Chapter 84 The Miracle Pact: Together with Lovers, Running...
The moon and her eyes are still awake.
The night in Broodhaven was unusually quiet. When Dick climbed through the window into his apartment, he saw Enid leaning against the other window with a gentle gaze. She held a small candy in her open palm, the kind Bruce often used to coax children.
"It's a pity I'm not a child anymore." Dick smiled as he took the candy from Enid's hand, but subconsciously unwrapped it and put it in his mouth. It was apple flavored.
"I read on a forum that love makes men childish, so I thought I'd use that to coax my amazing boy."
Enid's smile and tone were like they had been soaked in honey, making Dick unconsciously feel as if the sugar in his mouth had been released several times more saccharin. He was bewitched, so he reached out and hugged her, burying his head in the crook of her neck, his nostrils filled with the pleasant citrus scent of her body.
"This is very effective, so will the Wonder Boy be able to have it again next time?"
“Of course,” Enid reached out and touched his hair, “he will always have it.”
Dick had to admit he was comforted. In the sweet scent of citrus and the overly soft embrace, he couldn't help but hold on tighter. The smoke, the frost, and the dust were all wiped away at this moment. He could temporarily stop thinking about the broken glass and everything else, just for a moment.
She sensed his exhaustion. Beneath his seemingly energetic exterior, the weariness he had suppressed was now slightly revealed. Enid didn't know how to soothe it, so she gave him a hug and a kiss, turning her head to kiss his hair.
The kiss that landed on my hair was both light and heavy.
Dick couldn't resist pulling Enid to sit on the sofa. She could sit up and cup his face in her hands, while he could wrap his arms around her waist. Meeting those eyes as pure as Saint Lin's, he probably saw a spirit leaping through the valley like a drifting stream.
“I’ve come to claim my gift, so, my Mr. Grayson, have you prepared a gift for the druid?”
"I'm ready. May I ask if Mr. Nightwing's kiss is acceptable as a gift?"
Enid felt as if she had been burned while holding Dick's hand, but she couldn't pull it back. Instead, she lowered her head and gently touched his lips. Then, his overly aggressive kiss stole her breath. In the midst of their intertwined sweet kisses, she lost all her strength and fell into his arms. She was released just before she almost suffocated.
"Mr. Nightwing, you're so stingy. Is it too much to only give a kiss as a gift?"
Having lost her strength, Enid didn't sit up again, but instead sat directly on Dick's lap. He pulled her into his arms without hesitation, and Enid, too lazy to resist, snuggled closer to him.
"Just kidding, this is what I actually prepared."
As he spoke, Dick produced a beautiful necklace from who-knows-where. It was a rotating Earth with a ring around its rim. If you looked closely, you could see the English characters for Nightwing engraved around the silver ring, along with tiny symbols mixed in. And the small sphere that resembled the Earth, as it rotated, seemed to reveal her profile.
The moonlight shone on the silver necklace, making it sparkle dazzlingly. She could only raise her head to meet his eyes, offering her delicate neck as Dick reached out to put the necklace on her.
"If it had a name, it would be Enid, who can never leave Dick, right?"
No, it's that I love you.
It felt a little warm, softening her heart and making her speechless. She could only see Dick's gentle, smiling face reflected in her eyes. Fortunately, she quickly recovered and reached out to touch his face.
“I like this gift,” Enid paused for a moment. “Actually, I originally brought you something else, but now it seems… you need a good night’s sleep more, don’t you?”
She wanted to take him to see the meteor shower in Saint-Lin, which was the reason she rushed over tonight. After all, she had just finished her exams in the afternoon, and she had a million reasons to share this rare meteor shower with Dick. However, seeing his fatigue, she couldn't bear to interrupt his rest.
"Is it a meteor shower?" Dick knew that during the two weeks he was still unconscious in the Sacred Forest, he had heard Enid talk about the legend of the meteor shower there. "I'm not sleepy yet. You just fully charged my battery. It's an honor to watch the meteor shower with you, and I think God would be willing to let me stay for one night, right?"
The meteor shower in the sacred forest only occurs once every 160 years. It has nothing to do with any natural phenomenon or science; it is simply a beautiful miracle, a spark of light after a magical blessing, an eternal gift to lovers.
“In the cabin, your room has always been reserved for you…” Enid blushed slightly. “Now that we can film this, I want to take some pictures and bring them to show everyone!”
It was already a great favor that Dick was allowed to freely enter and leave the sacred forest. Enid did not want to disturb the Mother Goddess for anything else, so she could not bring other family members to see it. However, she wanted to share in this miracle, and this was the only way she could do it. She was a little embarrassed to tell Dick the reason.
“It’s alright, Fia, Bruce and the others won’t mind. You should know that more important than the miracle of a meteor shower is the willingness to share in the miracle.”
Hearing Dick's confident answer, Enid realized that she had fallen into an unnecessary rut again. Once she understood, she nuzzled against Dick's soft yet strong chest, hugged his powerful waist, and felt a little embarrassed, because Enid remembered another meaning of the legend.
"Actually... a meteor shower is more accurately described as a blessing from the Mother Goddess to engaged couples. Only lovers who have received the Mother Goddess's blessing are qualified to enter the hall of marriage."
After saying that, Enid suddenly had a strange feeling that she seemed to really want to marry him. Enid immediately sat up and pretended that she hadn't said anything.
"Alright, let's get going!"
Enid jumped down immediately. Dick suppressed a laugh and didn't expose her clumsy outfit. Instead, he obediently got up and changed. He remembered there was a casual blue suit in his closet, and he subconsciously put it on. Okay, he admitted, he was still influenced by Enid's words earlier. But this outfit was actually...
"Hey...Dick, you're handsome."
"After all, it is the vision of our great Druid Prince."
That's right, Enid chose the clothes and secretly slipped them into Dick's closet, thinking he didn't know. In fact, Dick knew perfectly well that now was the perfect time to wear them. He even prepared matching cologne, making it quite formal and more suitable for Enid's current attire.
Clearly, Enid herself didn't realize that she had chosen a relatively formal little dress style when she came over. The delicate embroidery and patterns made it seem like this wasn't a style for an ordinary occasion. Just as she herself didn't realize that she was particularly concerned about this unexpected date.
Enid looked at the exceptionally handsome Dick and instinctively reached out her hand, only to have it firmly grasped by him.
The next second, the two of them were in the St. Forest from Brudhaven's apartment.
The meteor shower hadn't started yet, but Aura was already waiting for them where they landed. Aura lowered her head and waited for the two of them to sit on her back. Dick had already understood Aura's meaning. The next second, he got on the unicorn's back and then reached out to pull Enid up as well.
The unicorn traversed flat grasslands and forests glowing with the faint light of fireflies, landing before a tranquil lake. The lake was an overly clear mirror, kissed by clouds in the indigo moonlight. Then, in the next second, countless lights chased after it, rushing down in a frenzy.
Silver light shimmered in the velvety darkness, the moon yielded to them, and the clouds were driven away. It was the bursting fireworks embracing the newly blossoming hope, the sound of new buds after the spring snow melted, the gentle tears of God, and them sitting on the unicorn. At this moment, Enid was leaning against him.
Amidst the starlight and gentle warmth, she raised her head, met his eyes that were like the moon, and kissed his lips.

Author's note: It's alright, it's alright. Sleeping in the Sacred Forest is very effective. A nap in the Sacred Forest is two to three times more effective than sleeping outside!
