Chu Ting x Shadow ③
The shadow snorted and floated to his side.
Just then, Chu Ting's phone rang. It was a message from the classmate she had just discussed homework with.
Chu Ting looked down and typed a reply on the screen. Just as she put down her phone, a resentful voice came again: "Baby, why is he contacting you again?"
"They're asking about homework. They didn't understand it when we were doing it together earlier, so we can't just ignore them."
The shadow didn't respond, and remained silent for a long time.
Chu Ting found it strange and asked, "What's wrong? Are you unhappy again?"
After a few seconds of silence, the aggrieved voice rang out again: "Baby, do you like him?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
"Then why were you so patient when you were talking to him?"
"Isn't it natural to be patient when classmates ask questions?" Chu Ting sighed helplessly. "Besides, aren't I like that with everyone?"
“It’s different. Sometimes you’re mean to me when you talk to me.”
Chu Ting choked: "How can that be the same? You are..."
He stopped halfway through his sentence and didn't continue.
The shadow persisted, asking, "What am I?"
Chu Ting frowned: "You did this on purpose, didn't you?"
"Hmm?" The shadow feigned ignorance.
"Don't you know who I like?"
"Don't know? Who is it?"
Chu Ting stopped and turned around to look at his side. In fact, he couldn't see anything and could only judge the location of the shadow by feeling.
He stretched out his hand, palm up, and said softly, "Come here."
A few seconds later, I felt my palm being gently rubbed, like a puppy whining.
"He's an idiot," Chu heard.
He was a fool who, despite being just a kid himself, insisted on rushing to protect him and ended up getting hacked to death. He was a fool who could have been reincarnated but chose to forgo the cycle of rebirth and instead stayed by his side, endlessly circling around him.
The shadow understood and replied with a grin, "I'm an idiot!"
But after a while, his tone became low again: "But I'm a ghost. I'll never have a body, and I'll never be seen. You'll be facing a cloud of air every day, and you'll hardly remember what I look like anymore. Won't that be painful?"
“How could I forget what you look like? When you were little, you always wore a yellow dinosaur jacket, you had a little tiger tooth on your left side when you smiled, and a tuft of hair would stick up when you ran. I remember all of that. Besides,” Chu Ting paused before continuing, “So what if you don’t have a body? You still… make me feel like I’m dying every time.”
"Oh, baby, don't say things like that in public, it makes me feel embarrassed."
Chu Ting: ...
Who was it that touched him inappropriately in the bookstore just now?
Forget it, why bother arguing with a ghost?
He withdrew his hand, turned around and walked towards home: "I'm leaving, I'm going home."
"Baby, what are we going to do when we get home today?" Shadow immediately followed.
"Playing on my phone, playing games."
"Anything else?"
"It's gone."
"I think we can add one more item."
"What?"
"I haven't tried that pose from the last movie yet..."
"...Shut up."
