Chapter 182 Extra 6
Qin Tian picked up the coffee and smiled. This is such a lovely age.
The first time she attended class, she was so nervous she didn't dare look down, just focused on delivering the material without any interaction. Unexpectedly, the class went too fast. The material was already covered before the time was up.
She stood at the podium, sweat pouring down her back. At that moment, someone in the third row raised their hand. Without waiting for her to call on their name, the male student said, "Teacher, may I ask a question?"
Yes, ask questions. Qin Tian then realized that there was hope, and the next step could be to set up a question-and-answer session.
"sure."
"I have a friend who wants me to ask, do you have a boyfriend?"
A burst of good-natured, yet boisterous, laughter filled the classroom, and the tense atmosphere vanished. She felt a little shy, but mostly relieved.
"not yet."
Instantly, the booing in the classroom intensified. The boy who had asked the question laughed heartily and turned his head to say something to the person next to him. The person was slumped over the table, his face buried in his arms.
"Is there anything in this course that requires my help?" Qin Tian looked around the room for the first time.
The students then began to ask questions. Most of them focused on whether the identification methods used on television or in social media were more entertaining or truly reliable. They even wondered whether the legends and untold secrets in the Tomb Robbers' Chronicles had any basis in fact. Some even asked about the Chunjun Tomb. Qin Tian finally understood why her class had so many students enrolled.
The classroom atmosphere had become lively, but it had taken a turn for the more gossipy and entertaining. She answered their questions carefully, not wanting to offend anyone on a popular show. She found it difficult to handle the constant barrage of questions like these. She had just finished vaguely analyzing the credibility of live treasure appraisals on TV when a deep, clear voice rang out.
"Excuse me, what should a novice pay most attention to when using thermoluminescence scientific identification methods to identify cultural relics?"
She looked in the direction of the voice, but couldn't find who was asking the question. She breathed a sigh of relief, and a little heartened. This was where she was truly confident, and it was closely tied to the course itself.
"That's a good question." She looked up at the audience. "It's about the sampling location. Whether you're a novice or an experienced technician, the most important thing for thermoluminescence identification is always the sampling location. As we all know, the profits from counterfeiting cultural relics are extremely high. Although thermoluminescence data itself is infallible as a scientific identification method, if the sampling location is wrong, it is possible to identify a counterfeit as an authentic one. The principle of thermoluminescence sampling is not to damage the cultural relic itself, so samples are often taken from the inside of the bottom. In order to pass the inspection, counterfeiters will sever the entire inside bottom of the counterfeit and connect it with a bottom that matches the age of the counterfeit, thus turning the counterfeit into an authentic one. This is the most common method. Therefore, even for scientific identification, a certain level of visual recognition ability is required. The combination of the two is the only way to ensure the accuracy of thermoluminescence identification."
The lesson had finally concluded successfully. As the students left, she sorted through her lesson plans with a sense of relief, having survived a disaster. A spring breeze blew through the window, sending several pages flying. A tall figure passed by, bent down, picked up the paper from the ground, examined it, then stood up and handed it to her.
"Thank you, classmate!" Qin Tian took the paper and thanked him.
"You're welcome." The boy replied.
Qin Tian raised his head. The voice should be the one who asked the question just now.
"Mu Yanrui! Are you leaving?" A boy at the door shouted in this direction. He was the student who asked her if she had a boyfriend.
Mu Yanrui's eyes swept across her face, nodded to her, and left with the boy.
Later, Qin Tian scanned the student list but couldn't find the name. It seemed that Mu Yanrui's student wasn't a student majoring in cultural studies, but merely attending as an auditor. The question he asked was quite insightful.
After attending a few more classes, she finally felt less nervous. Mu Yanrui attended every class and always sat in the same seat. Two weeks ago, after class, he came over and asked if he could add her on WeChat. She picked up her phone and passed the verification. As she walked out of the teaching building, her phone rang.
"Senior, the lecture was very exciting. See you next week."
Qin Tian sighed for a moment. Students nowadays are so individualistic. They didn't call her teacher but senior sister, and even called her several years younger. It was as if she was back in her school days.
Was this cup of coffee given to her by Mu Yanrui? Or was the term "senior sister" just a trend? Did they all call her that in private? Regardless, they were students who hadn't graduated yet and didn't have the financial resources, so how could she spend their money? She asked slowly and clearly, then returned the money for the coffee. The strange thing was how he knew she liked low-calorie cappuccinos.
At the end of the lesson, she raised her coffee cup.
"Thank you for the coffee, it's delicious. Whoever sent it, please come to me later to claim it."
The students left the classroom one after another, and no one came to claim them. By the time she finished organizing her lesson plan, there were few people left in the classroom. Mu Yanrui stood up slowly and walked towards the classroom door, but his eyes turned to the podium. The moment his eyes met hers, he smiled brightly and turned away.
In the evening, she and Tong Zhongyuan took a walk after dinner when Mu Yanrui sent her a message.
"Senior, are all the reservations for the new museum for this month full?"
The Shanghai Museum built a new building this year. Qin Tian is currently struggling with the idea of moving most of her staff to the new location. She originally bought her house in this old neighborhood solely for its proximity to the museum, within walking distance. With the move, her commute has lengthened.
Tong Zhongyuan felt the timing couldn't be better. Qin Tian's current apartment was too small, and the one he rented wasn't particularly comfortable. It was a good opportunity to plan his move to Xinguan. He was leaning towards buying two more apartments in a new development across the street from Xinguan. Xinguan was in Pudong, where there were many villas, offering a wider range of options.
It's just that he has only been here for two weeks. If he rashly tells her about buying a house, he's afraid it will scare her again, which would be counterproductive.
"When are you going to the new museum? I'll coordinate it." Qin Tian replied.
As soon as she finished sending the message, Mu Yanrui replied almost immediately: "Do you usually go to the new museum?"
"It depends on the situation. I will go if something happens."
"Call me someday and take me in."
Qin Tian was stunned. It wasn't that he couldn't bring him in. But she couldn't tell when she would go to the new museum. If she informed him at the last minute, would he rush over?
Tong Zhongyuan saw that her phone was constantly sending messages and asked casually, "Is there something wrong?"
"A student said he couldn't make an appointment at the new museum and asked me if I could take him in."
"You can take his ID number and register it. He can go any day."
Qin Tian thought it made sense, so he sent it. But Mu Yanrui didn't send his ID number. Qin Tian and Tong Zhongyuan returned home. Qin Tian put his phone on the table and went to wash his hands. The phone screen lit up.
"Thank you, Senior. It's no trouble. I'll make an appointment when the next batch opens."
Tong Zhongyuan glanced and asked Qin Tian.
"Aren't you a student? Why does he call you Senior?"
Qin Tian said indifferently: "Kids nowadays are so sweet. Just call me young senior sister."
Tong Zhongyuan grabbed her hand and dragged her down.
"You like it when others call you Senior Sister, but why don't you agree when I call you?"
Qin Tian asked curiously, "Have you ever called me senior? How come I didn't know?"
Tong Zhongyuan pressed her on his legs, close to him, his eyes darkening.
"I called you my good sister last night but you ignored me."
Qin Tian's face flushed crimson, and she shook off his hand and tried to stand. But he was prepared, holding her tightly. His lips nibbled softly along her slender neck, his voice low and seductive.
"Good sister, brother misses you again..."
His voice, his hand, his half-lidded eyes, his sensual scent, the place where they met, the tide of passion surged over her like a flood. She had no resistance, not even a shred. She let him climb onto her body, gasping helplessly and tossing in the mud, chirping like a bird or a swallow, "Good brother," through endless twists and turns, through life and death.
