Chapter 12 You just need to touch it back.

Although Liu Juan felt the pinch, she still went to get it because she thought about Ye Xiaoxiao's unborn child. This completely broke Li Yanhong's resolve.

He threw two bricks on the ground and said, "I want to eat eggs too!"

“Pick it up. Your time isn’t up yet; there are still 15 minutes left.”

Ye Xiaoxiao took the eggs, not forgetting to teach Li Yanhong a lesson. She pointed a stick at her.

"Mom, look at her!" Li Yanhong hoped her parents would say something on her behalf, but everyone was probably afraid of Ye Xiaoxiao's mouth, and no one said a word. Even Liu Juan simply took her bowl and went outside to eat.

"Hurry up. Otherwise I'll go out and tell everyone you stole money."

Li Yanhong had no choice but to lift the brick again, but it looked as if she was lifting a mountain.

Ye Xiaoxiao held the eggs but didn't rush to the kitchen. Instead, she watched Li Yanhong until she had been punished for an hour, when the system announced that the task was complete.

[Mission complete. Reward: 10 rolls of toilet paper.]

【Yay! Tongzi, you're awesome!】 Ye Xiaoxiao, having successfully received the toilet paper, immediately rushed to the kitchen.

Li Yanhong was exhausted and hungry. Seeing that Ye Xiaoxiao had finally let her go, she immediately threw down the two bricks. Unexpectedly, they hit her right foot instead, causing her to let out a painful scream. "Ah!"

Li Chenyang had just finished eating when he heard his wife calling him from the kitchen.

I wasn't in the mood to care about my younger sister's foot; it was just a minor bump on the instep. It would hurt for a moment and then be fine.

Ye Xiaoxiao asked Li Chenyang to get her a new pot. She washed the pot clean. "Start the fire. I want to fry some eggs."

[Tongzi, next time get me some food. Snacks, something you can just take out and you'll have something to eat, like jerky. Right now, if I try to cook a meal, they'll all accuse me of stealing food. Giving me meat or something is useless.]

Li Chenyang casually added some heat to the pan. It was just a matter of frying some eggs.

Ye Xiaoxiao poured some flour into a small bowl, added water to make a batter, greased the pan, and prepared to make a pancake; one would be enough for her.

Li Yanhong limped into the kitchen to get her food. She saw Ye Xiaoxiao making her a flatbread. After getting her food, she lingered, unwilling to leave.

The pancakes were ready in no time. Ye Xiaoxiao then coated them with egg, sprinkled on some chili powder and salt, and that was it. With the egg, they were flavorful and delicious.

"Sister-in-law, let me have a bite!" Li Yanhong never expected that she could do this. Looking at the golden yellow color, her mouth watered.

"I don't have enough to eat yet. If you want more, ask Mom for eggs. I'll make them myself!" Ye Xiaoxiao rolled them up and popped them into her mouth.

After lunch, it was noon, and everyone was resting. A group of boys all ran to the river to catch fish.

"Want to go to the river? It's cooler there, you can cool off too!" Li Chenyang planned to go with his younger brothers, mainly because all the boys were going, and he had to keep an eye on them.

"I'm not going. You go see if there are any fish, crabs, or clams. If there are, bring them back for me. It'll be good to have a treat!" As soon as Ye Xiaoxiao finished speaking, a few boys waiting outside poked their heads in.

"Sister-in-law, you know how to cook! Last time we brought back a bag of big river clams, we wanted to cook them for Mom and Second Sister, but they said they didn't know how, and they ended up letting them rot." The boys, of course, wanted to eat meat.

"Yes, it's very simple. You just need to find them!"

Hearing this, the boys excitedly rushed towards the riverbank. The afternoon sun was blazing, and Ye Xiaoxiao rode her bicycle to the town's cooperative.

She bought some ginger and soy sauce, and there were scallions and garlic in the field, so she had money anyway.

However, even though it has been 81 years, some things still require tickets.

Thinking back to the plot, it seems like it's going to mean that next year we won't need tickets to buy things anymore.

Ye Xiaoxiao rode quite slowly on the road, after all, she was pregnant. She was only doing so because she had taken some health-enhancing pills.

The sun was gradually setting in the west, and the sky was dyed orange-red. Ye Xiaoxiao had just parked the car when she saw her second brother returning with his younger brothers, their laughter echoing through the air.

Several men, covered in sweat, worked together to lift a half-full sack of river clams, the heavy sack leaving a trail on the ground.

"Sister-in-law, we're back! We've touched so many!" Li Chenlei, the fifth brother, shouted excitedly, his face beaming with pride.

Ye Xiaoxiao smiled as she took the bag, looking at the river clams, each one with a large shell and plump meat, her heart filled with joy.

"You guys are really good. Go wash up, your sister-in-law will cook you something delicious later."

After parking the car, Ye Xiaoxiao casually asked, "Where's your brother?"

"Ah, the tractor in the east team broke down again, so I asked you to go and fix it."

The second brother replied that this was nothing out of the ordinary.

After graduating from junior high school, Li Chenyang went to work at the agricultural machinery station and even found a mentor. He worked as a tractor driver in the village for several years, and he was the most knowledgeable about tractor operation in the village.

He was basically free labor. For the next ten years or so, it was the same; whenever someone bought a motorcycle, they would ask him to repair it.

They've argued about this a lot. The problem is, he never cares about his own family; he's just helping out for free.

"What are you touching? There are so many!" Wang Ailing, who was sitting at the door sewing shoe soles, came over eagerly.

"Clams, these rascals are craving meat, but unlike Aunt Wang's family, we don't have meat ration coupons. We can only get a few of these to satisfy our cravings."

The younger brothers cheered and ran to wash their hands and faces. Ye Xiaoxiao poured the river clams into a large iron basin, filled it with water, and began to wash them.

She called over a few of the larger ones and showed them how to use a brush to carefully remove the mud and sand from the clam shells, then gently pry open the shells with a knife, remove the clam meat intact, and place it in another clean basin.

"Got it, sister-in-law, we'll get to work!" These young men were really going all out for food. They all got to work.
