Chapter 250 A Sweet Burden

As dawn broke, Xiao Yunying carried a food box, while her two sisters-in-law carried the used bowls and plates back to her kitchen through the back door.

Xiao Yunying rolled the dough into a rectangle, put it into a large flat iron pan, and taught her two sisters-in-law how to make egg pancakes that could puff up inside.

Beat the eggs, poke a hole in the puffed-up part of the crepe, pour in the egg mixture, and flip it over after a while.

Xiao Yunying put down the bowl and chopsticks she was using to beat the eggs: "That's fine. It's very simple. You can eat it once it's cooked. During the busy farming season, you can make this to send to Dad and my brothers. It's filling and convenient. It tastes good no matter what vegetables you roll inside."

She asked her two sisters-in-law to make pancakes as a practice, while she stir-fried bean sprouts and cabbage and put them in a food box.

Wang said, "Yunying, don't bother. We can cook for ourselves when we get back. How can we keep eating your food?"

"It's just a small thing, otherwise my sister-in-law would have to cook something else when she gets back."

Xiao Yunying's pancakes were quite large, each containing an egg, making them quite substantial. Her two sisters-in-law didn't make more, just enough for the number of children.

Xiao Yunying didn't make the spicy soup for the children; instead, she cooked a thick red date and snow fungus porridge and had her sisters-in-law take a pot of it back with them.

After seeing her two sisters-in-law to the door, Xiao Yunying said, "Eldest sister-in-law and second sister-in-law, I won't see you off any further. Please watch your step."

Zhang said, "No need to see me off, it's only a few steps away. Go back quickly, and I'll bring the food box and casserole back to you in a little while."

"No rush. I told Mother yesterday that I'll have my older brother come to my house today to get the silver frost charcoal. We can bring it all together."

"Why are you coming to my house to take charcoal?"

"There's no stock in the city right now, so let's not talk about that. Sister-in-law, you should go back now. It's cold, and the food will get cold."

After seeing her two sisters-in-law off, Xiao Yunying went to the living room, put a few pieces of charcoal into the stove, and returned to her room.

Luo Xin was sleeping soundly. She took off her cotton coat, wanting to go back to bed for a nap.

Luo Xin turned over, opened her eyes and looked at her: "Mother."

Did I wake you up?

"No, it's just that Xin'er wanted to pee."

Luo Xin learned the word "shh" from her. Xiao Yunying thought it was so cute for the little girl to say the word in reduplication with her eyes half-closed. She put on her cotton coat, which she had only taken off halfway, touched her hair that was messed up from sleeping, and took the cotton coat from the bedside: "Get up, let Mom dress you."

It was warm inside, but cold outside. Xiao Yunying was worried that the little girl would catch a chill from the cold wind, so she took a small woolen hat from the supermarket and put it on her, wrapping her up tightly.

I accompanied Luo Xin to the bathroom. The little girl said she didn't want to sleep anymore and wanted to wash her face.

Xiao Yunying then prepared hot water for her to wash up.

I tied her hair into two little buns: "After you've washed up, go back inside. Don't play in the yard. It's too cold in the morning, you'll catch a cold, okay?"

Luo Xin washed her face with her little hands and said, "I know, Mother."

"I've put the face cream here for you."

Children's faces are delicate, and if they don't apply face cream in winter, the cold wind will cause them to chapped.

Xiao Yunying returned to the kitchen. It was already broad daylight, so instead of going back to her room to lie down, she decided to cook for the children.

The large frying pan can cook four pancakes at a time, and she stir-fried vegetables while waiting for the pancakes to cook.

After washing up, Luo Xin applied the face cream Xiao Yunying had given her to her face and hands, put on her hat, and went to the kitchen.

"Mom, smell me and see if I smell good."

Xiao Yunying ladled out the dishes, then sniffed them deeply against the little girl's soft little face: "So fragrant."

She used a baby-specific face wash on Luo Xin, which had a light milky scent and smelled very nice.

The children in the family are all quite diligent; except for Luo Li, none of them sleep in late.

No, it should be said that Luo Li couldn't sleep because her two older brothers woke her up.

We went to the kitchen together to get hot water to wash up. When we came back, without saying much, I took my own bowl and chopsticks and prepared to eat.

Xiao Yunying added some hot water and washed Luo Xin's hands again: "I forgot to tell you, you should use your hands to eat this morning, and then apply face cream after you finish eating."

"OK."

She had already eaten, and after serving the children porridge, she sat down to roll up a pancake for the little girl.

He gave her a miniature version of the wrap he had made according to Luo Xin's appetite and said, "I'll be back early today. Is there anything you want to eat? I'll buy it for you."

Luo Li took a bite of the rolled pancake: "Nothing sold outside tastes as good as what Mom makes."

"Then I'll buy some meat and cook you a big dinner."

Luo Li was delighted: "That's great!"

Not long after, the Xiao brothers, Xiao Yunsong and Xiao Yunbai, arrived with an oxcart. Xiao Yunying's gate was not locked, so they pushed it open and came in, calling out in the courtyard, "Little sister, Mother sent me to haul charcoal."

Her house had a wide enough gate, so Xiao Yunying said, "Just bring the oxcart in."

After putting away the food box and casserole that his eldest brother had brought back, he had his two older brothers fill the oxcart with silver frost charcoal and gather the rest in a corner: "Now we have a place to put the new charcoal."

Xiao Yunsong took out a five-tael silver ingot from his pocket: "Sister, this is the money for the charcoal that Mother asked me to bring you."

Xiao Yunying immediately frowned: "Mother, what's wrong with you? You're giving me silver for a piece of charcoal? Are you not going to acknowledge me as your daughter anymore? Are you going to settle accounts with me?"

"Little sister, don't talk nonsense, Mother didn't mean that..."

Xiao Yunying gently pushed her two older brothers to walk out: "If you didn't mean it that way, then take it back. I already told Mother that it was a gift for her and Father. Why are you being so calculating about a little bit of charcoal?"

"Hey, little sister, don't push me! Don't be angry, I'll take the money back."

"Take it back quickly, brother. Go back and tell Mom to come back to my house to get more charcoal when she's done using it. I get a discount if I buy a lot at once. If you bring up money again, I'll really get angry."

Why is it that when other people transmigrate, they encounter extremely eccentric relatives, but she encounters family members who don't want to take advantage of her in any way and always think of her best interests?

What a sweet burden! Trying to be good to my family is so exhausting.

Oh dear, isn't this a bit too mundane?

Little did she know that her family thought the same way. Xiao Yunying always bought them clothes and other necessities, leaving no one, young or old, out of it. The expenses were considerable, and they couldn't refuse to accept the money. They would even get angry if they were given money. For them, it was a sweet burden.

After seeing her two older brothers off, Xiao Yunying leaned against the gate and waited. She saw a carriage and an oxcart approaching her house in the distance; it must be Ling Qi bringing charcoal.

Only when she got closer could Xiao Yunying see Ling Qi's face clearly: "Good morning."

Ling Qi was already used to her strange way of greeting her, and replied, "Good morning, Miss Xiao. I've brought you some charcoal."

Xiao Yunying handed him the key: "Go by yourself."

The charcoal was delivered directly to the greenhouse and stacked in a corner at the back. There was a space inside that wasn't used for growing vegetables; it was specifically for storing the charcoal.

Ling Qi had opened the lock a few times before. He took the key and, with practiced ease, had several drivers move the silver frost charcoal to the woodshed. He then drove the oxcart to the entrance of the shed, opened the door, and carried the white charcoal inside.

While they were moving charcoal, Xiao Yunying heated up some hot and sour soup, and made pancakes and stir-fried vegetables for two people each.
