Chapter 47 Theater 2

The opera on the stage was singing "Yiya Yiya Ya". Li Nian listened attentively, trying hard to understand its meaning.

"Madam Yun, do you know the name of this play?"

"I don't know." Li Nian smiled awkwardly and apologized, "I seldom listen to operas, so I don't know much about these."

To be honest, opera is nice to listen to, but she doesn't understand it.

Hearing this, the princess's eyes lit up with a hint of smile as she explained softly, "This play tells the story of a woman who, having been exceptionally talented since childhood, was forced to marry and have children because of her status as a woman. She spent the first half of her life trapped in her husband's backyard. Then, the country was struck by disaster and invaded by foreign enemies. Her husband, a hypocritical man who favored his concubine over his wife, abandoned her in times of crisis, leaving her penniless and homeless."

"Later, not only did this woman not die in the chaotic world, but she disguised herself as a man and earned great military exploits in the military camp."

"The most outstanding quote in this play is, 'Who says women are inferior to men?'"

The princess suddenly leaned close to her ear, and her soft voice, accompanied by a cold fragrance, came slowly: "I'm telling you quietly, this play is adapted from the secret history of this dynasty, and its prototype is the old lady of the Qi Mansion."

At this point, the princess paused for a moment, her voice becoming slightly lower, and the scent of cold fragrance seemed to be closer. "I'll tell you another secret. Old Lady Qi's lifelong love is also a woman."

The princess' words were like thunder thrown into a calm lake.

In an instant, Li Nian felt as if his brain exploded, his face turned visibly red, and his heart was beating wildly with inexplicable nervousness.

She suppressed her inner turmoil, tried to maintain composure, and asked, "Princess, what do you mean by telling me this? I only like my husband, not women!"

Li Nian felt that the world in this book was too strange. Why would people consider them "homosexual" just because they were close? Couldn't it just be pure friendship?

She and Sisi knew each other when they were young and grew up supporting each other. Although they were not biological sisters, they were better than biological sisters.

In the modern world, she didn't think there was anything wrong. Why do people in this world think that she and Sisi are having an affair?

Li Nian really wanted to seriously explain her relationship with Sisi, but she felt that explanation would be a cover-up, so it would be better to ignore it.

She didn't want to watch the show anymore and just wanted to leave now!

Seeing her reaction, the princess, although she looked calm on the surface, was still sensitive to her anger.

She pursed her lips, slowly sat up straight, lowered her eyes, and closed them to hide the emotions in them.

She said in a somewhat embarrassed tone, "Madam Yun is a very perceptive person. I have overstepped the boundaries."

Li Sisi didn't understand the opera, but she always pretended to understand.

I just saw the princess and Li Nian whispering together, and I was very curious. Now I see them sitting upright and keeping a distance from each other, and the atmosphere seems to be a little wrong?

What had they said behind her back? How could someone as good-tempered as Nian Nian have such a quarrel with someone as gentle as the princess?

When the Fourth Prince saw how dejected his princess sister was, he knew that he had hit a wall.

Haha, it’s really ridiculous that a good woman doesn’t think about men but women.

Can a woman give her the happiness that a man can give her?

After one play ends, the actors have half an incense stick of time to rest before the next one begins.

Li Sisi was still thinking about the sanitary napkins, so she took advantage of the actors' break to ask the Fourth Prince about cotton.

She leaned out halfway, looked at the Fourth Prince, and asked, "Your Highness, I heard that you like to collect rare species. Have you ever seen a plant that produces fruit that looks like clouds?"

Upon hearing this, the Fourth Prince imitated her, leaning halfway forward and asking in surprise, "I've seen it before. It just so happened that the gardener on my farm just planted it a while ago. Does Madam Xiao know about it?"

"I do know." Li Sisi became happy. The Fourth Prince actually had it!

Li Sisi explained seriously, "It's called cotton. The soft white fruit inside can be made into clothes, bedding, and other daily necessities. It also has excellent warmth retention properties."

Her bright eyebrows raised slightly, and her expression of joy and anticipation was obvious: "Can you sell some to me?"

"How much do you want?" The Fourth Prince looked at her bright and flamboyant smile, his heart slightly moved.

He didn't know that Xiao Yunchen's wife was so charming.

"I want as much as you have," Li Sisi said, a straightforward person who never minces words. "I wonder what price you plan to sell it for, Your Highness the Fourth Prince?"

The Fourth Prince looked up at her carefully. Her face was full of joy and expression, which was very different from the women he had seen before.

He frowned thoughtfully and said, "If you only want a few, I can give them to you for free. But if you want them all, I'm afraid the price is beyond your reach. I've spent a lot of time and effort searching for these seeds, and I haven't figured out their value yet."

He deliberately suppressed his brows and said in a deep voice: "Second Madam, don't be too greedy."

Upon hearing this, Li Nian quickly interjected, "Your Highness, the Fourth Prince, we don't need a lot. Just give us about one or two kilograms, and sell us some seeds, okay?"

When the princess heard Li Nian also asking for cotton, she looked at the Fourth Prince and said, "Fourth brother, don't you have a large field of cotton on your farm? It's useless for you to have that stuff, so why not give it to them?"

The Fourth Prince was really unhappy this time: "I am useless, but they are useful?" This girl is chasing women herself, why should she sacrifice his hobby?
