Chapter 27: Broadening My Horizons

"Ah, that's refreshing!" Xia Yiyang exhaled after drinking more than half of her cola.

"Jiaojiao, let's go dance!" After saying that, he and Chu Lezhi pulled Chu Jiaojiao toward the DJ booth. Chu Jiaojiao could hardly dance; she'd be better off performing a set of boxing moves. The two of them just played around like crazy.

Chu Yanzhi looked at Chu Xingyue and said, "An'an, let's go together. I heard from you that you've all graduated from high school, so you can relax now."

"Let Jiaojiao play. She likes to try things she hasn't tried before. I'll just watch her play. Why don't you go and play?" Chu Xingyue retorted.

"I've never liked these things since I was little. I can do research and write academic reports, but I really can't dance. Practicing martial arts since I was a child is already my maximum limit," Chu Yanzhi said, pushing up his glasses.

The two chatted casually like this. Chu Yanzhi felt that his younger sister, who had just returned, had no youthful vigor at all. She was like an old lady who had seen through the ways of Hongcheng. He wondered how she could have developed such a personality by living in a place like Wuxian.

Not far away, the three men walked back arm in arm when they were suddenly stopped by a young man. “Beautiful lady, you look a little unfamiliar. How about we brothers have a drink with you?” Seeing that the man was obviously drunk, the three men stopped and looked at the booth the man was pointing to. Inside the booth were men and women, laughing and joking at the group.

Xia Yiyang and Chu Le instinctively stepped in front of Chu Jiaojiao. The two hot-blooded boys were instantly enraged when they saw someone speaking rudely to their sister.

"Hey, Liu Jie, are you sure you can handle this? Why haven't you brought the person over yet?" A man in the booth urged Liu Jie, who was blocking the three people's way.

Chu Jiaojiao squeezed her head between her two brothers. Although she was not short for an average girl, she looked a little short next to the two boys who were nearly 1.9 meters tall.

"Is what you said true, brother? You really want to buy me drinks?" Xia Yiyang grabbed Chu Jiaojiao's arm. "Jiaojiao, are you serious? Drinking with someone like this? Brother? You haven't even called me brother yet. Come on, your brothers will drink with you." He then tried to pull Chu Jiaojiao back to the booth.

Xia Yiyang felt a tug at his sleeve. He looked down, then looked up again. "No way, Jiaojiao, you really want to go?" Chu Jiaojiao asked Xia Yiyang in a low voice. "You said this is a place your familiar brothers run? Watch me boost your sales today." Then she sweetly added, "Come on, brother, I'm very picky. I don't care for ordinary wines." Chu Jiaojiao proudly raised her chin, acting like a spoiled young lady.

Feeling uneasy, Chu Lezhi and Xia Yiyang followed.

The men and women in the next booth immediately cheered, "Wow, Liu Jie, you actually brought him!" "That's right."

After taking her seat, Chu Jiaojiao turned to the waiter and said, "Excuse me, could you please bring me your wine list? This is my first time here, and I don't know what wines you have. I'd like to pick one out."

"Okay, just a moment." The waiter quickly brought the wine list, which was marked with scribbles and checkmarks. The waiter glanced at it in the dim light, his eyes widening. Xia Yiyang, sitting in the corner, nudged the waiter and looked at him. The waiter understood the meaning in Xia Yiyang's eyes, lowered his head, put away the wine list, and walked to the bar. He pushed the wine list behind the bar, where a hand took it from a distance.

"Hey, a big order, huh? Which spendthrift family is this?" The man looked up at the waitress. "It's one of those rich kids harassing a new girl. That girl's in for it. I don't know how these girls can be so wicked." "Mind your own business and stop meddling," the man behind the bar hissed at the waitress.

"I know, bro. We see this kind of thing all the time. Even though they don't dare cause trouble in our shop, what happens if they get drunk and are taken out? I really hope someone with powerful connections comes along to teach these spoiled brats a lesson." "Alright, get back to work." The man waved for the waiter to leave. This kid had been here for the past two or three years, but he hadn't been blinded by this place and had maintained his kindness. But in the heart of Beijing, for ordinary people, having a job and being able to control their mouths is already incredibly difficult. Who would want to show their kindness in a place like this?
