Chapter 28 Intercepted?
Captain Zhao went to apply for transfer to another hospital for treatment. Before that, he made a phone call.
"Hello, I'm Zhao Desheng, commander of the 706th Unit of the 36th Army. Please put me in touch with Commander Gu! This is urgent, lives are at stake, hurry!"
The other side quickly transferred to the headquarters. After listening to Zhao Desheng's description of the situation, Gu Xingguo thought for less than five seconds before making a decision. "I will help you with the transfer application as soon as possible. Before that, please make sure to find the Chinese medicine doctor you mentioned as soon as possible to help him avoid any sequelae. Also, just in case, I will immediately send two more leading experts to meet you. If the Chinese medicine doctor fails to meet our expectations, these two experts will be immediately replaced."
Captain Zhao agreed repeatedly, and his heart, which had been hanging high, finally settled down and felt much more at ease.
"Thank you, Captain Zhao, for your concern."
"This is what I should do. It's my honor to leave a talent like Captain Qian for the army!"
The two of them quickly exchanged ideas about the address and personnel before hanging up the phone.
Gu Xingguo sat in his office, lost in thought. He knew how much his son loved military life, and how, influenced by him, he had set his sights on serving his country from a young age. His journey had only just begun. If he woke up and found he could no longer stay, it would be more painful than death.
Now I can only keep it a secret from my wife to prevent her from being overwhelmed. I can only wait until my son gets treated and understands his condition before thinking about how to explain it to her.
"What? The commanders of the first and third companies stole your battalion commander from the hospital?" Brigade Commander Wu rubbed his bald head, somewhat bewildered. "Stole"? What the hell was that?
Gu Zhenbei selectively said that they did not believe in the level of the military hospital, so they were going to change the place for treatment. Brigade Commander Wu got angry when he heard it.
"Why are you running away instead of treating your wounds? Are you throwing your life away? From now on, everyone will believe everything they hear. Who will dare to entrust their life to the country? Who will obey orders? This is nonsense. No one is worrying about you every day. Fortunately, Xiao Gu was more stable and didn't join in the nonsense. If this gets to the higher-ups, you will all be punished and no one will get away! I know about this. Don't worry, I will immediately let the second battalion commander Zhu Dashan go after them."
When Qian Jingsheng's superiors received the call, Brigade Commander Wu had already sent the commander of the second battalion to lead people to block the enemy.
Captain Zhao put down the phone, wrote an application and submitted it. When he heard that Brigade Wu wanted to see him, he rushed to the brigade commander in a hurry. As soon as he arrived, he was scolded.
Zhao Desheng had already prepared himself to be scolded. Being scolded was the least of his worries; being punished was a possibility.
Upon learning that Commander Wu had already dispatched the patient, he quickly explained that he had consulted the patient's father, and the commander had agreed. He had also submitted a report, but said it was an emergency and that the sooner the treatment, the better. Furthermore, the military hospital had clearly stated that there was less than a ten percent chance of a full recovery.
Brigade Commander Wu touched his bald head. People say that hair is a group of three thousand strands of troubles, so he is also upset because he has no hair.
At this moment, the application consent form had already been delivered to him, making him furious. Gu Zhenbei's unclear words had led him to mistakenly believe that the two had made a private decision. Now this misunderstanding had occurred.
Let me explain this in two ways.
After Qian Jingsheng was dealt with urgently, Wu Changlin drove the car at the highest speed and headed straight for Xiahe Village.
Fortunately, the distance was not too far. We were about to reach the town and the car behind us caught up.
The person who came was Zhu Dashan, the battalion commander of the second battalion.
No matter how good Wu Changlin's driving skills are, he can't make the ambulance run faster than the military vehicle.
As expected, they were stopped.
"Liu Zhigang, commander of the first company of the first battalion, and Wu Changlin, commander of the third company of the first battalion, immediately stop your vehicles and transport the patient back to the military district for treatment. Otherwise, we will take strong measures and ask you to return!"
After shouting this three times, the two men sitting in the front looked at each other, thinking something was wrong. The Second Battalion Commander had always been at odds with their First Battalion, and today they had sent him to intercept them. With only two or three men on their side, there was no chance of success.
Wu Changlin shouted at Zhu Dashan, "The military hospital can save him, but they can't cure him. We're following orders from our superiors to take him there for treatment. We've already applied for a vaccination, but it hasn't been approved yet. Since Captain Qian saved you during a mission before, could you please let us take him away and send him to his destination? We'll go back with you and accept any punishment."
Zhu Dashan hadn't anticipated this. The order he received simply stated that the patient was uncooperative and asked him to intercept and take him back to the military hospital for treatment. However, they didn't say that even if he survived, he would face discharge.
After thinking for a moment, he stepped aside and said, "Brothers from the Second Battalion, we failed to catch up with them today and lost our target. Keep tracking!"
"Yes!" everyone answered in unison.
"We, the Second Battalion, don't want to compete with a bunch of headless noobs. We're waiting for Captain Qian to come back and compete with the First Battalion in the next big competition!"
Wu Changlin and Liu Zhigang had tears in their eyes, pursed their lips, said nothing, but raised their hands and saluted vigorously.
The other side also responded with a military salute.
Everything is implied.
The car started and drove quickly into the distance.
"Captain, are we all right like this?"
Zhu Dashan spit out a piece of dogtail grass in his mouth. "What's going on? What could it be? He's not an enemy spy. Whoever has the ability should save him. If you can't cure him, and you're still blocking him from leaving, isn't that just robbing him for money and killing him? I won't do that! There will be retribution."
"Then how do we respond to our superiors? We need an explanation."
"Didn't they say they've already applied? Let's just walk back slowly. By the time we get back, the application might have been approved. It's all legal and compliant. Why should we get involved?"
"Also, stay away from that Gu next time."
"Why?"
"I'm too lazy to explain to you. You're so stupid that you can't be the battalion commander."
——
Wen Zhu received the food her mother had left at the security guard's office on Wednesday. Although she didn't see the person, she felt the mother's love.
Xu Niannian came back twelve hours after being taken away. Without evidence, she could not be detained for a long time.
But her reputation at school wasn't great. Wen Zhu's words had helped keep most of the more reasonable students from gossiping. Plus, the principal had recently cracked down on those spreading rumors, so no one wanted to be the first to gossip.
Even though everyone was curious about Xu Niannian's arrest and release, almost no one discussed it privately.
But Xu Niannian herself didn't think so. She felt that everyone's silence was deafening, and they must be plotting against her behind her back.
Wen Zhu didn't have time to care what she thought because she was in a hurry to go home.
From a distance, she could see her second and third brothers waiting for her at the school gate. The third brother smiled brightly and waved at her vigorously. Nearby was Qian Xusen, eager to eat the meal her mother cooked. Even with his limp, he still managed to look cool by putting one hand in his pocket.
The three handsome and tall boys attracted everyone's obscure and inquiring gazes, until Wen Zhu ran over, and then everyone suddenly realized what was going on. It turned out that they were here to pick up Wen Zhu, no wonder!
Xu Niannian hid in an inconspicuous corner like a rat in a gutter, silently watching Wen Zhu.
Seeing Wen Zhu being cared for like a little princess, having her schoolbag handed over, and her brother patting her head affectionately, she was jealous to the point of going crazy.
But she had to face reality and could no longer hide in school. She had to go home because she had to pay for next month's food. One can imagine what kind of torture and beatings she would face if she returned.
After watching Wen Zhu and his group disappear, she lowered her head and left alone.
One day, she will get everything she wants.
