Chapter 423: The Birthday Gift Little One Wants

While little one was still drinking her milk, Qin Haochen brought warm water and gently wiped his wife’s face with a clean towel. Following the nursing staff’s massage techniques, he softly massaged her hands and feet.

Qin Sui’an held her milk bottle, her round eyes turned into crescent moons. Even though her mother was still asleep, she felt like a very happy little baby.

As the milk bottle emptied, Qin Haochen tucked the blanket around his wife and then took the empty bottle from little one’s hands, playfully tapping her tiny nose. "Alright, it’s time to sleep. You don’t have kindergarten tomorrow morning, but you shouldn’t stay up too late."

"Okay~" Qin Sui’an’s little face flushed, her lips curled into a smile as she snuggled into her blanket.

After washing the bottle and tidying up, Qin Haochen returned to the room, finding little one already fast asleep. He couldn’t help but smile as he approached her bed to adjust her sleeping position, then bent down to kiss his wife’s forehead gently before turning off the light and lying down on the accompanying bed.

Even though the bed was uncomfortable, he found joy in being there.

The next day, at 9:30 in the morning, Old Mrs and Mr Ye arrived at the kindergarten on time, attending the parents’ meeting as Qin Sui’an’s grandparents.

Every month on the first day, the kindergarten celebrated the birthdays of children born that month. The morning meeting primarily focused on discussing the arrangements for the birthday celebration.

The Ye elders declined the teachers’ kind offer to sit in the front row and chose instead to sit randomly in the back rows with other parents.

After listening to the teachers, Old Mr. Ye murmured to his wife, "I didn’t know kindergartens still celebrated birthdays for kids these days."

Their youngest son, Ye Rongyuan, was already in his twenties, far removed from kindergarten life. If it weren’t for their granddaughter attending, Old Mr. Ye wouldn’t have known about the many activities kindergartens had, including birthday celebrations.

Old Mrs. Ye’s thoughts drifted as she stared ahead, unfocused. Their granddaughter was about to turn four, yet they hadn’t celebrated her birthday even once. This made her feel guilty and heartbroken.

Noticing his wife’s unusual emotions, Old Mr. Ye took her hand and said, "We’ll make sure to celebrate Ann’s birthday properly."

Old Mrs. Ye suppressed her sadness and nodded gently. It was indeed time to prepare.

After the meeting, the kindergarten principal and little one’s class teacher came to speak with the Ye elders.

With a smile, the principal politely asked, "Ann’s grandparents, do you have any other opinions on the decisions made during the meeting?"

Old Mr. Ye remained silent, looking at his wife.

The class teacher added with a smile, "If there’s anything we haven’t arranged well, we hope you can point it out to us."

Old Mrs. Ye had only one request: "The security needs to be tightened. If possible, the Ye family will send over some bodyguards."

"Of course, that’s no problem!" The principal agreed without hesitation. They welcomed more bodyguards from the Ye and Qin families; it would not only ensure Ann’s safety but also indirectly protect the other children.

After leaving the kindergarten, Old Mr. Ye immediately instructed his assistant, Jie Hansi, to arrange for bodyguards to come to the kindergarten on the first day.

Upon returning to the hospital, they arrived just in time for lunch. Ye Rongyuan had just sent lunch up when he saw his parents and hurried over. "Mom and Dad, how was the parents’ meeting?"

Ye Rongyuan’s impression of parents’ meetings was that they were for students with poor grades, and he couldn’t imagine what a kindergarten meeting would discuss.

Old Mr. Ye replied briefly, "The kindergarten is holding a birthday party on the first of next month for the kids celebrating birthdays." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"Birthday?" Ye Rongyuan paused for a second, then suddenly slapped his forehead. "Right! Ann’s birthday is coming up! I almost forgot!"

Without finishing his lunch, he dashed to the elevator, exclaiming, "You guys eat; I’m going to get a birthday gift for Ann!"

Old Mr. Ye didn’t stop him. His youngest son was always so impulsive; a birthday gift could wait until after lunch.

Old Mrs. Ye exchanged a glance with her assistant, Lucy. Understanding the signal, Lucy made a call to arrange lunch for Ye Rongyuan, ensuring he would eat and not forget his meal in the excitement of preparing a birthday gift.

In the hospital room, Qin Sui’an was sitting in her play area, building a large house with blocks. Suddenly, she paused, holding a block in mid-air, her round eyes blinking.

Qin Haochen was about to hand her another block when he noticed her sudden stillness and asked in confusion, "Ann, what’s wrong?"

Putting the block down, Qin Sui’an climbed up and leaned against her dad’s shoulder, her little hands tugging at his ear as she whispered, "Daddy, is Ann going to have a birthday?"

Little one couldn’t hide her thoughts; her little face glowed with excitement as she looked at him with sparkling eyes, her anticipation almost spilling over.

So adorable! Qin Haochen couldn’t help but smile and hugged her close. "How did you know?"

Little one’s birthday was next month, and Qin Haochen had planned to keep it a surprise until everything was arranged. But now it seemed better to let her know early, so she could enjoy the anticipation for several days.

"I heard it!" Qin Sui’an beamed, her eyes curving joyfully. "Uncle said he’s going to get a birthday gift for Ann!"

She had never celebrated a birthday or received a birthday gift before. Just thinking about it made little one excited, her cheeks flushed with enthusiasm.

Hearing this, Qin Haochen realized the Ye elders had returned and turned his head to glance toward the door.

He gently asked little one in his arms, "So, Ann, do you have a birthday gift in mind?"

"I want to eat a birthday cake!" Qin Sui’an recalled how delicious the cake was at Grandpa Ou and Bai Zhou’s birthday banquet—sweet and tasty enough for her to eat a piece bigger than her little hand.

"There will definitely be a birthday cake," Qin Haochen chuckled. "Besides cake, is there anything else you want?"

Qin Sui’an frowned in deep thought. "Um..."

She pondered for quite a while, but her lips remained sealed.
