Chapter 47 Afternoon Nap The breeze still carries the fresh scent of flowers.
Wen Han asked, "Which biology lab are you from again?"
"Biological Laboratory 3".
The exam room was a mixed bag; all sorts of people were there. Wen Han had missed two exams because he had a fever and needed an IV drip, so he was assigned to this room. He hadn't even read a few pages when the person next to him nudged him, giving him a knowing look. Wen Han ignored him. Sure enough, not long after the exam started, the guy tossed a crumpled piece of paper onto Wen Han's desk, startling him.
Although school rules stipulate that students who cheat will be required to go home and reflect for a month before returning to school, the school is too lazy to manage these students, and teachers sometimes just pretend not to see them.
"You should teach them a lesson," Wen Han said, puzzled. "But with so many difficult questions in Chinese, wouldn't it be obvious if everyone had the same answer? You should at least wait until the math exam."
"They wanted to copy my multiple-choice answers."
...I estimate that once the multiple-choice questions are graded, the scores for that group will be released.
Fang Songxia went out for a while and came back panting, saying, "I think they're still plotting how to cause you trouble."
Where did you go just now?
“I went to the restroom, and when I came out I saw Zhang Yongqi and his group of friends chatting on the stairs.”
"You were eavesdropping on their conversation?"
"I didn't hear the specifics, but their expressions clearly indicated something was wrong."
Wen Han thought he was going to analyze something real, but Fang Songxia said the next second, "Think about it, didn't they glare at you when the teacher kicked them out?"
"Um."
"This is a sign. They must be holding a grudge. They couldn't even wait until the exam was over to get together. They're probably talking about you."
"They mentioned my name?"
"No."
Wen Han was speechless for a moment: "Then how did you know you were talking about me?"
"Their expressions carried a mix of anger, gloom, and ruthlessness, and an atmosphere of conspiracy permeated the air." Fang Songxia was so engrossed in her reasoning that she had forgotten everything else. "They were all all smiles when they went to play with Zhang Yongqi, so why have their expressions changed so drastically now? It can't be because they did poorly on their Chinese exam, can it?"
"Only the last sentence makes some sense. Let me ask you, what role does that sentence play?"
"It serves as a bridge between the past and the future; the future part is that they will cause you trouble."
"The Chinese exam is over, and you're still thinking about reading comprehension?" Wen Han complained. "Those people's brains combined might not even form a coherent structure, what are you afraid of?"
"But there are so many of them, what if they start a fight?"
"Go ahead and hit me, hit me all you want," Wen Han said nonchalantly. "If I can get more money in compensation so I won't have to worry about the rest of my life, then hit me."
Fang Songxia frowned and said, "Don't say that."
Wen Han was starting to wonder about Lin He's mindset. A group of people at school were chasing him every day and beating him up from time to time, yet he could still laugh and be carefree all day long. How did he manage that? Was it talent?
Jing Yu suddenly asked, "Who is the person causing you trouble?"
"Huh?" Wen Han thought for a moment, "I don't know the name, but that person looks a lot like a colonel. His eyes are vacant and his demeanor is sleazy. You'll recognize him when you see him."
Wen Han guessed, "What, are you planning to give him all the wrong answers when he takes the math test this afternoon?"
Jing Yu smiled but didn't say anything.
——
There was no afternoon practice session, and many students were flipping through their previously completed test papers until the homeroom teacher's voice came through the monitor, telling them to take a lunch break and stop looking at them.
When I sleep with my head resting on my arm, it often causes numbness in my arm and pain in my temples. But what can I do? When I get sleepy, these uncomfortable areas go numb.
Jing Yu sleeps very little, so he rarely takes a nap. However, he will still lie on the table and quietly wait for forty minutes to pass.
After his lunch break, Wen Han often complained of a dull pain from his forehead pressing against the bone in his arm. He was too thin, with little flesh on his arms. But when he turned his head to the side to sleep, his neck would hurt.
The weather had clearly turned cooler a few days ago, but it's hot again today. Wen Han woke up with a splitting headache. He glanced at the clock; only twenty minutes had passed. The students in the class were all slumped over their desks, completely silent.
At this moment, it felt as if she were the only one awake. Wen Han took a sip of water, her forehead throbbing, so she turned her head to the side and lay prone.
Jing Yu slept with his head turned to the side. Wen Han was lying on the table and could see his peaceful sleeping face, his gently closed eyelids, his high nose bridge, and his lips partially hidden in the crook of his arm.
Wen Han blinked. He was admiring the scene when a clicking sound suddenly came from his mind.
Wen Han: "System, what are you doing?"
"Ahhh!" the system said, somewhat flustered. "I'm taking notes."
"Notes?" Wen Han asked, "You're really eager to learn. What do you remember?"
"Haha, just what we talked about in class." The system stopped recording its observation notes on how to identify green tea bitches. "Host, you can go back to sleep. You still have two exams this afternoon."
"The thought of taking the physics exam irritates me." It used to be English first, then physics. Who was the brilliant idiot to change it to math first, then physics? Is this some kind of joke?!
Wen Han's consciousness gradually blurred. Jing Yu opened his eyes and saw that Wen Han's hair was wet and stuck to her forehead because of the heat.
Wen Han finally slept soundly during her afternoon nap, with a cool breeze blowing over her the whole time.
The wind even carries the fresh scent of flowers.
*
"I can't do it anymore." Fang Songxia seemed to have all her strength drained away. "I'm no good."
Wen Han lay on her book: "Don't be discouraged yet, we still have a physics exam next."
"Have you finished writing it all?"
"Haha." Wen Han laughed, pointing to herself, "Me, finished it all? How is that possible? I left several questions blank."
"Why are the multiple-choice questions so difficult this time?" Fang Songxia sighed. "So many of the multiple-choice questions are uncertain."
"Let's not talk about math." Wen Han went outside for some fresh air.
Wen Han was still a little worried about Jing Yu and decided to go to the biology lab to check on him.
The system said, "Host, the biological laboratory is in another building."
"There's a twenty-minute break between exams, what's the rush?"
"Why go so far away?"
"What if they gang up on Jingyu?"
"snort."
Approaching the biology lab, one might mistake it for a bullring. Jing Yu sat near the window, and Wen Han saw several familiar faces through it. If Gu Cheng hadn't been locked up at home by Gu Zong, she probably would have seen him here too. But that idiot preferred to skip the exam rather than stand outside Wen Ruan's exam hall to show off. Without him, the whole school would be missing a source of amusement.
Jing Yu looked up and saw Wen Han, her eyes curving gently.
Wen Han walked in happily and asked him, "Jing Yu, how did you do on the math test?"
"fine."
What's he doing here?
A few people were whispering in the corner. "Isn't that Colonel?" Wen Han rolled her eyes.
"The next exam is physics," Jingyu asked. "Have you looked at the solutions to the questions we prepared before?"
"Uh." Wen Han moved her feet away somewhat guiltily, wanting to go first.
“I brought it with me.” Jingyu pulled him back. “Let’s look at it a little longer.”
"This type of question will definitely be on the test, so you should review it."
Wen Han frowned unconsciously. The person in front of Jing Yu had gone out to play, so Wen Han sat in his seat. Jing Yu pointed with his pen: "There's also this question."
"And this question too."
Wen Han muttered, "Why are there so many?"
Jing Yu chuckled softly, "Because there are a lot of exams."
As the system scooped up the pudding, it observed it more and more, concluding that the other party was either Pu'er or Longjing tea reincarnated—as long as it was a good tea plant, that was fine.
"Hey bro, you're a great student," the colonel asked as he walked over. "Could you help us out on the physics exam next time?"
This is exactly the situation I was worried about. Wen Han immediately stood up and said, "If you don't know how, then leave it blank. Don't even think about copying his work."
"I'm not asking you, who do you think you are?" the colonel said condescendingly, taking advantage of his height. "I haven't settled the score with you for what happened this morning. Do you have to get a beating before you learn how to talk?"
"Wen Han!" Lin He waved. "What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here?" Wen Han asked. "Are you in this exam room?"
"No, I'm in Class 1."
Class One was the exam room where the top forty students in the whole school took the test last time. Although this person had a terrible character, their grades were excellent. Wen Han said irritably, "Why did you take the exam here if you were in Class One?"
"Weren't you also taking the exam in Class 5? How come you were able to come?"
How did you know?
Lin He said with a grin, "I'm going to check out the exam schedule that your class posted on the wall."
Wen Han gritted her teeth: "I came here to see Jing Yu, what are you doing here?"
"I have something to do too?" Lin He smiled. "Our homeroom teacher is the chief examiner."
"so what?"
Lin He asked, "Who is Xu Changyuan?"
The colonel said irritably, "You're looking for me?"
Lin He shrugged: "Hey classmate, you know there are cameras in every exam room, right?"
"You were caught cheating. The teacher said you don't need to take the test. Go to the office first."
Wen Han was bewildered. Although there were teachers patrolling during exams, he had always thought the cameras were just for intimidating students. Besides, the teachers usually didn't bother with the students in the lab, so why were they suddenly checking the cameras this time?
Xu Changyuan looked very unhappy. Just then, the proctor entered, and it happened to be the same teacher who had proctored Wen Han's Chinese exam that morning.
"Hey, weren't you taking the exam in Class 5?" the teacher asked. "The biology lab is so far away, what are you doing here?"
Wen Han: "......"
Wen Han slunk away, and after walking a while, Lin He caught up and hooked his arm around his shoulder, followed by Xu Changyuan, whose face was ashen.
"What's going on?" Wen Han asked him. "Why did you suddenly check the surveillance footage?"
"I don't know, but it's certainly strange, isn't it?" Lin He said mysteriously. "Do you know whose exam paper he copied?"
"They're all in the same exam room, what difference could there be?"
Lin He smiled but remained silent.
"Hey," Xu Changyuan suddenly asked, "what's the name of the person you're looking for?"
