Chapter 67: The Man Resembled a Ghost

The White Goose felt wronged and dared not speak due to Qin Fujia’s intimidation.

Qin Fujia approached, half crouching in front of Ann, his eyes filled with a hint of a smile.

"Ann, are you awake?"

"Eldest Brother, Ann woke up a while ago!"

Qin Sui’an repeated in a sweet and childish voice.

"Good girl."

Qin Fujia lifted her up and turned his gaze towards his Sixth Brother.

"Do you need something from me?" Qin Qianyi arrived at the corridor and glanced downstairs.

"Eldest Brother, Mrs. Shao, and her daughter came earlier, but I sent Mrs. Shao away."

Qin Fujia raised an eyebrow slightly at the mention of him driving someone away, but he didn’t inquire about the reason.

"What about her daughter?"

"I don’t know," Qin Qianyi replied.

"Perhaps she followed her mother."

As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Sui’an shook her little head.

"Sixth Brother, Sister Xinxin didn’t leave!"

"Ah?" Qin Qianyi was extremely surprised.

"She didn’t leave?" Qin Sui’an nodded, earnestly saying, "Ann heard it!"

She had heard Sister Xinxin’s conversation with the bodyguard downstairs.

Sister Xinxin didn’t want to leave, so she returned to the living room.

Qin Fujia and Qin Qianyi exchanged a glance, then with Ann in his arms and the White Goose following behind, they took the elevator back to the first floor.

In the living room.

Shao Xinxin sat obediently on the sofa, seemingly unaffected by her mother’s departure.

She appeared calm and composed.

She raised her gaze, her watery eyes looking towards the bodyguard at the entrance of the living room, and asked, "Uncle Bodyguard, will Brother Qianyi and Sister Ann come back?"

The bodyguard glanced at her and replied expressionlessly, "I don’t know."

Even if he heard the sound of the elevator doors opening, indicating the arrival of Miss An’an and Master Qianyi, he wouldn’t casually answer questions from outsiders.

It was the basic duty of a bodyguard in the Qin family.

Shao Xinxin felt that the bodyguards here were more heartless than the others.

Wherever she went in the past, as long as she was obedient, well-behaved, and polite, there would be a corporation of people doting on her and catering to her every need.

But in this Bay Villa, whether in this life or the previous one, she had received unprecedented indifference.

Just at that moment, footsteps could be heard from outside.

Shao Xinxin collected her thoughts and immediately stood up, revealing an eager expression as she looked towards the entrance of the living room.

Qin Fujia walked into the living room with Ann in his arms, followed by Qin Qianyi and the White Goose.

Seemingly unexpected that there would be an additional person, Shao Xinxin’s expression froze upon seeing Qin Fujia, and a trace of panic flashed in her eyes.

Shaving of the head, Buddhist beads, and those eyes that seemed to overlook everything yet held compassion for the world...

It was Qin Fujia! "Brother Fujia."

Shao Xinxin involuntarily took a step back.

How could this be? Didn’t Qin Fujia become a monk? He only appeared on the day of the banquet.

In the previous life, Shao Xinxin was "driven" out of Bay Villa with her mother and only saw Qin Fujia on the day of the banquet.

Shao Xinxin hadn’t forgotten that this man, with his appearance of a compassionate Buddhist, was actually a cunning person, capable of seeing through everything, resembling a ghost at times.

And now, Shao Xinxin was afraid that he would see through her as someone who had been reborn.

She clenched her fists, calming herself down, and put on a smile, pretending to be innocent as she asked, "Brother Fujia, did you come down from the mountain? When did you come back home?"

Qin Fujia glanced at her lightly, not answering her question.

Qin Sui’an didn’t miss the fear in Shao Xinxin’s expression just now.

She furrowed her little brows in confusion and looked up at her Eldest Brother.

Sensing Ann’s gaze in his arms, Qin Fujia lowered his head slightly and asked gently, "Ann, what’s wrong?"

Qin Sui’an shook her little head. "Nothing."

Eldest Brother isn’t scary! Sister Xinxin is really strange! Qin Qianyi casually sat beside his Eldest Brother and Ann, his posture relaxed.

He glanced at Shao Xinxin and asked, "Why didn’t you leave with your mother?" Even though Qin Fujia ignored her, Shao Xinxin remained calm.

She looked at Qin Qianyi, smiled sweetly, and obediently replied, "Brother Qianyi, Mommy asked me to accompany Ann and play."

Qin Qianyi exaggeratedly chuckled and said, "Your mother’s words just now don’t seem to imply that."

Shen Shuwen, in her words and actions, showed hostility and disdain towards their family and Ann.

Qin Qianyi, however, did not perceive it as such.

He didn’t think that Shen Shuwen brought her daughter here just to accompany Ann.

"What a pity, Grandpa and Grandma are not at home," Qin Qianyi murmured softly.

Otherwise, he could have let Grandpa and Grandma see through Shen Shuwen’s facade.

He remembered that Grandpa and Grandma had mentioned how elegant and dignified Lady Shao was before.

Hmph, she was just a pretentious person.

Shao Xinxin’s fingers twitched slightly, and she paused for half a second in astonishment.

"Grandpa and Grandma are not at home?" She quickly recalled and was very certain that she hadn’t mistaken the timeline.

At this moment, Lan Jin and Qin Huo had indeed returned home! "Oh, you want to see my grandparents?" Qin Qianyi said with a fake smile.

"Shao Xinxin, your previous statement wasn’t quite like that."

Shao Xinxin waved her hand in a fluster and immediately explained, "Brother Qianyi, that’s not what I meant. I just wanted to visit Grandpa and Lan Jin while I’m here."

Her eyes were eager, filled with concern.

"I haven’t seen Grandpa and Lan Jin for a long time. I heard that Lan Jin has been ill."

"My grandmother has been unwell for three years," Qin Qianyi counted on his fingers.

"In these three years, which amount to one thousand and ninety-five days, we haven’t seen you step foot into the Bay Villa."

Shao Xinxin pursed her lips slightly, not expecting him to seize upon this small detail and confront her. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

This Qin Qianyi hadn’t changed at all, just as annoying as ever! Shao Xinxin struggled to find an excuse.

"My mom is busy with work, and I usually have to go to kindergarten and attend training classes."

"Okay, I understand," Qin Qianyi nodded, responding, "We’ve only just returned home with Ann, and your mom is no longer busy with work. You don’t need to go to kindergarten or attend training classes anymore. It seems like you and your mother conveniently came to our house to find Ann."

Shao Xinxin looked up at him, tears welling up in her eyes as if she had suffered a great injustice.

Choking up, she asked, "Brother Qianyi... Why would you say such things about me? Did I do something wrong?"

Qin Qianyi was about to say something else when Qin Fujia gave him a meaningful glance, causing him to silently close his mouth.

Almost forgot that Ann was still here.

He couldn’t let Ann misunderstand and think that he was bullying a six-year-old child!

Qin Fujia gently rubbed Ann’s little head and noticed the chessboard on the table.

He asked, "Is Ann teaching Qianyi how to play chess?"

"No, Eldest Brother, this chess game is played by Ann and Sister Xinxin," Qin Sui’an shook her little head, then added.

"Sixth Brother isn’t very good at playing!"

Her childish voice carried a hint of helplessness.
