Mingyue is always efficient and decisive. In just two days, all the wedding arrangements were completed. The cave was filled with bright red silk, and the stone table was decorated with mortal-style wedding candies.
The night before their wedding, Mingyue dragged Xu Jianzhou into fooling around until late at night.
Most of the time, once he was satisfied, he ignored Xu Jianzhou.
This time was no exception. Mingyue had played enough and didn't care about Xu Jianzhou's still burning desire. She quickly fell asleep on Xu Jianzhou's chest.
Xu Jianzhou was bound hand and foot and unable to move. He looked at Mingyue's still flushed sleeping face and thought to himself that monsters really have no conscience.
The next day, just as dawn broke, Xu Jianzhou was dragged to his feet by two demon servants and forcibly dressed in a bright red wedding robe. The silk fabric was of the finest quality, yet it made him feel extremely uncomfortable. Before he could even process what was happening, he was pushed and shoved outside, told that they were going to pay their respects to Heaven and Earth.
Mingyue was dressed in the phoenix coronet and wedding gown worn by mortal women. The bright red veil hung down, covering most of her face, revealing only a section of her fair neck.
Xu Jianzhou was being held down by two demon servants. They bowed to heaven and earth, then to their parents, and finally to each other. Just as they finished their bows, a commotion suddenly broke out outside, and a group of people dressed in white rushed in.
"Master!" Xu Jianzhou was extremely excited and struggled to step forward, but was held down firmly by the demon servant.
Elder Qingfeng, seeing that he was safe and sound, finally breathed a sigh of relief after months of worry. Then, his gaze turned cold as he looked at Mingyue: "You fox demon, not only do you devour the life essence of mortals, but you also kidnapped a disciple of my Celestial Master Sect and forced him into marriage! Today, I will act on behalf of Heaven and punish you, you monster!"
"Acting on behalf of Heaven?" Mingyue slowly lifted the red veil, the tenderness in her eyes turning into a chilling coldness. "You old geezer, how dare you ruin my happy day? Do you think the foxes of Qingqiu are easy to bully?"
Before she finished speaking, a dense demonic aura surged around Mingyue, and nine snow-white fox tails unfurled behind her. Meanwhile, the disciples brought by Elder Qingfeng also took out their magical artifacts.
In an instant, tensions rose between the humans and the demons, and soon a fierce battle broke out. The red silk in the cave was torn by sword energy, and wedding candies were scattered all over the ground. The festive atmosphere was instantly replaced by the smoke of gunpowder.
In the chaos, Xu Jianzhou suddenly caught a glimpse of someone in the crowd drawing a bow and nocking an arrow. The arrowhead gleamed with the golden light specially made by the Celestial Masters Sect for exorcising demons, and it was aimed directly at Mingyue's back.
His heart clenched, and without thinking, he blurted out "Watch out!" and stumbled forward.
"Pfft!"
The arrow pierced his flesh, and Xu Jianzhou felt a sharp pain in his chest. Warm blood instantly soaked through his bright red wedding robes. He looked down at the arrow embedded in his chest, and his vision blurred.
Mingyue abruptly stopped swinging her claws. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Xu Jianzhou's fallen figure. Her pupils contracted sharply, but were quickly replaced by a murderous aura. She twisted the wrist of the disciple beside her and continued the fight.
"Senior brother!" A disciple of the Celestial Masters Sect rushed over to support Xu Jianzhou, his voice filled with urgency and confusion, "Why did you take an arrow for that monster?"
Xu Jianzhou leaned against his junior brother's chest and suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, staining the other's white clothes red.
He opened his mouth, his throat filled with a metallic taste. Yes, why would he shield a monster from an arrow?
