?"

Shi Qinghan showed a rare moment of hesitation, not outright refusing.

Noticing his son’s reaction and recalling how he had been distracted in front of the elevator, Shi Anye suddenly said, "The Bai family is related to the Qin family."

Shi Qinghan bit his lip, contemplating for a few seconds before finally nodding. "I’ll go."

Shi Anye smiled gently and instructed the assistant, "Add it to tomorrow’s schedule."

"Understood, President," the assistant replied immediately.

Shi Anye first dropped his son off at home before returning to Shi Corporation to handle his work.

Shi Qinghan unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.

As soon as he stepped inside, he heard laughter and chatter from within.

Hearing his cousin Shi Yiyin’s voice, he instinctively wanted to go upstairs.

However, he was a step too slow.

Shi Yiyin, noticing the surveillance, ran out from the living room. "Cousin! Didn’t kindergarten let out early today? Why are you home so late?"

Shi Qinghan paused. "I went to another place with my dad."

"Oh." Shi Yiyin casually asked, then immediately shifted topics. "Cousin, tomorrow I—"

Suddenly, she seemed to realize something, her eyes widening in surprise as she

pointed to his jacket pocket. "Cousin! When did you steal my goose feather? That’s Ann’s big white goose’s gift to me!"

She had been the one to ask Ann for the feather in the first place! 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Shi Qinghan: "..."

He stared at her speechlessly for a moment before explaining, "This is my goose feather, not yours."

"Impossible! Ann’s goose feather looks just like this!"

Shi Qinghan glanced at her pocket. "Isn’t your goose feather still in your pocket?"

"Ah?" Shi Yiyin reached in and felt around. "Oh? It’s still here! Then how come you have a goose feather too? And it looks just like mine!"

Curious, Shi Yiyin leaned in closer. "Is your goose feather also plucked from Ann’s big white goose?"

Shi Qinghan nodded. "Yes."

Hearing this, Shi Yiyin looked dejected and muttered, "Cousin went to find Ann but didn’t take me with him..."
