Chapter 16 Renting a House

After finishing their meal, the two of them hurried to catch the bus back to the village, but almost missed it.

By the time the two of them sat in the car, they were still panting.

After the two returned home, Jiang Ning began to describe to Old Man Jiang the scenes she saw in the city. Although there were not many people setting up stalls, there were indeed many people buying. She was confident that she could do this well.

The eldest brother beside him was terrified when he heard Jiang Ning's words. "Ning girl, isn't it too risky for you to do this? Your family is not so poor that they can't even afford to eat. There is no need for a girl like you to show up in public. I'm worried that something might happen to you."

Jiang Ning looked at his brother's worried expression and knew that he was sincerely doing this for his own good, so he said, "Brother, don't worry. As long as you are careful, nothing will happen. Besides, I am your sister who is so smart, I will definitely be fine."

The eldest brother wanted to persuade her again, but he was tongue-tied and didn't know what to say, so he quietly bumped his second brother's arm and signaled with his eyes to Jiang Weimin to stop Ning Yatou. After all, they grew up together and have the best relationship, and Jiang Ning is the one who listens to him the most.

However, Jiang Weimin happened to have the opposite idea from his eldest brother. Instead of stopping him, he supported him: "Ning girl, I support you. If you do well, you can bring me along."

Jiang Jianguo looked at Jiang Weimin and said, "Ning is making trouble, why are you making trouble too?"

"How is this nonsense? I think this route is feasible. Brother, you didn't go to the market with us last time. If you had gone, I think you would agree."

The older brother beside him stopped talking to him.

So when did Jiang Weimin's thinking begin to change? Probably after he and Jiang Ning went to the market together to sell wild boar meat.

He then realized that making money could be so easy. The income from just one day was more than the annual income of an adult laborer in a rural family. He also wanted to live such a life so that the living conditions of his family could be greatly improved.

Let him understand that there is more than one way to live, and he can also live another life.

So this family meeting ended with Jiang Ning successfully setting up a stall in the city.

"You are really brave. It will be troublesome if something goes wrong." The system couldn't help but pour cold water on Jiang Ning as he lay on the bed with a happy face.

"Don't I have you as my support? Can you bear to see me suffer? After all, I am your first client." Jiang Ning said with a flattering look on his face.

"Also, I remember that in the book, Jiang Mingzhu was also setting up a small stall to do business at this time, but she was selling small accessories like hairbands and buttons. The management at that time was not very strict. If it was strict, I would not dare to set up a stall. Although I was eager to go home, my life was more important."

The system carefully recalled the plot in the book and realized it was indeed the case, but it was better to be safe than sorry. "You'd better be cautious. After all, the plot in the book could change at any time."

It was rare to hear the system think about her, after all, most of the time the system was just nagging her. So Jiang Ning said, "I understand. Don't worry, you're still here."

The two chatted for a while before Jiang Ning went to see Zhou Gong with full confidence.

Soon Jiang Ning and Chen Yan went to the city to set up a stall, but they couldn't rent a suitable house, so they had to live in a hotel. The hotel room cost 25 cents a day, and two rooms cost 50 cents, which was a huge expense in the long run. So the two had been looking for a house for the past few days, but after looking at many houses, they couldn't find a suitable one. Either the location was too remote or the rent was too high.

That day, Jiang Ning and Chen Yan saw a rental information outside a courtyard house. The two looked at the information on the note and knocked on the door of the courtyard house.

"Who is it, so late at night?" asked a voice that revealed the vicissitudes of life.

Judging from the voice, it was a man, Jiang Ning thought to himself.

"Hello, we knocked on your door because we saw the rental information posted outside. We would like to ask if your house has been rented out?" Jiang Ning asked politely.

She heard footsteps coming closer.

Soon, the door was opened.

A middle-aged man who was probably in his late 50s opened the door.

"Hello, I'm sorry to disturb your rest so late..." Jiang Ning repeated the question he asked at the door.

"Oh, the room hasn't been rented out yet. Come in and sit down. Let's chat." The middle-aged man leaned to the side, indicating that they should come in quickly.

As soon as Jiang Ning walked into the yard, he found that the yard was well maintained by him. It was obvious that he was a romantic person.

As soon as they sat down, another woman who looked to be in her forties brought some brewed tea and placed it in front of them.

Jiang Ning briefly introduced himself and Chen Yan, saying that they were brother and sister, and now they came to the city with their brother to find work to support themselves, but because they didn't know anyone in the city, they still hadn't found a job, so the brother and sister planned to set up a stall to make a living.

The couple looked at Jiang Ning and Chen Yan's polite demeanor and nodded. The four of them chatted quite happily. So they rented two rooms to them. Seeing that they had just arrived in the city, they gave them a discount. The monthly rent for the two rooms was only ten yuan, which they could pay at the beginning of each month. They also said they could use the kitchen as they pleased.

It turned out that the couple were university professors. The husband's surname was Zhou, and his name was Zhou Peijiang. The wife's surname was Pei, and her name was Pei Wei. They had retired many years ago and, as they had no children and extra rooms at home, wanted to make some extra money, so they wanted to rent out the rooms.

However, the couple looked at many people who came to rent the house and felt that they were not interested. They originally did not plan to rent it out. If it were not for the fact that Jiang Ning and Chen Yan were well-spoken and of high quality, they would not have been willing to rent the house to them.

"Where do you two live now? When do you plan to move in?" After signing the contract, Pei Wei looked at the two people in front of her and asked.

"Aunt Pei, my brother and I are still staying in the hotel. Since we have already paid the room fee today, we will not move out today. We will move in tomorrow night. Is that convenient for you?"

Pei Wei nodded, indicating that it was no problem. She was always at home anyway, so they could move in whenever they wanted.

The two of them had been looking for a house for such a long time and now they finally found a suitable one, so they immediately said there was no problem.

Now the problem of renting a house has been solved, and all that’s left is to buy the tools for setting up the stall.
