Chapter 9 There is a person in the mountains

Chapter 9 There is a person in the mountains

"Who are you? If you break our door, you'll have to pay for it!"

Er Ya went to open the courtyard gate, and there was a fat woman inside.

"I'm not going to pay you anything! Where's that vixen of yours? Tell that vixen to come out here!"

The obese woman happened to see Ye Wan coming out of the house, and her face turned very ugly. "Well, you shameless vixen, you're the one who seduced my son-in-law!"

Ye Wan frowned, "Did you eat shit this early in the morning? Your mouth stinks. Who seduced your son-in-law?"

The obese woman rolled up her sleeves and said, "You slut, you dare to do it but not admit it! I'll tear that man-seduce face of yours to shreds today!"

Just then, a sturdy and honest-looking boy of about sixteen or seventeen came running up, covered in sweat, followed by a group of men and women.

The sturdy boy anxiously grabbed the obese woman, "Aunt, I've already said it has nothing to do with Daya, what are you doing? Why are you causing trouble at someone else's doorstep? Her father is not someone to be trifled with!"

"Brother Erniu?"

Daya came out of the kitchen and asked, "What happened?"

The obese woman shoved Zhang Erniu aside, pointed at his nose and cursed, "You, Zhang Erniu, are you going to protect this vixen? My daughter Lamei and you are engaged since childhood, and you said you wanted to break off the engagement after saving someone yesterday, and you even said that this vixen had bewitched you!"

The obese woman slapped her thigh and started crying and making a scene, while also glaring at Ye Wan with her eyes.

With that sly, foxy look, what good could she possibly be?

Ye Wan heard clearly that the person was coming for Da Ya and mistook her for Da Ya.

But this is really outrageous. Da Ya looks only ten years old, right? Do people in the village get married this early?

Zhang Erniu wants to break off his original engagement and marry Daya?

Zhang Erniu's face turned red from the scolding, and he stammered, "I was thinking that since I saved Daya, I should take responsibility, I..."

Da Ya said with a sullen face, "No need, Zhang Erniu. I'm grateful that you took me to the clinic, but you don't need to take responsibility."

Zhang Erniu looked at Daya's embarrassed and disappointed face.

He thought Daya was smart and sensible, much better than his cousin, so he mentioned it to his parents. Unexpectedly, his aunt overheard him as she entered the room.

Da Ya didn't look at him, and with a serious face, she said to the fat woman, "I'm sorry, Auntie, I didn't know anything about this! It's all a misunderstanding!"

The obese woman glanced at Ye Wan and then at Daya, persisting relentlessly, "You think it's a misunderstanding? I think you're just a slut at such a young age... ah!"

Er Ya swept the broom across him, yelling, "You fatso, how can your mouth be so foul? What do you think Zhang Erniu is? My older sister wouldn't even look at him. Who cares? Get out of here, get out of here right now!"

Ye Wan frowned as well, annoyed that someone would use such foul language to insult a child.

The obese woman was swept back, yelling, "You brat, who are you calling names? Believe me or not, I'll hit you! Your family has to give me an explanation today!"

What kind of explanation do you want?

As Ye Wan spoke, she glanced at the people staring at her curiously at the door, including Aunt Wang from yesterday. It was the perfect time to establish her persona.

"My daughter, Lamei, cried her heart out at home after hearing about this..."

Ye Wan interrupted her, "She's not dead yet, is she? You're insulting my Daya without even knowing the facts. My Daya doesn't want to live anymore. Pay up!"

"What? You want me to pay you back?" The obese woman was stunned.

Ye Wan said coldly, "My daughter is an innocent girl. You've smeared her like this. What if she does something rash later? You'd better pay up!"

"Yes, pay up!" Er Ya chimed in, hands on her hips, looking quite arrogant.

Just then, Zhang Erniu's parents came running over, covered in sweat.

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry! It's all a misunderstanding!"

"Get out of here! Who told you to cause trouble here? Be careful Lin Anyuan doesn't beat you up!"

The obese woman was pulled away by Zhang Erniu's parents, and the few people who came to watch the commotion whispered among themselves.

Zhang Erniu looked at Ye Wan, opened his mouth as if to say something, but Er Ya slammed the courtyard gate shut.

"unlucky!"

After everyone left, Ye Wan turned her head and saw Lin Anyuan coming out of the house. Thinking of the loss she had suffered, her anger rose up early in the morning.

"Lin Anyuan, are you deaf or blind? Can't you hear the people outside bullying your daughter?"

Lin Anyuan glanced at Daya and said, "Why should I get involved if I can handle it myself? What if I'm not there? Are we just going to let others bully us?"

Da Ya lowered her head.

Ye Wan frowned, "What kind of talk is that? Isn't your daughter your own? They were pointing their fingers at you and saying such nasty things..."

"Um."

Suddenly hearing a response, Ye Wan paused for a moment, then looked at Daya and Erya, "Are they really not your biological children?"

Yes, they don't look alike at all.

Lin Anyuan isn't very old, he looks to be at most twenty, how could he possibly have two daughters who are so big?

“No, it’s not Daya, but it must be Sanya, right?” Ye Wan looked at him. “I think I just heard some villagers say that Sanya was your first child, and that you ran away after giving birth to her…”

"Shut up!"

Lin Anyuan, impatient to interrupt him, picked up the straw hat hanging on the wall and went out.

"Who goes there!"

Ye Wan watched his departing figure and kicked a leaf on the ground.

They act all high and mighty, but do nothing right!

Ye Wan lowered her head and Sanya carefully took her hand. "Mother, please don't be angry, okay?"

Daya said, "Erya, take Sanya to the kitchen to eat sweet potatoes."

Er Ya glared at Ye Wan, then left with San Ya.

Daya glanced at Ye Wan, then lowered her head and said in a low voice, "Actually... neither Er Ya nor I are Father's biological children, as you probably guessed."

Ye Wan understood. Da Ya and Er Ya weren't her biological children; they must have been brought by her stepmother. No wonder her attitude was so bad.

"Yes, it really isn't easy."

Seeing that Ye Wan's expression was normal, Daya breathed a sigh of relief. "I have to go to work today, and Erya also has to go out to work. Please take care of Sanya."

She could tell that Ye Wan had no intention of running away, so she felt at ease handing Sanya over to Ye Wan, but she couldn't bring herself to call her "Mother".

Da Ya and Er Ya have both left, leaving only Ye Wan and San Ya at home.

Last night there was brown rice porridge, and this morning there was only half a sweet potato, with no oil at all. Ye Wan is hungry again.

While the little girl wasn't paying attention, he took out a pear from his spatial storage and, after thinking for a moment, gave her the smallest pear as well.

"Sanya, come here." Ye Wan beckoned.

The little girl who was sitting in the yard munching on leaves came running over like a puppy.

Sanya's eyes lit up when she saw the pear, her mouth watered, and her lips were filthy.

Ye Wan frowned and took the leaf from her hand. Why does this child eat everything?

Seeing a basin of water drying in the yard, he pulled Sanya over to wash it clean before handing her the pear.

Sanya wolfed down her food, finishing it in just a few bites, and then stared longingly at Ye Wan.

Ye Wan touched her dry, yellow hair. "Is it delicious? I picked it from the tree. If you want more, I'll take you to pick some more."

Sanya's eyes narrowed into crescent moons as she held onto Ye Wan's hand tightly. "Mother, you're so kind. Let's go."

Ye Wanxin thought to herself that the little one was easy to coax, as long as there was milk... ah, pshaw, as long as there was food, that was her mother.

Ye Wan found some straw sandals for Sanya and wrapped her feet in rags before locking the door and carrying Sanya into the mountains.

As soon as I entered, I found edible mushrooms and wild vegetables, and there were also wild plums and wild fruits not far away.

Ye Wan was a little puzzled. Were the people in this place so poor? Didn't they know how to eat these things?

Ye Wan secretly put it into her space when San Ya wasn't paying attention, planning to plant it when she got back so she could have it whenever she wanted.

It would be best to get some meat; I'm starving every day without any oil or fat.

Just as I was thinking this, I heard Sanya shout.

"Mom, there's a rabbit!"

Ye Wan looked in the direction San Ya pointed and indeed there was a rabbit there.

A sudden inspiration struck me, and I sprinkled some spring water on the roadside weeds.

The rabbits seemed to be under a spell, coming straight for the scent.

Ye Wan reached out and grabbed it. The rabbit was so clueless that it only then realized it wanted to run away, but it was too late.

"Mom, you're so amazing!" Sanya looked at Ye Wan with admiration, drooling.

Sure enough, the spring water was a good thing. Ye Wan tied up the rabbit and found a peach tree, but unfortunately there were no peaches on it.

She broke off a tree branch and threw it into her spatial storage when Sanya wasn't looking, planning to plant it when she got back.

Fearing danger, Ye Wan placed Sanya on a thick tree branch and gathered a lot of edible things around her, but unfortunately, she only had this one rabbit.

"Mom, there are fish in the water over there!"

Ye Wan's eyes lit up when she heard this. If she could catch rabbits, she could definitely catch fish too.

Just as we started walking forward, Sanya called out again.

"Mother, there's someone here!"
