Chapter 376 Don't Not Love Her, and Then Harm Her

Chapter 376 Don't Not Love Her, and Then Harm Her

He held her hand down. "Stop fooling around. Let's get in the car first."

Cui Xiao's struggles were completely useless against Zhou Mubin. Not only did she fail to break free, but he also dragged her into the car.

The rain continued to fall, and the damp cold made her shiver uncontrollably.

Looking into Zhou Mubin's earnest eyes, she suddenly felt powerless.

She initially thought he was just acting on a whim, and that the aloof Attorney Zhou would never stoop to such a lowly position. She assumed he would eventually leave when he got impatient.

But Zhou Mubin stubbornly used this method to gradually break down her strong defenses.

Inside the car, the windshield wipers were running non-stop, and Cui Xiao's hair was soaked, as were her clothes.

She huddled in the passenger seat, her wet hair plastered to her neck and cheeks. The icy touch made her involuntarily move further into the corner, trying to distance herself from the man in the driver's seat.

The car's heater was on full blast, but she still felt stiff all over. It wasn't the cold; it was the stiffness caused by the silence in the cramped space.

Zhou Mubin didn't start the car immediately. He just raised his hand and pressed the dehumidifier button inside the car. The air blew out slowly from the vent, carrying a warm airflow, but it couldn't dispel the tension between the two of them.

He turned his head to look at her, his gaze falling on the water droplets dripping from the ends of her hair. The droplets slid down her soft jawline and disappeared into the soaked collar of her shirt, leaving a faint watermark.

He took a clean towel from the storage compartment and handed it to her, his fingertips hovering in mid-air. "Dry your hair."

Cui Xiao didn't even lift her eyelids, turning her head to look out the window.

The windshield wipers were still swaying from side to side, scraping the rainwater off the glass and leaving blurry streaks. The streetlights outside shone through the car window, casting dappled light and shadow on her face.

Her voice was soft, but her attitude was clear: "Zhou Mubin, we are both adults. Just say what you want to do directly. There's no need to beat around the bush."

Zhou Mubin withdrew his hand, the towel still clutched in his palm, his fingertips unconsciously rubbing the soft fabric. His tone finally carried a hint of barely perceptible gloom, "How have you considered what I told you?"

Should we make her break up with Mo Ziqian?

Cui Xiao's disgust for him had exceeded its limit. She suddenly looked at Zhou Mubin and said, "Zhou Mubin, you were the one who manipulated Ziqian's job transfer behind the scenes, weren't you? I only knew you were a ruthless person before, but I only realized today that you are also a despicable and shameless person."

Instantly, the already delicate atmosphere between the two froze. Zhou Mubin stared at her intently. "You think I did it?"

She answered decisively, "Otherwise, who else but you could be so despicable?"

These words were like a fine needle, gently pricking Zhou Mubin's heart.

He was silent for a few seconds, then sneered, "Since that's what you think, fine."

After saying that, Zhou Mubin started the car.

The roar of the engine broke the silence inside the car, and the car slowly drove out of the parking lot and merged into the traffic of the rainy night.

Cui Xiao continued to look out the window, but out of the corner of her eye, she couldn't help but keep an eye on his movements.

His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, as if he wanted to crush it; his knuckles were white.

Zhou Mubin's voice suddenly broke her thoughts, "You've accommodated me for so many years, one more time won't make a difference. Tonight we're having Cantonese food at the place you and I usually go to."

He was driving very fast, especially on rainy days, and Cui Xiao even felt that he was driving too recklessly.

Cui Xiao's face turned pale with nervousness. "I said you can have Liu Xiaojie go with you."

Zhou Mubin's thin lips curled up, and suddenly, the light ahead turned red, and he slammed on the brakes.

Cui Xiao's body lurched forward due to inertia, but before she could lean back, Zhou Mubin's arm was already on her shoulder.

He leaned very close, his thin lips brushing against her ear, a half-smile on his face, "Are you jealous seeing me with her?"

Since Cui Xiao left the company, Zhou Mubin has been in a state of turmoil.

During this period of time, he had not touched any women and had no interest in them whatsoever.

Today, Liu Xiaojie is returning from abroad, and he was asked to pick her up at the airport. Zhou Mubin initially didn't want to go, but he suddenly wanted to try and see if this woman could pique his interest. After all, he used to like her quite a bit; they got along well both in and out of bed.

If he can truly pique his interest, it proves that his feelings for Cui Xiao are nothing more than that, and then he naturally doesn't need to continue pursuing her.

Even Zhou Mubin himself found this kind of entanglement annoying.

But the truth is, when he saw Liu Xiaojie, he felt nothing, neither psychologically nor physically.

Especially when Liu Xiaojie made an ambiguous invitation to him at the end, Zhou Mubin felt disgusted.

He's finished.

It's completely over.

Cui Xiao finally turned her head, a mocking smile in her eyes, "Jealous, Zhou Mubin, don't you think it's ridiculous? What you and Liu Xiaojie are like has no effect on me at all."

Her words struck Zhou Mubin like a hammer blow.

Their eyes met, and Zhou Mubin seemed to be trying to see right through her. "Is that so?"

Cui Xiao turned her face away. "Zhou Mubin, I'm tired and want to go home. Either stop the car now and let me out, or just drive straight to my building."

Silence fell over the car again.

The windshield wipers continued working tirelessly, as if providing accompaniment to this stalemate.

At this moment, the red light turned green. Zhou Mubin didn't say anything more. He gently pressed the accelerator, and the car moved slowly.

The car drove slowly on the rainy night road, as if it was delaying something, or waiting for something.

Cui Xiao leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes.

The soaked clothes gradually dried under the heat of the heater, but the chill in my heart did not lessen at all.

After a long while, Cui Xiao seemed tired. She asked softly, "Zhou Mubin, how can you let me go?"

How can I let her go?

Is he some kind of monster?

Zhou Mubin's face was icy cold, but a smile appeared on his lips. He glanced at the rearview mirror and saw Cui Xiao's tired expression.

“You know me. I always feel that what I don’t have is the best. Maybe it’s the same for you, Cui Xiao. If you want me to let you go, why don’t you let me have you? Once I have you, the novelty will wear off, and I’ll get tired of you, and then I’ll naturally let you go.”

Cui Xiao gritted her teeth and frowned.

Zhou Mubin, however, felt that wasn't enough and continued, "Besides, I think you wouldn't want to implicate others for no reason, wouldn't you say?"

Cui Xiao stared straight ahead, "Lawyer Zhou really has perfectly embodied the despicable behavior of a villain."

Zhou Mubin said, "There's nothing I can do. I've never been one to compromise myself. What I want, I don't need to get."

At that time, the car was parked outside the residential area where Cui Xiao lived.

Then, Zhou Mubin received a slap from Cui Xiao across the face.

He didn't dodge, nor did he get angry.

His deep eyes stared at her angry face, and he chuckled, "I'll give you three days to think it over, Cui Xiao. Don't hurt her without loving her; that's a bit unfair."
