Chapter 371 Going Home

As the sun slowly rises, the sky gradually brightens.

The prison doors finally opened.

Xu Pingrong, dressed in grayish-white clothes and with a thin build, walked out of the narrow door.

"Mother!"

Xu Wan rushed over, clutching the flowers.

Previously, the mother and daughter could only talk through a thick glass barrier, but now they can finally hug each other!

The moment Xu Wan hugged her mother, tears were already streaming down her face.

Xu Pingrong was the same; she looked at her daughter, tears streaming down her face, unable to utter a single word.

When the incident happened, Xu Wan was only in the sixth grade of elementary school and was only about 1.4 meters tall. Now that she has been released, her daughter has not only grown taller and more grown up, but is even married!

After a brief exchange of pleasantries between the mother and daughter, Xu Wan introduced her husband to her mother: "Mom, this is my husband. He used the name Jiang Xuanzhou when he was a lawyer. His real name is Jiang Tingzhou."

Jiang Tingzhou stood beside Xu Wan and greeted her politely, "Mom, it's been a long time. I am now Wanwan's husband, Jiang Tingzhou."

Even after so many years, Xu Pingrong could still recognize Jiang Tingzhou at a glance as the lawyer from the final trial.

“Attorney Jiang, I am so grateful to you back then, and I am also grateful that you did not look down on my situation and married Wanwan.”

Standing in front of Jiang Tingzhou, Xu Pingrong unconsciously felt the man's powerful aura, and his behavior became somewhat awkward.

"It is my honor to marry Wanwan." Jiang Tingzhou paused for a moment, then continued, "Also, when I was your lawyer, I was too young and lacked practical experience, so I was unable to defend you better. I am very sorry."

"No, no. Both of my previous lawyers told me to be prepared for the death penalty or life imprisonment. I was prepared to spend my whole life in prison. Now that I'm out and can be with my daughter, I'm already very content."

Xu Pingrong genuinely felt that way.

She wasn't well-educated and didn't know much about the law, but she did know that murderers should pay with their lives.

Regardless of the reason, she killed her husband, and paying with her life is the most normal thing to do.

As the morning breeze blew by, Xu Wan quickly took her mother's arm: "Mom, let's get in the car first."

Jiang Tingzhou stood still. "Wanwan, take Mom to the back of the car and change her clothes. I'll get in the car after she's changed."

“Okay,” Xu Wan agreed.

Jiang Tingzhou stood with his back to the station, while Xu Wan and her mother changed clothes in the back of the car.

Xu Pingrong hadn't ridden in a car many times when she was young, and she was amazed by the spaciousness of the back seat when she got in.

Seeing the clothes Xu Wan had taken out, he couldn't help but say, "These are such nice clothes, you should keep them."

"Mom, this is specially bought for you. Don't be reluctant to spend the money. Our lives are better now. My salary alone is not low. You can buy whatever you want in the future. Don't worry about not having enough money."

Xu Wan tried to persuade Xu Pingrong.

Xu Pingrong glanced at Jiang Tingzhou standing outside the car and felt very guilty, so he changed his clothes first.

Afterwards, Xu Wan handed the old clothes to Jiang Tingzhou, who took them to the trash can at the prison gate specifically for throwing away clothes and threw them in.

After changing his clothes, Jiang Tingzhou drove Xu Pingrong home.

Once the car arrived at the underground parking garage, Xu Pingrong said, "I just got out of prison, so... maybe I shouldn't stay with you guys?"

Before Xu Wan could speak, Jiang Tingzhou said, "Mom, you went to prison to protect Wanwan back then. When I was your lawyer, I thought you were very brave. Now that Wanwan and I are married, my gratitude towards you is even greater. I really hope that you can live with us and enjoy your old age."

"Mom, let's go, we've already decorated your bedroom."

Xu Wan linked arms with Xu Pingrong.

For so many years, she had longed to be this close to her mother, and now her wish had finally come true.

The mother and daughter walked hand in hand, with Jiang Tingzhou following beside them.

Upon entering his home, Xu Pingrong was stunned by the sight of the luxurious mansion before him.

Some were even too afraid to step inside.

"Mom, come in. We'll live here from now on." Xu Wan said, seeing her mother's hesitant expression. "I was able to marry Jiang Tingzhou because of you. I will work hard to give you a better life."

Xu Pingrong looked at Xu Wan and finally stepped into the house.
