Chapter 1 Chapter 1 The name reflects the person.
At the end of October, it was cloudy, dark clouds filled the entire sky, and it was unlikely to rain.
In the attic, Lin Qianyuan sat in front of the easel, putting the final touches on the painting on the easel. The painting was a copy of a work by the French painter Delacroix - "Lion Hunting".
Her hands were busy, but she still paid half of her attention to looking at the wall clock from time to time.
After the minute hand completed a circle, Lin Qianyuan leaned over to the window, and just in time, the person she was waiting for arrived.
"You're here."
Aunt Wu opened the door of the villa and welcomed the person standing outside the small building in, "Please come in."
Pei Lanqing nodded and said politely, "Thank you."
Aunt Wu smiled and replied, "My young lady's study is in the attic. Please come with me."
"Okay," Pei Lanqing followed her.
The path in the villa courtyard is very long, and the pebbles underfoot are rugged and uneven. The stone lions on the side are spitting out spring water, and when the wind blows, it seems to be filled with fragrance.
Pei Lanqing turned his head and took a look. It turned out that the osmanthus flowers in the yard were blooming.
The person walking in front always paid attention to the back, and she said at the right time: "Teacher Pei, my little lady is hard of hearing, so I hope you can bear with her for a while."
Pei Lanqing turned his head and hummed softly to show that he was listening.
Wu Ma smiled at him and repeated, "Thank you for your help."
It’s different from the wealthy family you imagine.
The decoration style of this small building is not magnificent, but it contains the antique charm of traditional Chinese aesthetics. It makes people hold their breath at first sight, for fear of disturbing something.
Pei Lanqing just started college this year. Last week, his counselor found him and told him that he could offer him a job and asked if he wanted it.
His family conditions were not very good, but he did not apply for poverty assistance. After asking around, he was told that it was his father's intention to leave this opportunity to someone who needed it more.
Pei Lanqing also thought about this matter in his mind. He was grateful for the teacher's special care, so he did not hesitate and directly replied that he needed it.
The counselor frankly said that this was a tutoring job and the student he was tutoring was the daughter of his friend.
Although this girl is an art student, her academic performance is also good. She studies in a famous private high school here and is ranked very high.
The reason she needed to take make-up classes was because she had an accident last year that left her deaf and forced her to stay home from school. But for some reason, she felt compelled to catch up on the year she had missed.
This wasn't a difficult task, though. The year she missed was her second year of high school, and the academic subjects were basically just review. Just helping her organize the review framework shouldn't be a big problem. The only problem was her hearing… People who are deaf often can't speak either, so this might be a little tricky.
After describing the basic situation, the counselor asked him again if he still wanted to take this part-time job.
Due to his upbringing, Pei Lanqing wasn't afraid of hardship. There's always a way out, and no matter how difficult a situation is, there's always a solution. So after listening to this, he simply smiled and said, "It's okay."
The person in front of him seemed afraid that he would give up. After repeating politely, the middle-aged woman with a friendly face turned to him and said, "If you need anything, please feel free to call me. You're welcome."
I never thought I would hear such words.
Pei Lanqing paused for a moment as he stepped onto the stairs, then quickly regained his composure. "I understand. Thank you."
Aunt Wu smiled and responded several times.
The window at the turn of the stairs was slightly open, and the wind blew in, making a tinkling sound. It was the wind chimes in the attic that gradually touched people's hearts.
Lin Qianyuan stood at the intersection with his arms folded, looking down for an unknown amount of time.
Wu Ma subconsciously called her, "Young Miss."
The person who had been following her looked up in response.
The person standing on the stairs two steps higher than them was not short to begin with. She was very thin and fair, wearing a black sleeveless dress that reached her ankles. Perhaps because of the poor light on a cloudy day, the contrast between black and white on her body was very large, making the black look even darker and the white even whiter.
Looking up, the hair is long and straight, and in the middle are a pair of beautiful eyes.
Her eyes were long and curved at the ends, and the thin eyebrows above them added a touch of elegance, but the color in her eyes lacked any tenderness. Like the wind that had calmed for a moment, it carried not only the dampness of impending rain but also a hint of coolness.
Aunt Wu left first. Lin Qianyuan kept his eyes lowered, looking down at the person standing at the bottom of the stairs.
The autumn wind stays here.
Pei Lanqing's lips moved slightly, as if he had thought of something, and he immediately prepared to open the backpack on his back.
Just as he unzipped his backpack, the person standing above him turned and went to the attic.
Pei Lanqing paused for a moment, then pulled up his schoolbag and followed her at a slightly faster pace.
Lin Qianyuan did not close the door. He sat back to where he had been painting, picked up his pen and palette, and continued painting.
Pei Lanqing waited at the door for a few seconds, first looking at her, then looking around.
The attic was spacious, wooden, with a horizontal bookcase that stretched across a quarter of the space. A wool blanket stretched along the edge of the bookcase, ending in the center of the room. On one side was a desk, and the rest was space for an easel.
Lin Qianyuan was sitting in front of the easel.
Pei Lanqing didn't close the door. Apart from the low sofa on the carpet, he had no choice but to sit on the only chair next to her.
Lin Qianyuan didn't look at him and was only focused on the painting at hand.
The whole attic was silent, and the only sound was the patter of autumn rain outside the window.
Lin Qianyuan couldn't hear, but she noticed the difference in light and darkness. She picked up the pen in her hand and put it down again. She tilted her head, not very satisfied, so she turned around and found the painting knife.
I don't know where this wind comes from, it's so damp and unpleasant.
The painting knife, originally pointed at the canvas, suddenly pointed at Pei Lanqing. The white clothes he wore today matched the white paint on the tip of the knife. Pei Lanqing glanced up and saw Lin Qianyuan just frowned and gestured for him to look towards the door.
"Is...are we going to close the door?" Pei Lanqing asked uncertainly.
Listening carefully, the voice seemed to be trembling.
Unfortunately, Lin Qianyuan couldn't hear it, she just frowned.
Pei Lanqing silently retreated to a safe area, then stood up and closed the door. When the door closed, Pei Lanqing hesitated, put his hand back on the doorknob, and pulled back, but it didn't close tightly, leaving a gap.
To her, he is of the opposite sex.
Pei Lanqing trotted back with his schoolbag, and for some reason, he felt relieved.
Lin Qianyuan lowered her head, a smile flashed in her eyes. She finally decided to leave the painting and opened her hands to him.
Pei Lanqing couldn't explain how he guessed what she wanted. He took out the paper and pen he had just prepared from his schoolbag.
Lin Qianyuan borrowed his things and wrote: [Hello, I am Lin Qianyuan.]
It must be that the picture presented on the canvas next to it is so visually impactful, with people catching lions and bloody violence, that the introduction on the white paper also suddenly becomes brighter.
Pei Lanqing nodded slightly and responded: [Hello, Pei Lanqing.]
Lin Qianyuan watched him finish writing and commented in one sentence: Not bad.
The name reflects the character of the person.
He wore a white sweatshirt and black trousers, looking simple and clean. He had almond-shaped eyes with narrow double eyelids, a high nose bridge, thin lips, and a slightly upturned curve, a standard three-part and five-eye face. They say beauty lies in the bones, not the skin, but he was beautiful in appearance as well.
Lin Qianyuan nodded, then pushed all the books on the desk to him and motioned him to start.
Pei Lanqing took the books and tutored them one by one in the order she had arranged them. He opened the first one and said subconsciously: "You learned..." He paused and looked up at her.
Lin Qianyuan blinked.
Pei Lanqing smiled, shook his head slightly, and said to himself that it was okay. He touched the pen with his right hand and pointed the tip of the pen at that place on the book.
Lin Qianyuan was still looking at his face.
As if noticing her inattention, Pei Lanqing glanced at her quickly. Lin Qianyuan didn't feel guilty at all, but still shifted her attention to the book and cooperated with him.
The Lin family is not short of money. The tutoring covers all subjects, and the class hours are very long, two afternoons a week on Saturdays and Sundays. Most importantly, the tuition fees are also very generous.
To be honest, before today's tutoring session, Pei Lanqing had assumed the student's foundation was weak. But that wasn't the case. Lin Qianyuan was incredibly quick-witted. Aside from math, which was a bit of a struggle, she must have already established a solid foundation for everything else, making it easy for him to teach her.
Pei Lanqing tried to leave her some homework.
Lin Qianyuan didn't pay attention to what he was thinking or what he was drawing. She folded the A4 paper they used to communicate, and then unfolded it again.
The edge of the paper brushed against her knuckles, almost cutting her skin. Lin Qianyuan looked at that spot, as if she thought of something, and reached out to poke Pei Lanqing.
Seeing him looking at her, she showed him hers, then pointed at his and drew a question mark on the table with her hand.
Pei Lanqing understood and looked down. The scratch marks on his palms had just scabbed over. He smiled softly and explained with the pencil in his hand: "I accidentally got scratched by a cat." He thought for a moment and added: "Maybe I offended it."
Lin Qianyuan asked, seemingly understanding: [Do you have a cat?]
[No, it's a stray cat in the school.]
She tilted her head and asked sincerely: [It scratched you, aren't you angry?]
Pei Lanqing had never thought she would say this, so he asked jokingly, "Why should I be angry?"
Lin Qianyuan tapped his chin with a pen, thinking.
Pei Lanqing packed up his things and typed on his phone instead of using a pen. [Not angry.]
Lin Qianyuan seemed not to believe it.
Pei Lanqing's almond-shaped eyes curved slightly, and he said honestly, "Now that I think about it, maybe a little bit. Because of this, I have to get my third vaccine shot later."
【that's all? 】
Pei Lanqing really laughed this time, [Of course.]
After she finished reading this, he continued, "Okay, that's all for today. I'm going back now. See you tomorrow."
He didn't say a word, and Lin Qianyuan looked slightly displeased. She grabbed the corner of his schoolbag, then quickly let go. She typed on her phone: [Let's add each other's contact information.]
She said frankly, "The person who contacted you before was my dad's assistant."
Lin Qianyuan said without hiding anything, "I'm not familiar with them."
Pei Lanqing had no intention of delving into the specific meaning of her words. He was not that curious and just nodded, which meant it was okay.
Lin Qianyuan smiled.
This was the first time he saw her expression relax since he entered the attic. He couldn't help but look at her twice more, then quickly lowered his head.
Being looked at more than she wanted was not embarrassing. She shrugged her shoulders, called back, confirmed the contact information, and asked first: "Can I contact you anytime?"
It was probably related to tutoring, Pei Lanqing replied, "Yeah."
Lin Qianyuan achieved her goal, so she stopped trying to keep him and waved goodbye to him.
When she did this action, the corners of her mouth rose slightly, her eyes curved slightly, and her whole body exuded a bright and smiling look.
Did something happy happen?
Pei Lanqing felt strange inside. Somehow, he touched the scar on his palm, turned around, and took in the entire painting on the canvas - a man hunting a lion.
Pei Lanqing turned his eyes away and left.
Lin Qianyuan continued waving until she could no longer see his back. She lowered her head and stared at the portrait on the screen in a daze.
His profile picture is also a cat, the most common tabby cat.
Do you like it so much? Lin Qianyuan lowered his head and couldn't help thinking.
The rain outside the window stopped, and a civet cat poked its head out of the wooden house in the backyard of the small building, looking around at its first home. It was not yet used to it.
The person who had already walked to the door suddenly turned around and looked towards the attic. Lin Qianyuan looked at him without dodging or avoiding.
