Chapter 473 Only by sticking close to me can I find the right point of leverage
She gripped the club and struck a haphazard pose. Because she was distracted, her swing was off-target, and the club grazed the ground, kicking up a few blades of grass.
Seeing this, Zhou Mubin not only did not keep his distance, but instead quickly stepped forward and approached her from behind again before she could react.
This time, instead of just supporting her waist and gripping the pole, he wrapped his left arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. When his right hand covered the back of her hand, he deliberately tickled the sensitive spot on the inside of her wrist with his fingertips.
"Your posture is off again." His voice was deeper than before, with a deliberate hint of ambiguity. "You need to stick close to me to find the right point to exert force."
Cui Xiao's body instantly tensed up like a stone, the heat on her cheeks spread down her neck to behind her ears, and even her breathing became rapid.
The fragrance lingering around her nose grew stronger, and the warmth of his chest burned through her two thin layers of clothing, making her heart race.
She endured it all, but finally managed to push him away, her face deathly pale. She lowered her voice, her voice laced with suppressed anger, "Zhou Mubin, that's enough. Aren't you afraid your fiancée will find out and beat you?" The moment the word "fiancée" left her lips, Zhou Mubin's arm around her waist stiffened abruptly, his movements freezing instantly.
He looked down at her flushed ears and tense profile, a genuine look of surprise flashing in his eyes.
He deliberately suppressed the news of his engagement in Hong Kong from mainland media, but he never expected her to find out.
This surprise lasted only two seconds before being replaced by a deeper smile in his eyes.
Instead of letting go, he tightened his arms, bringing them even closer together, his lips almost touching her earlobe. "Oh? It seems I hold a significant place in Vice President Cui's heart. He even pays special attention to something as small as my engagement. I'm truly flattered."
These words were like a spark, instantly igniting Cui Xiao's pent-up anger.
She was already burning with anger because of his overstepping his bounds, and now, hearing his words, she felt even more ashamed and furious.
She suddenly bent her knee and thrust it backward, taking advantage of the moment when Zhou Mubin loosened his grip in pain, she quickly turned around and broke free from his hold, taking two steps back to create distance between them.
She raised her hand to straighten the wrinkled collar of her shirt, looking directly into his half-smiling eyes, her gaze filled with cold mockery. "The news of Attorney Zhou's engagement has made the front page of the Hong Kong financial section. It's hard for me not to know about it."
Zhou Mubin clutched his lower abdomen where he had been bumped, and upon hearing her barrage of cold words, he felt no anger whatsoever; instead, he chuckled softly.
He straightened up, his eyes brimming with an irrepressible smile, even the corners of his eyes radiating genuine joy, as if her retort wasn't a rebuke, but rather a sweet response.
"Cui Xiao".
He deliberately called her by her name instead of "Vice President Cui," his tone full of certainty, "You still care after all."
Cui Xiao was thoroughly enraged by his self-deluded behavior. Her face flushed red, and she gritted her teeth as she cursed, "Zhou Mubin, you're absolutely insane!"
After finishing his rant, he turned around, grabbed his handbag from the bench, and walked towards the stadium exit without looking back.
The sneakers stomped on the grass, making a rapid sound, each step conveying a resolute desire to escape.
But after taking only a few steps, his wrist was gripped by a tremendous force.
Zhou Mubin caught up with her at some point, and the force in his palm was so great that he almost crushed her wrist.
Cui Xiao struggled to shake him off, but he suddenly pulled her back forcefully.
She lost her balance and stumbled into a firm embrace. Before she could even cry out, he firmly held the back of her head with his palm.
The next second, his lips, carrying a cool and refreshing scent, pressed firmly against hers.
Five years of longing came to life, and all my emotions completely spiraled out of control the moment I touched her lips.
Zhou Mubin's kiss was filled with extreme desire and obsession, lingering and caressing, as if he wanted to make up for the five years that had passed.
He tightened his grip on the back of her head, bringing them closer together, while his other hand held her waist tightly, giving her no chance to break free.
Cui Xiao's mind went blank. The touch on her lips was both strange and familiar, making all the blood rush to her head.
After a moment of stunned silence, reason and anger suddenly returned.
She suddenly turned her head and bit his lower lip hard.
A sharp pain shot through him, and Zhou Mubin instinctively loosened his grip and took a half-step back.
Cui Xiao seized the opportunity to break free, covering her lips with her hand, her chest heaving violently.
Looking at Zhou Mubin again, fine beads of blood had seeped from his lower lip, sliding down the lip line and standing out starkly against his fair skin.
Her almond-shaped eyes stared intently at him, filled with anger and shame.
Just then, familiar footsteps came from not far away. Zhang Da, carrying two bottles of water, walked briskly over and called out from afar, "How's your ball practice going? I'm going to get some water. You can't play ball without water on a day like this..."
Before he could finish speaking, his gaze fell on Zhou Mubin, whose lower lip was bleeding, with fine beads of blood trickling down the lip line, standing out starkly against his fair skin.
Zhang Da's smile froze, and he subconsciously asked, "Attorney Zhou, what happened to your lip? Did you bump it?"
Cui Xiao's heart jumped into her throat instantly, and her fingertips trembled with nervousness.
Just as she was about to make an excuse to smooth things over, she heard Zhou Mubin speak casually, his gaze seemingly sweeping over her pale face, "It's nothing, I was just bitten."
"Bite, bite?"
Zhang Da's gaze swept back and forth between the two of them in an instant. When he saw Cui Xiao still covering her lips and her face as pale as paper, his pupils contracted slightly.
Zhou Mubin suddenly curled his lips into a meaningful sneer, the ambiguity and provocation in which even a fool could understand.
A thought flashed through Mr. Zhang's mind, and he instantly understood what had happened when they were alone. He quickly smoothed things over, "Haha, drink some water to cool down. It's about time we went to have dinner."
Dinner was at a private restaurant near the stadium, where the warm yellow lighting in the private room somewhat eased the awkwardness from before.
Mr. Zhang specially ordered a bottle of aged red wine and frequently poured wine for Zhou Mubin, his conversation revolving around the cooperation between the two companies.
Zhou Mubin accepted all offers of wine, never emptying his glass once it was raised. He tore open the collar of his light gray shirt in two places, revealing wine stains on his collarbone, and the clarity in his eyes was gradually replaced by drunkenness.
Cui Xiao silently ate her rice the whole time, only managing to say a few words when Zhang Da occasionally called on her, her gaze always avoiding Zhou Mubin's gaze.
When the show ended, Zhou Mubin was already unsteady on his feet and had to lean against the door frame to keep his balance.
Cui Xiao wanted to help Zhang Da get the car, as she had said she would take her boss home that morning, but Zhang Da seemed to suddenly remember something, pulled her to a corner, and whispered, "Cui Xiao, I have something to tell you. Attorney Zhou is willing to be our company's annual legal counsel, and it will be free."
Cui Xiao was stunned, thinking she had misheard.
