Let's end here for Chapter 92.

Engine starts.

Inside the car, there was a deathly silence.

Shangqiu Zhu maneuvered the vehicle into the nighttime traffic, the veins on the back of his hand resting on the black steering wheel slightly visible.

Yan Shuang leaned stiffly against the passenger seat, not daring to move, and even her breathing was extremely shallow.

The neon lights and streetlights outside the car window flashed by, and finally the car entered the villa's garage, where the engine was turned off.

That suffocating silence was magnified to its extreme.

Shangqiu Zhu got out of the car first, without opening the door for her as usual, or even looking back, and went straight into the house.

Yan Shuang hesitated for a moment, then unbuckled her seatbelt and followed.

As soon as they stepped into the living room, Shangqiu Zhu, who was walking in front, suddenly stopped and turned around.

The movement was so fast that Yan Shuang subconsciously took a half step back.

"Why are you hiding?" Shangqiu Zhu's voice was calm. "Weren't you just standing very close to that person?"

He approached step by step, his tall figure casting a shadow that completely enveloped her.

"Tell me, who is he?" he asked very slowly.

Yan Shuang felt a chill run down her spine. When he finally asked, she almost couldn't wait to pour out the answer she had already rehearsed countless times in her mind.

"He's just a friend of mine. We met through a blind date arranged by our families, but we agreed that it would only be a formality, and we'd just help each other deal with our elders..."

Her voice trembled slightly with urgency, and grew softer as she spoke.

Because the expression on Shangqiu Zhu's face did not soften at all; on the contrary, it became even more terrifying.

"A blind date? In name only? Hiding from our parents?" Shangqiu Zhu repeated her words very slowly, "Yan Shuang, even now, you're still telling me this kind of lie that's so easy to expose."

He had reached his limit.

"Would a blind date, in a nominal capacity, be the first to rush onto the stage and bail you out when you report a problem? Would a collaborator who keeps secrets from you look at you with that kind of expression when the whole audience is jeering, tacitly accepting everyone's teasing? Would a friend hold you and kiss you in mid-air?!"

He practically screamed the last sentence.

The pent-up anger and jealousy erupted at this moment.

Yan Shuang was stunned for a moment before she recalled that kiss from that day.

But how did he know?

The momentary look of surprise on her face did not escape Shang Qiuzhu's fixed gaze.

In his interpretation, which was completely consumed by jealousy and anger, this expression was undoubtedly the most irrefutable admission.

"You're really something, Yan Shuang. Your methods are truly brilliant. You're keeping me hanging on while also managing to flirt with other men. You're so adept at playing both sides. Have I not praised you enough? Stop saying those lies, Yan Shuang. They make me sick to my stomach."

Yan Shuang looked into his bloodshot eyes, and her heart felt as if it were being tightly gripped by an icy hand, aching and sore.

It's hard to imagine that this man, who is always calm and composed, is like this.

It's as if things got out of control to this extent, with such intense emotions being displayed.

A complex and indescribable emotion welled up in my heart.

She took a small step forward, reached out, and gently took his hand, just as she had done in the past when she realized he was in a bad mood.

Shangqiu Zhu suddenly stopped, a hint of surprise flashing in his scarlet eyes.

He even subconsciously reached out to grasp that cool, soft spot.

He should push her away.

Reason was reminding him.

But the hand she was holding still gripped hers tightly in return.

However, the next second, an even more jarring image crashed into his mind.

Did she often do the same, using the same gentle movements, to shake that person's hand?

The pain and jealousy in his chest could no longer be suppressed. He looked down at her bewildered face, his heart aching beyond measure.

He grasped her hand, but his words were even more cutting and hurtful: "Nothing to say?"

The bloodshot in Shangqiu Zhu's eyes was almost overflowing. "Or are you trying to come up with another lie to deceive me? Hmm?"

The utter disbelief and disgust in his eyes made all her words get stuck in her throat.

A deep sense of powerlessness and injustice welled up inside, mixed with a long-suppressed emotion, and a rebellious mentality suddenly took over.

"I've never cared who you hang out with, so why are you interfering? Let's not even talk about how things are not what you think. Even if they are, even if everything is as you think, and Lin Chengyu and I really have something going on, that's not wrong. What right do you have to interfere with me and judge me like this?"

She also wanted to yell out loud, "You're about to marry Yan You and become someone else's husband, yet you're here raging because of her possible infidelity!"

Isn't that ridiculous?

With a sudden burst of strength, she freed her hand from his burning palm.

Shangqiu Zhu's face grew even more gloomy at a visible speed.

He stared at his suddenly empty palm, and when he looked up at Yan Shuang, the storm in his eyes almost materialized.

A silent standoff spread between the two.

Yan Shuang stared directly into his suddenly more terrifying gaze, her tone calm to the point of cruelty: "Why are you so angry right now?"

She tilted her head slightly, each word clearly audible in the air: "Our relationship," she even gave a very slight laugh, "is none of your business, Mr. Shang, who I make friends with and who I'm with."

Shangqiu Zhu was so angry he laughed.

"I'm not qualified?" he repeated the word. "But Lin Chengyu is qualified, isn't he?"

What did Yan You say? The Lin family has already formally proposed marriage to the Yan family.

He stared at Yan Shuang. "You're getting married? Is your next plan to leave me, hmm?"

"I'm not getting married, what nonsense are you talking about!"

Shangqiu Zhu ignored her denial; he simply looked into her eyes and uttered his guess, word by word.

"So that's why you used being busy with projects as an excuse to move out so early. Are you going to wait until your wedding day, when you're wearing your wedding dress, to remember to tell me?"

As she listened to his accusations, each one more detached from the truth than the last, and seeing his stubborn refusal to listen to any explanation, she forcibly suppressed the sobs and grievances welling up in her throat.

Arguing is pointless and will only make things more awkward for both of you.

She took a deep breath, her voice weary and almost pleading:

"Shangqiu Zhu, I don't want to argue with you anymore. Let's both calm down, okay?"

All the entanglements and occasional illusions of warmth are nothing more than futile struggles before the end.

She had already foreseen the outcome.

This relationship was already on its last legs for her.

Built from the very beginning on inequality and in the shadows of obscurity, its continued existence has far exceeded expectations.

What's the point of delaying it for a few more days?

Let's take this opportunity to cut ties completely.

Thinking of this, she felt an almost resolute calm.

“If you really can’t accept this,”

She paused for a moment, then finally said, "It was my fault, I apologize, okay? Now that things have come to this, I'm sure you don't want to continue, so let's end it here."

"Is this the end?"

He let out a chilling sneer, as if he had heard the most absurd joke in the world, from the depths of his throat.
