Chapter 35 Identity? He's a vigilante.
After Allen finished explaining everything, the room fell silent.
Harry was shocked that his brother had planned everything all along and left himself no way out; Dick was shocked to discover that his boyfriend had a second and third side in addition to the unknown one, making him as unpredictable as an onion.
If Allen suddenly told him now that he was an FBI member or a CIA agent, Dick felt he wouldn't be surprised.
He would calmly kiss Alan and then say, "Baby, you're amazing."
See, that's the magic of love. Love makes you gradually understand a person, accept them, eventually embrace everything about them, and become deeply fascinated by every aspect of them.
He's already willing to work with Allen to collect the bones of all alien creatures!
The strangely shaped 'alien creature' on the screen was still wriggling slightly, as if it were breathing just like a human. Dick asked with genuine doubt, "Don't you think it really looks like something from Earth?"
Allen replied, "I've thought about that too. I suspect that this creature's instinct is to imitate, which is why he was able to create a copy of Matthew. But he's recently realized something's wrong and has become somewhat wary of me. I'm going to find Lex Luthor."
The two sentences seemed completely unrelated, yet Dick instantly grasped Alan's meaning. Alan had been feigning cooperation with the monster in his mind, the monster trying to entice him to cooperate, but Alan managed to extract information that the people behind it all were Lex Luthor and the Illuminati. Alan was probably planning to approach Luthor under the guise of cooperation, trying to figure out what they really wanted.
Furthermore, they also need to capture spies hidden within the Justice League and the Avengers, so they can likely obtain more information from Luthor.
Dick frowned, his face full of worry: "That's too dangerous, especially given your current condition..."
He was worried that Allen might be forced to merge with the monster by accident. In his opinion, since he already knew that the monster needed to use Allen, it would be better not to agree in the first place.
But... what about Allen's illness?
Allen took a vial of medicine out of the refrigerated test chamber: "It can hold for a while longer."
After saying that, he injected himself with an injection, and then took out another syringe and handed it to Dick.
Dick took the pale reddish-brown vial, somewhat puzzled: "Why is it different from the one I just had?" Allen had just injected himself with a pale yellow vial, but the one he was given was clearly different.
Allen nodded. “This is a drug that can kill me directly. The drug I just injected will allow me to live a normal life for a while, but as soon as I inject this—” He pointed to the syringe in Dick’s hand, “the one I just injected will be completely ineffective. My internal organs will fail within seconds, my consciousness will dissipate, and my body will be dissected to ensure that no one can control or use me.”
Harry's eyes widened in panic. He jumped up from his chair and tried to grab the death potion—he wanted to flush it down the drain or smash it. He couldn't understand why his brother was researching this stuff and giving such a dangerous thing to Dick!
Isn't this tantamount to handing your life over to that damned Grayson?!
That won't do!
However, Alan stopped Harry: "I know you can't do it."
Harry was speechless for a moment.
Then he realized: "Are you preparing to die again? I really don't understand why you don't want to live?"
Dick held the potion in his hand, his face serious. "Tell me the ingredients. I'll go find Batman. He'll figure something out."
Allen clicked his tongue. "I never place my hopes on others. Do you know what would happen if I merged with this monster? Even I'm not sure. If you use your brain for a second—a species that can alter human genes and is practically immortal on this earth, I don't believe Batman alone can handle him. Besides… I can't even be sure who in the Justice League has been replaced. With the clone possessing all the original owner's memories and behavioral patterns, can you really tell that the Batman you're asking for help is the real Batman?"
Harry immediately retorted, "How can you be sure this bastard is the real Richard Grayson? What if he's an imposter too? What if I'm an imposter too?"
Allen said somewhat irritably, "I know you're serious, don't ask me why. Just listen to me, do as I say! And this is just a last resort, just in case!"
Dick clutched the potion, thinking, "That little rascal Allen still hasn't explained everything clearly! He must be hiding something!"
**
As night fell, the cool air of Brudhaven swept over Dick's bodysuit.
His expression was serious as he mentally weighed what had been going on with the Bat family lately, and who he could trust. Unfortunately, his investigation, based on suspicion, ultimately resulted in him finding everyone a little off—
Batman has been staying in Broodhaven for the past two days, not returning to Gotham, but his investigation seems to be making no progress. He knows far less information than Allen, which is very unlike Batman. Of course, he suspects that Bruce has already found out something but hasn't told him.
Jason is still investigating the drugs that leaked from the Squid gang members in Gotham, but it seems there's been no progress; Red Robin is busy with something, and even Oracle has been...
Suddenly, a conspicuous traffic light appeared in front of him.
Robin, knife in hand, blocked his path and greeted him, "Grayson, long time no see."
Dick: ...
In a situation like this, it's better not to.
However, the older brother patiently stopped on the rooftop, landed with a light flip, and smiled at his younger brother: "Long time no see, Robin."
Robin's next words gave Dick a headache, because he heard his brother ask in a 'friendly' manner, "I heard you have a rather dangerous boyfriend? There are several of his documents on the Bat computer."
Dick: ...
Bruce wouldn't be surprised if he created 100 tables for Allen, because he himself felt that Allen's hidden secrets were enough to fill a hard drive.
Damian continued, "Are you going to find him now? Or interrogate him? I hope it's the latter. Take me with you."
Dick: "...I don't have a penchant for interrogating my boyfriend."
“Now you can have it.” Damian scoffed. “Take me with you, and I’ll make him spill all his dirty little secrets. You’re not really stupid enough to be blinded by him, are you? If so, I suggest you retire.”
Dick couldn't help but cover his throbbing forehead. He now felt an unprecedented sense of crisis—letting Damian meet Allen was definitely not a good thing.
But he had already made an appointment with Allen today. Allen, who had finished his review, should already be waiting for him on the rooftop of Brudhaven Hospital, and he would take Allen to his secret base, where he would tell Allen his true identity, and then they would face everything together.
Now Robin has appeared.
Judging by his Cali stick, it's obvious this kid must have sneaked out of Gotham again behind Batman's back. I wonder how Tim is doing...
Damian took two steps forward, then turned to look at Nightwing: "Aren't you coming?"
After saying that, he jumped out, giving Dick no chance to refuse.
Nightwing: ...
Please, Allen, have mercy on the kids before he gets here! I know you took a bunch of dangerous stuff from the lab!
There was no way to show mercy. When Dick caught up with Damian and reached the hospital rooftop, Damian was rolling around inside a luminous sphere constructed from an ionosphere.
Allen stood to one side with his arms crossed, occasionally giving Damian a light kick, which would then force Damian to roll away with Ball while glaring at him murderously. Ball would bounce back after hitting the wall, then rage helplessly at Allen.
Allen was having a great time and showed no remorse for taking advantage of the situation and bullying a child.
Dick: ...
I thought you guys would go through the motions of exchanging a few trash words before actually fighting. I was only one building away from you, how come you finished so quickly?
Allen turned his head and saw the blue figure rushing towards him. Without thinking, he prepared to throw another Poké Ball, intending to catch the giant blue bird as well.
The doctor was still wearing a hospital gown under his coat. He had lost a lot of weight due to illness, but his imposing manner remained undiminished.
Winter was not yet over, and the night wind in Brudhaven ruffled the doctor's black trench coat. He saw a contemptuous smile curl at the corner of the doctor's mouth, and his calm and composed demeanor was just like the villainous big boss that Damian had described.
After getting a clear look at Nightwing, Allen curled his lip, tossing a small ball in his hand: "How interesting, another one. For Dick's sake, I suggest you get lost."
Without hesitation, Dick ripped off his mask: "Darling, it's me!"
The Poké Ball in Allen's hand fell to the ground instantly and rolled away.
He turned to look at the traffic light trapped in the Poké Ball on the other side, then at Dick. Alan's eyes widened when he finally confirmed that the face hidden beneath the mysterious domino mask was indeed his boyfriend.
Dick nervously clutched the Domino mask, thinking, "How cute! Alan's wide-eyed look is like a startled cat."
Allen: "...Dick?!"
Dick, feeling guilty under his boyfriend's gaze, quickly explained, "It really is me! This is the little secret I wanted to tell you!"
He spoke rapidly, telling Allen that Nightwing was actually him, and he was Nightwing. They had worked together many times before and had been dating for so long that it was time to be honest with each other.
Allen's face was blank. He looked Dick up and down like a robot, his gaze slowly moving down until he fixed on a certain spot, clinging to his last hope: "Turn around and let me see your ass."
Damian jumped around angrily inside the Poké Ball, yelling, "Grayson, release me now!"
Unfortunately, Robin underestimated his opponent at the beginning of the day and did not expect Allen to attack without warning. Now he has no chance to show his strength.
Dick watched the Robin Bird bouncing around like a bouncy ball and thought to himself that Allen's way of dealing with enemies was really creative. He wondered if he had come up with such a cute catch ball because he had watched too many Pokémon games.
Allen is so cute when he's secretly watching Pokémon!
He looked at Allen helplessly: "You've had a suspicion all along, haven't you? Why won't you believe it?"
Allen stared at Dick for half a minute with a blank expression, then threw two large Bluebird catch balls at Dick.
