Lin Yanzhi x Duan Sheng ②

Lin Yanzhi x Duan Sheng ②

Lin Yanzhi didn't know why things had turned out this way.

His vision was blurred as he was pressed against the cold wall, a strong arm encircling his waist, tossing him like a small boat capsized in a storm.

He had prepared for the worst before he came. He knew that Duan Sheng was not the kind of person who would do something that would lose money. That inhibitor had been snatched from the pile of corpses in the research institute, and it had been stained with the blood of countless people. How could he possibly give it to him for nothing?

He had considered that the price of accepting Duan Sheng's help might be being assigned to the most dangerous epidemic area to clear out zombies, or having to hand over all the looted supplies in the future, but he never expected it to be like this.

Duan Sheng's hot breath sprayed on his neck, like a snake flicking its tongue. He tried to turn his head away, but his chin was grabbed by the other's other hand, forcing him to turn back.

He shook his head, sobbing, his face streaked with tears.

Zhou Mo's face suddenly appeared in her mind. They crawled out of a pile of corpses together, ate moldy bread together, and warmed each other in the cold night...

Zhou Mo was still waiting for him to go back, but he was here, trapped in another man's arms, doing such a shameful thing.

"Let...let me go..." he pleaded incoherently, "Please..."

But when Duan Sheng looked at his reddened eyes and trembling lips, he felt no pity whatsoever, but rather a more wicked thought arose in his heart.

That's it.

From the moment Lin Yanzhi and Zhou Mo stormed into their base covered in blood, begging him to take them in, the first time he saw Lin Yanzhi, he thought to himself, "Such a beautiful face should be made to cry by my own hands."

Lin Yanzhi was able to leave Duan Sheng's room the next day, her eyes red and swollen, and her legs trembling uncontrollably.

Their base was converted from a two-story warehouse. In the entire base, only Duan Sheng had a private room, while everyone else had to squeeze into a large dormitory on the first floor.

Zhou Mo was currently confined to a small corner, his hands still shackled, presumably to prevent the inhibitor from wearing off and causing him to suddenly mutate. Fortunately, the inhibitor was still effective; although Zhou Mo appeared weak, he hadn't caused any major problems.

When Zhou Mo saw him return, she immediately asked in a hoarse voice, "Where did you go? I didn't see you all night."

Lin Yan forced a smile: "The boss has sent me out to find supplies, so don't worry."

Zhou Mo looked at his pale face and said softly, "Yan Yan, you've worked hard."

Lin Yanzhi shook her head: "It's not hard work."

He forced himself to remain calm as he went to get the food. Today's rations consisted of a small piece of bread and a small bottle of Yakult for each person. Just as he was about to open the package, he heard Zhou Mo's stomach rumble.

He looked up at Zhou Mo: "Didn't you eat?"

Zhou Mo avoided his gaze and said in a low voice, "I ate."

Lin Yanzhi felt a pang of sadness. Zhou Mo always had a better appetite than him; how could he possibly finish such a small piece of bread? He reluctantly broke off half of his own small piece of bread and handed it to him.

Zhou Mo turned his face away: "I won't eat it. I'm already half dead."

"But your virus has already been suppressed."

"It's only temporary. After seven days, I will still mutate. We all know that an antidote cannot be developed so quickly."

Lin Yanzhi fell silent instantly.

After a long while, his eyes lit up as if he had suddenly grasped a lifeline: "That's right! We can find more inhibitors and use them in combination for you. Maybe it can extend the time. Seven days after seven days, as long as we can keep going, we will eventually wait for the antidote to be developed."

Despite his deep fear of Duan Sheng, Lin Yanzhi knew he had to try for Zhou Mo's life. That evening, he lingered outside Duan Sheng's door for a long time before finally mustering the courage to knock and ask if Duan Sheng could find him another inhibitor.

Before they could exchange more than a few words, his eyes reddened, and he took the initiative to move closer to Duan Sheng, offering himself up to him.

Duan Sheng looked at his proactive manner, casually playing with his fingers, his tone devoid of any emotion: "You like him that much?"

Lin Yan didn't know why he would ask her that, but she nodded with tears in her eyes. He was her boyfriend, of course he liked him.

"OK."

Duan Sheng agreed readily, much to Lin Yanzhi's surprise that it went so smoothly.
