Chapter 333 Two Brothers

Chapter 333 Two Brothers

After leaving the Shire, Gandalf and Levi came to the roadside castle together and found Aragorn who was resting there.

This guy seems to be quite idle recently, so...

"I need your help with something."

In this way, Aragorn was abducted by Gandalf first.

The two left the roadside fort and headed east, beginning to search for traces of something.

During this search, they learned a name from the rangers who wandered the wilderness on guard: Gollum.

"I've seen him before."

Gandalf fell into deep thought.

"I didn't expect that this little thing that I had ignored all this time was the key to the matter. I really underestimated him. I shouldn't have let him run around..."

A few months later, Gandalf visited Wayfort again.

"You mean to say that Bilbo got the ring from Gollum?"

"That's right." Levi cleared up Gandalf's doubts.

"I never heard Bilbo talk about it, and I always thought he had picked up the ring somewhere in the cave."

Li Wei pointed out something else: "In a sense, it can indeed be said that it was picked up."

"Okay, let's stop asking riddles between you and me."

Gandalf sighed.

"So Gollum also knows that the ring that looks like the One Ring is in the Shire. This matter must not be spread out, otherwise it will definitely attract a lot of attention."

"By then, Charles might..."

"Nothing will happen to the Shire."

Levi said as he looked at the daily report and took another sip of tea.

Looks quite calm.

"I promised you that this area has been under the surveillance of the rangers for decades. If necessary, we can mobilize a few legions to provide support at any time."

"There won't be any accidents. Even if the nine ring spirits come out together with tens of thousands of troops behind them, I won't let them go beyond the roadside fort."

“All evil ends here, and all evil ends here.”

"Okay, okay, I believe you."

Gandalf nodded repeatedly and agreed, "I can see how strong this place is. There are a lot of defenders in the east, south and north. If you want to cross these defense lines, the enemy must be able to fly..."

Li Wei waved his hand and said, "If it can fly, I will go and shoot it down myself."

"Okay, then I'm completely relieved."

After understanding the situation here, Gandalf did not waste a moment and got up and went back to the great wilderness in the east to find the ranger captain stationed there.

"Tell me, where did Gollum go?"

The captain replied, "In the south, he crossed the wilderness, walked into the brown land, and waded through the deadly swamp. We don't know where he went after that. That area is not within our surveillance range. Perhaps you can ask the rangers of Gondor."

Gandalf looked quite serious when he heard the news.

After passing the Death Swamp, there is Mordor.

Following this clue, Gandalf continued to ride south without stopping, all the way to the wilderness of Ithilien.

Then he met Boromir who was stationed in Osgiliath.

"Greetings, Boromir, son of Denethor. I wish to ask you some news."

Gandalf greeted the tall, handsome young man warmly, but Boromir's attitude seemed lukewarm.

Because his father wouldn't let him talk to wizards.

With a prejudice passed down from his father, Boromir responded in a flat tone: "Unfortunately, Mr. Wizard, I have never seen the Gollum you are talking about. It probably happened a long time ago."

"I and these skilled soldiers behind me have only recently arrived at the front. Perhaps you can go to Minas Tirith and ask those retired rangers and soldiers. They may have some information."

After politely entertaining Gandalf and saying these words, Boromir did not continue to chat with Gandalf or pay much attention to him, but just continued to busy himself with his own things.

well…

Gandalf shook his head.

Boromir, the child is still young after all, and there are many things in his heart that he cannot hide.

Including that vague sense of awkwardness and alienation.

It's obvious that she doesn't want to have more contact with him.

Even so, compared to the prime minister of Gondor, the boy's attitude was very good. At least he still maintained the most basic respect for his elders.

Gandalf left Osgiliath in disgrace and headed all the way to Minas Tirith.

"Are you the wise Gandalf the Grey Wanderer?"

Unexpectedly, as soon as I arrived in Baicheng, a young man came up to me.

"Faramir, my name is Faramir, and I greet you, Mr. Wizard."

Faramir introduced himself enthusiastically to Gandalf.

"You look like you have something to do. Is there anything I can do for you? Maybe I can do it for you?"

"Well...I do have some things to do."

Looking at the young man in front of him, who looked 90% similar to Boromir but gentler, Gandalf could not help but stroke his beard, his eyes full of admiration.

Faramir was clearly different from his brother.

He and Gandalf had almost endless things to say and questions to ask, and Gandalf did not spoil the fun at all. As long as Faramir asked, he would tell him everything he knew, trying his best to tell him all the doubts of the studious boy.

In return, Faramir also did a lot for Gandalf. He entertained Gandalf warmly and personally went to find soldiers or rangers who had retired from the front line many years ago to help collect information.

"Careful, gentle, kind and courageous."

The more old Gandalf looked at the child, the more he liked him.

That look was like a teacher looking at the best student in the class, full of care.

"I didn't expect that Denethor could have such a good-natured child. It's really not easy. We can't let him be led astray by his father."

After finding out all the information he wanted about Gollum in Gondor, Gandalf stayed for a while specifically to contact Faramir.

During this time, Faramir learned a lot. He cherished the time he could see Gandalf and tried his best to learn from his wisdom.

Until Denethor heard of it.

The prime minister, who was just thinking that his eldest son was really capable, looked back and felt as if the sky had fallen. How did his youngest son get involved with a wizard?

We can’t let this child be led astray by that gray-robed wizard.

"Stop talking to that old man. I don't want to see him."

"Yes, father."

Faramir agreed seriously.

But some things are destined to be unbannable.

Looking at Faramir who was still welcoming Gandalf, Denethor felt like he was punching cotton, very powerless.

What else can I do? That's it.

Denethor was quite unhappy.

Fortunately, Gandalf did not stay and perhaps realized that Faramir had been implicated by him, so he left on his own not long after.
