Chapter 34 Secret? Trust.

Chapter 34 Secret? Trust.

The torrential rain was washing away the rusted nameplate of Warehouse No. 13 in the port. Allen directed Harry to park the car in a fixed spot.

As soon as the car came to a stop, a feeling of weightlessness immediately came over them. Dick and Harry looked curiously out the window at the scene outside—in the deep metal tunnel, the sound of chains meshing could be heard, and they were descending with the car.

"A secret base?" Harry turned to look at his brother.

Allen sat in the back seat, typing away at his computer, and casually hummed in response without even looking up.

Soon, the descending platform came to a stop, the metal hatch carrying the vehicle opened, and the high-tech laboratory was immediately exposed to the three of them.

Dick couldn't help but whistle, then exclaimed in admiration at the dense array of buttons and various experimental instruments on the control panel.

Harry didn't seem surprised at all; he was just curious about who had built the lab for his brother.

He knew that Allen had a whole bunch of weird and wonderful friends, both good and bad, and none of them were simple. When he was studying abroad, he got into some trouble, and a mercenary with a lot of slang appeared and helped him settle things. Later, he found out that the man was the cousin of another mercenary friend of his brother.

“These are robots I got from Osborn Labs and Luther, with some Kryptonian technology.” Allen pointed to the metal pod in the corner. “You know I hate humans.”

"I'm just curious, hasn't anyone ever discovered this place before?"

Dick was a bit conflicted. As a vigilante in Brudhaven, he was unaware that such a large secret base was hidden on his territory, and it was clearly something that Allen had started building after he entered Brudhaven.

Allen has already built the base to the bottom of the river near the port. Based on his observation, there are definitely more than just these few rooms; the passage on the other side probably connects to the ocean floor. Several of the robots' hibernation pods are empty, indicating that hardworking mechanical laborers are still working tirelessly.

What's the difference between his slowness and Bruce's ignorance of the fact that Lazarus' Pool lies beneath Gotham?

Oh... Bruce didn't know Gotham had the Court of Owls. Anyway, let's not judge each other; these days, villains are all incredibly overpowered.

Wait, Allen isn't a villain.

Dick thought for a moment and suddenly realized that if Allen had brought him to this secret base today, did it mean that he would be Allen's partner from now on?

so--

So what if his darling digs a base on his own turf? It's up to him to do whatever makes him happy.

Nightwing couldn't help but chuckle, then, taking advantage of his agility, he pounced over and gave Allen a kiss.

Harry reacted quickly and punched Dick.

Dick skillfully dodged, put his arm around Allen's waist, and laughed triumphantly.

If that Hawaiian doctor could see it, how could he not see it?

It seems that Allen has finally come to his senses today. Dick couldn't help but hug Allen tightly and whisper in his ear, "I love you, darling."

Unfortunately, with Harry around, his and Alan's sticky moments would never last more than five seconds.

Allen shoved Dick, who was feigning grievance, away with a look of disgust. He approached a display screen, pulled out a neural electrode from the hidden body, and pressed it tightly against his temple.

For a fleeting moment, a look of pain crossed his face, prompting Dick and Harry to approach him with concern.

However, Allen's expression quickly returned to calm, and the monitor next to him suddenly lit up.

A huge, writhing monster appeared on the screen.

That was a projection deep within Allen's consciousness. The monster was asleep, and Allen forcibly severed the connection between it and Allen.

The pale blue ionosphere hummed overhead as Allen adjusted various parameters.

Finally, he breathed a sigh of relief: "Okay, now we can talk without worry."

"What is that?" Dick asked gravely.

Allen explained, "Someone who claims to be an alien life form is currently residing in me... to be precise, it has always been in me."

Dick keenly sensed something was wrong: "So it's what caused your illness?"

Allen shook his head and denied it, saying, "Retrogenerated proliferative disorder is a hereditary disease in the Osborn family, and both Harry and I have it. But I injected Harry and myself with the second-generation drug before. Normally, we should be able to live peacefully until at least 40 years old before the symptoms start to appear. And I am very confident in myself. I don't think I can't develop a real cure during this time."

The first-generation drug he injected into old Norman was very crude. He made adjustments based on old Osborn's condition before finally determining the effectiveness and safety of the second-generation drug.

The third-generation potion was, of course, already under development, but he discovered that someone in Brudhaven was connected to the tattoo on his body, which is why he made the last-minute decision to come to Brudhaven.

Harry asked in surprise, "When did you give this to me... wait, it was the day I came back!"

Allen nodded. "Yes, to ensure you live and infuriate Norman. Any questions?"

Harry glared at his brother, holding his breath.

Dick stared at the 'alien creature' on the screen, only to find that it didn't match any of the creatures he knew of on record. He had never seen a species that looked like an oviparous, cold-blooded animal covered in vines and mycelium; it looked like a creature pieced together by a three-year-old's imagination.

"In other words, someone did something to trigger your illness," Dick said. "Do you have any leads?"

“I have some guesses, but I haven’t verified them yet.” Allen sat in his chair and pulled up an electrocardiogram. “Before Alex Pedro almost stabbed me to death, something unexpected happened because I noticed my heart rate increased slightly before his knife went into my stomach.”

Dick stared at the screen, once again admitting that his lover could be a bit of a weirdo at times. He couldn't understand who would monitor their heartbeat all day long... the monitor was obviously a device implanted under the skin. He thought only Batman had this hobby.

Okay, he has that too.

Dick began to think about how to persuade Allen to allow him to monitor Allen's physical condition at any time. Would Allen agree to let him check on him all the time?

I imagine a doctor with overly strong boundaries wouldn't agree to that—

Alan told Harry and Dick directly that the laboratory could monitor his condition at any time, and that he needed Harry and Dick to come and check on him frequently, and to take immediate action if they noticed any fluctuations in his heart rate.

Dr. Osborn nonchalantly handed over control of the secret base to Dick and Harry.

Dick was so moved that he wished he could transform into a pouncer and hug Dr. Osborn, whom he had entrusted with his trust, tightly and never let go.

But he still had a small question: "What action should we take?"

“Kill me now,” Allen said casually.

Dick & Harry: ...? ? !!!

Allen explained, "This alien idiot's goal is to merge with me. If my heart rate has problems, there's a high chance he's going to attack me. Although the possibility is small, I have to take precautions."

"He wants to take over your body?" Harry couldn't help but curse at the shadow on the screen.

Allen nodded.

This is the conclusion he drew from his conversations with monsters in his dreams.

The other party claims to want to integrate with and purify humanity, and their method is to create a genetic virus with Luthor and spread it throughout the world. Allen is currently unsure of their specific plans, but they confidently assert that this virus will completely eradicate humanity's inferior genes, transforming them into the most superior life forms in the universe.

Allen expressed complete disbelief.

Lex Luthor wouldn't agree to this. Even if the so-called gene-optimizing virus really existed, given Lex Luthor's nature, he would only use it on his own subordinates to maintain his advantage. After all, Luthor's idea is to kill Superman and become the ruler of human thought and society; he wouldn't agree to all of humanity's genes being optimized.

Luther is essentially a selfish guy; what he wants is absolute dominance.

The reason Luthor could so confidently release this alien must be because Luthor had already set a trap for him. Once he actually agreed to this alien fool's plan, Luthor might just eagerly come to claim the spoils, control him and the alien together, and turn them into weapons for his own use.

However, it remains to be seen who is exploiting whom.

Allen: "One thing I'm sure of is that this idiot couldn't communicate with me for some reason all these years, until I got injured. Most of what it says is true, such as that it has lived on Earth for many years and has the ability to rewrite genes. It knows everything about me and needs me."

This statement contained a lot of information, and Harry and Dick's expressions immediately became very serious.

“How did Norman Osborn manage that?” Harry muttered to himself. “He was the one who…”

Allen nodded: "My birth was his experiment. I don't know how he learned about the existence of this alien life form, but he used some means to bring the alien creature to the lab. It turns out that the Parkers and Collins Connors are indeed quite capable; they cracked some of the secrets belonging to this creature."

"And then there are some clueless magicians who, at Norman's hefty invitation, used magical powers," Allen shrugged. "The combination of magic and technology can produce incredible effects."

Harry gritted his teeth as he glared at the nonchalant Allen: "And you knew all this all along, yet you didn't tell me a thing! Are you planning to take these secrets to your grave?"

“What’s wrong with that?” Allen said. “Norman’s experiment failed. He created me, but he couldn’t use those powers to restore his body to normal. Of course, I won’t give him that chance.”

Dick stepped forward and pulled Allen aside: "This is important. I think we need to notify the Justice League. I think maybe Batman can help."

However, Allen refused.

“Both the Justice League and the Avengers have problems.” Allen continued calmly, saying something that sent chills down Dick’s spine. “My connection with this monster is becoming increasingly strong. I can sense that there are many of its ‘citizens’ around us.”

Dick instantly thought of the "Squid" couple, the Alex Pedro family, the vanished Black Gang, and the strange potion that seemed impossible to trace. Grace and her daughter had also disappeared after leaving the hospital; he had searched for a long time but could not find their whereabouts, as if they had suddenly evaporated from Brudhaven.

However, Matthew seemed unconcerned and told Bruder Haven Police Department that everything was normal. Matthew also said that Grace and her daughter had applied for the FBI's witness protection program and were starting a new life abroad, a fact confirmed by Hannibal Lecter, Allen's friend who works as an FBI consultant.

Dick looked at Allen: "Matthew, he..."

Allen nodded without surprise: "He was replaced."

The word "replace" was used very subtly, but it made Dick and Harry even more uneasy. Because in all their time together, they had barely been able to tell Matthew was different; this person who had replaced Matthew possessed all of Matthew's memories and habits, and even Harry and Fergie hadn't noticed the slightest difference.

Dick took a deep breath and suddenly felt an urge to spank Allen.

"Tell me everything, what else? After you've finished, I'll tell you a little secret of mine, okay?"

He said viciously.
