Chapter 11 The Truth About the Murderer The murderer has been identified, good...
"Great, looks like we've got a lead on the killer. Iceberg Restaurant? Maybe... the Penguin. Hmm, I've got someone in mind... I bet you've got it too, right?"
Nightwing had a smile on his lips. Clearly, everyone else had also realized something, so their gazes all turned to Batman. But at that moment, Batman ignored Nightwing's words and looked at Enid, his words cold and serious, completely different from his Bruce self.
“Priest, I need an explanation.” He was referring to the people who were now unconscious. Enid paused for a moment, then shook her head. “Please call me a druid. They are unconscious and will wake up in about half an hour.”
Very well, after receiving an accurate answer, and after the group woke up as expected half an hour later, and after undergoing a rigorous mental examination to ensure that their condition was normal, Batman was relieved and returned to Wayne Manor. They were enjoying afternoon tea. It was clear that Tim was urgently dealing with the public opinion issues at this moment. He was having a meeting with Lucius in the study, and Bruce was about to join them. Before that, he could only see Enid's expectant eyes looking at him, and Alfred behind him with a smile on his face.
"Clearly, Miss Fia is just as much your daughter as you are, looking forward to the night shift, isn't she?"
"Hmm... Fia, your job is to stay at Wayne Manor and finalize the reconstruction plan for your forest. Once you've done that, send the plans to Tim and Alfred, and they'll take care of it."
Bruce clearly didn't want the new kid involved in this, even though she was the first victim. But because of this, she was very academic and inflexible, making her a very easy opponent for those practical enemies.
"It seems that Miss Fia will have to stay in the Bat Cave with this old man."
“Then I’ll have to trouble Grandpa Afu. But perhaps I can provide treatment,” she said, somewhat eager to try. “It’s not magic, it’s a potion. I brought some ready-made ones that can speed up wound healing. They have strawberry and grape flavors.”
After saying that, Enid pulled out a bunch of crystal bottles filled with pink and purple liquids from who-knows-where. Well, Bruce's first reaction was to take them to the Batcave for testing, but he still needed to deal with Wayne Enterprises' work, so this task could only be handed over to Alfred. Of course, Alfred obviously understood what Bruce meant and nodded to him silently.
"This sounds a bit like children's medicine?" Dick picked up a crystal bottle and shook it. "You don't seem to have shown this to me before."
“Hmm…it’s for adults, because the normal one tastes too awful, so I…improved it.” She seemed a little blushing, and her voice became unusually soft, but coincidentally, the people present had exceptionally good hearing, and then her voice suddenly returned to normal. “Because your injuries have been mostly healed by Aura, Dick, you just need to stay in the cabin for the rest. I’ve inscribed healing runes on your bed, which will continuously nourish your body, so you don’t need to drink this anymore.”
Dick's blue eyes met the emerald's, and he could see the clear light within it. A gentle smile appeared on his face, just as it had before. He remembered Enid walking towards him excitedly, carrying a piece of wood, and then pulling him along without a word. Dick followed her for a while before realizing it was a broken tree trunk.
"It's a tree that died of natural causes. We can use it to build a cabin so we can camp here next time. It's my first time camping! Okay, Dick!"
When she said those words, her expression was the same as it is now. Her eyes were bright, like polished jade, shimmering dazzlingly in the sunlight. He, just like now, reached out and touched her head. But it seemed different. Back then, she gave him a hug and then started bossing him around. But now, he couldn't hug her directly anymore—as an older brother.
Dick's palm was as warm and large as before, but the sudden change in situation and identity caught Enid off guard. She could only instinctively rub against it, then awkwardly turned her head and looked down at the exquisite pattern on the carpet.
Afu always knew exactly when to break the awkward silence. He smiled gently and said, "Then it seems I need to prepare another room for you to brew potions. Perhaps Miss Fia could explain to me what materials are needed? If so, could you..."
Before Afu could finish speaking, Enid raised a big smile and handed the crystal bottles to Afu. They were pink and purple. Afu paused for a very short half second, then smiled and took them. Then he saw Enid take out a large basket filled with crystal bottles of various colors.
“Grandpa Afu, it’s all for you! It’s full of my creations, and the crystal bottle says what its function is…” She paused abruptly, a little embarrassed, and touched her nose. “But I used Celtic language.”
"Don't worry, Miss Fia, I'm just a butler who happens to know a little Celtic."
"Amazing!"
“Miss Fia, you flatter me. Young Master Dick happens to know how to do it too, doesn’t he?”
Enid turned to Dick, who shrugged and said simply in Celtic, "I'd love to go camping with you once." His words, though softly barbed, touched her shoulder but inadvertently stirred her heart, causing an indescribable emotion to well up within her.
“We can invite Dad, Grandpa Alfred, Damian, Tim, Jason, Barbara, Stephanie, and Cassandra, and the whole family can go together!”
“If Father agrees, I don’t mind bringing them along, but let me state in advance that Bat-Bull, Ace, Titus, Alfred, and Anne will also be coming.”
Damian slightly raised his chin, raising his voice considerably to assert his presence. Hearing Damian's words, Enid pondered for a moment, then asked, "Then I need to bring Aura, Seid, Naya, Lyra, and Seren! So where is the location? When are we going?"
“Very good, I allow you to bring them.” Damian agreed readily. Whether the others agreed was unimportant, and he didn’t ask. Alfred quietly posted the conversation to the public channel and simultaneously posted it in both the channel and the living room: “Looks like Wayne Manor needs to add a new truck, doesn’t it?”
Jason was the first to see the news, even before Bruce. He knew, of course, that the old Batman had brought back a new daughter, a girl a little older than Tim who could also do magic. Wasn't that wonderful? So he was the first to decline this seemingly frivolous camping trip. Please, he didn't want to participate in this kind of family-friendly drama.
Red Hood: Well, I didn't agree to that.
After Jason replied to the message, he was about to close the communication when he suddenly received a message from Batman. He looked at it for a few seconds and then silently opened the message.
Batman: Red Hood
Red Hood: ?
Batman: I need your help, Red Hood.
No one knows what Jason replied in the end, but others know that in the division of responsibilities for everyone that Batman gave after Bruce's meeting, Red Hood was one of them.
Unfortunately, Bruce did not agree with Alfred's suggestion to buy a truck because he did not approve of Damian and Enid bringing their animal companions along. Well, he just didn't agree for the time being... However, he thought the camping could be done in the newly built forest section of Wayne Manor.
Of course, camping happened after the event was over.
P.S. Cassandra said she would fly over, and Jason didn't reply, but everyone, including Bruce, secretly sent him messages.
A note from the author:
----------------------
Alfred: Looks like the Wayne family needs a truck.
Why don't we just camp at Wayne Manor? (It would be more convenient if we included our animal companions.)
LOL! Actually, there was an option to decline the camping trip, but Mei Bao insisted it was a family trip! She eventually agreed. Dad, however, still thought that if he were to take them, it would be at Wayne Manor. But the birds disagreed, since camping on Wayne Island doesn't really count. So, they're still arguing about the camping location, but Afu is already quietly preparing to pre-order a truck! 233333
Bruce was a little worried that his house had really turned into a zoo, but it seemed like it was already a wildlife park.
There are also small theaters—
Regarding Enid's temporary codename, Stephanie actually suggested Zookeeper, which Tim agreed with, but in the end, Priestess was chosen instead.
However, after Mei Bao suggested calling her Druid, she quietly changed it to Druid. Some people commented that Stephanie seems to understand Mei Bao better (it's so funny).
P.S. The main purpose of drug testing is to assess its specific functions and effects. Meibao herself doesn't know the exact treatment effects, so this is to facilitate future use.
