[Little Ann is looking at me again! Why is she looking at me? Is there something dirty on my face?]
[I didn’t touch anything...]
[So many kids received little Ann’s invitation. Does that mean she doesn’t plan to invite me?]
[Since little Ann doesn’t plan to invite me, I guess I won’t go.]
[Should I just ask little Ann for an invitation?]
[Why is little Ann still looking at me? I really want to go to the bathroom and check the mirror; my face must be dirty.]
Shi Qinghan casually turned his head, but when he met Qin Sui’an’s bright round eyes, he quickly looked away, pretending to focus on something else.
Unable to hold back any longer, Shi Qinghan raised his hand to touch his face and then turned toward the bathroom, his steps slightly hurried.
Shi Yiyin noticed her cousin Shi Qinghan leaving and looked curiously at his back. "Is Cousin in a hurry? He should hurry, or he’ll—"
Turning around, Shi Yiyin saw Qin Sui’an jump off the swing. She immediately followed suit. "Little Ann, aren’t you going to play on the swings anymore?"
"I’ll play later, Yiyin. Ann is going back to the classroom to get the invitation." Qin Sui’an replied as she dashed toward the middle class classroom.
"Invitation?" Shi Yiyin chased after her. "Who else does little Ann want to invite?"
"Brother Qinghan."
Thanks to Shi Qinghan’s "reminder," Qin Sui’an suddenly remembered she hadn’t given him the invitation to her birthday party yet.
Since she had invited Shi Yiyin, she definitely wouldn’t skip Shi Qinghan. Besides, her dad and Shi Qinghan’s dad were not only friends but also business partners.
In the bathroom, Shi Qinghan carefully checked his reflection, confirming that his hair, face, and clothes were clean. Only then did he return to the previous spot and glance toward the swings.
The little one who had been swinging was now nowhere to be seen, and the swing beside it was also empty.
Shi Qinghan’s expression flickered with panic, and just as he was about to look for a teacher, he heard a familiar small voice from behind.
"Brother Qinghan."
Shi Qinghan felt a mix of surprise and excitement, his heart racing in an instant.
He took a deep breath and calmly turned around.
Little one’s cheeks were fair and rosy, and her clear round eyes blinked adorably, making his heart soften.
Shi Qinghan took half a second to respond, his youthful voice feigning calmness: "Little Ann."
Qin Sui’an held out the invitation she was clutching in her small hand. "This is Ann’s birthday party invitation, Brother Qinghan. It’s for you."
The invitation he had been thinking about all day was now right in front of him, and Shi Qinghan was momentarily stunned, as if doubting whether he was hallucinating.
Little Ann was inviting him?
She was personally inviting him!
An indescribable joy washed over him, and Shi Qinghan couldn’t help but let his lips curve upward, his delight evident in his expression.
Standing next to Qin Sui’an, Shi Yiyin saw her cousin smile and looked utterly astonished.
It must be little Ann’s doing!
She reminded the boy, who was lost in joy, "Cousin, why aren’t you taking the invitation? Don’t you want to go to little Ann’s birthday party?"
"I do." Shi Qinghan suddenly came back to his senses and quickly extended both hands to take the invitation from little one.
He couldn’t hide his excitement. "Thank you, little Ann. I will definitely go."
"You’re welcome." Qin Sui’an completed her "mission" and went back to swinging with Shi Yiyin.
Shi Qinghan stood there, looking down at the invitation in his hands. It seemed to still hold little one’s warmth, fresh and inviting.
He pressed his lips together, his eyes sparkling with joy, as if what he held wasn’t just an invitation but a special gift just for him.
