Chapter 489 I Don't Like It Here Anymore

Mu Lianrong couldn't believe what she had heard: "Yunyun, what nonsense are you talking about? Don't scare your mother."

Xiao Yunying's eyes were empty, and her voice was calm without a trace of emotion: "I'm not talking nonsense. I'm not your daughter. I don't know why I came into this world, or why I'm occupying your daughter's body."

She stared blankly out the door: "I'm going home. My parents are waiting for me to come back for the New Year."

"What...what did you say?"

Mu Lianrong was so stunned by the news that she stood there dumbfounded.

She recalled what had happened before, and it seemed that her daughter had indeed become intelligent and capable after she fell and got sick in Xishan.

Her personality has changed a lot, it's like... like she's become a completely different person.

She had never thought about ghosts and spirits before, only that her child had grown up and become more enlightened.

Some things are better left unsaid. Once you notice even the slightest hint of something amiss, all the inconsistencies in the situation will be magnified, making you compelled to be suspicious.

Xiao Yunying walked barefoot past her into the courtyard before Mu Lianrong chased after her: "Yunyun...child, what you just said, is it true or false? Are you delirious from the fever? Don't go yet, explain this matter clearly first."

Xiao Yunying stumbled as Mu Lianrong pulled her, and stopped to say to her, "What I said is true. I am just a soul from another world occupying your daughter's body. The original Xiao Yunying died in early autumn last year."

Mu Lianrong suddenly felt a dull pain in her chest, so painful that she couldn't breathe: "I...I don't believe it...you're talking nonsense..."

"I'm sorry." Xiao Yunying lowered her eyelids, concealing the sadness in her eyes. "Although this wasn't my intention, I'm still... I'm sorry..."

After apologizing, she continued walking towards the gate.

Zheng Yunwan, who came out upon hearing the sound, saw Mu Lianrong falling backward. She rushed over to support her, but couldn't bear the weight and fell to the ground with her.

Xiao Yunying had already stepped out the door, and Zheng Yunwan supported Mu Lianrong with her own body, anxiously wondering what to do.

"Godmother... Sister Yunying, where are you going, Sister Yunying! Godmother, what's wrong?"

Xiao Yunying paused for a moment upon hearing the shout from behind her.

“She wasn’t calling me. I don’t belong here. I want to go home. My parents are waiting for me to come back for the New Year.”

She muttered to herself, as if stating the facts, or perhaps trying to persuade herself.

As they passed the sycamore tree, Zuo Lanzhi, who had just woken up, kept whimpering, trying to get her attention.

Zuo Lanzhi only realized something was wrong when Xiao Yunying walked past her without giving her a single glance.

Why did Xiao Yunying come out wearing only her undergarments and no shoes, walking barefoot on the ground?

Has this guy really gone mad from being hit by his own fist?

Will Luo Sheng really kill him?

As Zuo Lanzhi began to let her mind wander, Xiao Yunying had already walked quite a distance.

It was lunchtime, and there were few people on the road. Xiao Yunying walked all the way to the large well in the center of the village without anyone noticing her.

When Luo Sheng returned home from the city, he saw Zheng Yunwan struggling to help Mu Lianrong up. He helped her onto Zheng Yunwan's back and asked, "What happened?"

Zheng Yunwan didn't have time to explain: "Sister Yunying has gone out, you should go out and look for her quickly."

"Where did you go?"

"I went to brew the medicine. I don't know what Sister Yunying and Godmother said, but Godmother fainted, and Sister Yunying also walked out like she had lost her soul. She didn't even put on her clothes and shoes. Hurry up and go find her, don't dawdle."

Luo Sheng stopped asking questions, went outside and called out to the doctor who was still vomiting by the big tree.

"Let's go in and check on the person who fainted inside."

The doctor responded and looked up to find another person hanging beside him.

He was startled and quickly moved away from the area.

Who is this person? They don't care about my old bones at all. They just lifted me onto a horse and brought me here. The horse ran so fast that it almost shook my old bones to pieces.

After thinking about it, I realized I couldn't afford to offend that man, so I didn't dare to run away and obediently went into the courtyard to treat the patient.

After a moment's thought, Luo Sheng quickly headed towards the western mountains.

Sure enough, the familiar figure was spotted at the foot of the mountain.

He rushed to Xiao Yunying's side: "Yunying, where are you going?"

"I'm going home. My parents are waiting for me."

Luo Sheng's heart tightened when he saw her foot, which had been pierced, and he immediately picked her up.

"What are you doing? Put me down."

Xiao Yunying struggled a couple of times, which aggravated the injury on her buttocks, causing her to wince in pain.

"It hurts so much..."

"Don't move around," Luo Sheng coaxed her. "If you don't move around, it won't hurt."

"Put me down, I want to go to Xishan."

Luo Sheng didn't say anything, and carried Xiao Yunying straight home.

He placed Xiao Yunying on the kang (a heated brick bed) in her room: "Don't move around, be careful not to aggravate your wound."

Xiao Yunying ignored him and tried to get off the ground and walk outside.

Luo Sheng dared not force her, fearing he would aggravate her injuries, and in his haste, he involuntarily raised his voice.

"Don't move! Can't you see your foot is bleeding?"

Xiao Yunying shuddered in fright, but she did stop moving around.

Luo Sheng saw a basin of water on the stool next to her, picked up a cloth, wet it, and used it to wipe the dust off her feet.

After wiping away the dirt and dust, I took out some medicine and applied it to the small wound on the sole of her foot.

He was so focused that he didn't realize Xiao Yunying was crying until he heard a soft sobbing sound coming from above.
