Chapter 12 The Old Sow Wears a Western Skirt
Xia Qianqian was unaware that Liu Xiao'e had come to help her daughter steal her man. She happily followed Er Ya towards the town.
There are factories in the town, and the workers would come out to buy vegetables after work. The surrounding villagers saw this business opportunity and spontaneously set up stalls near the factories to sell the vegetables and fruits they grew themselves.
Every day, Xiangyang Village sends out an oxcart. Villagers pay the driver with grain or other items as fare and then ride the oxcart to town.
They happened to catch an oxcart today, and it didn't take them long to get to town.
"Auntie, this way." As soon as they got out of the car, Er Ya led Xia Qianqian into the market with practiced ease.
"Wow, the meat isn't all sold yet!" Seeing the meat displayed on the counter, Er Ya turned her head and looked at Xia Qianqian.
Others had tried to scam her using similar tricks before, but she had them all humiliated and left them speechless. If Aunt Xia were to try to scam anyone, she wouldn't be so quick to hurl insults at her.
Er Ya silently prepared her curses. But just then, she heard Xia Qianqian ask about the price of the meat. Not only that, Xia Qianqian also took out money from her pocket and bought all the meat in one go.
These meats are a luxury; even working couples would only occasionally buy one to satisfy their cravings. The stall owner had never seen such a generous person before. He took the money and began to wrap the meat in oil paper.
"Here you go! Ouch!" As the stall owner handed the meat to Xia Qianqian, blood flowed out and dripped onto Xia Qianqian's clothes, instantly staining her beautiful dress with a striking red.
"This...this..."
When the stall owner saw that Xia Qianqian's dress was dirty, he immediately became flustered and hurriedly picked up a rag to help wipe it.
But he noticed at a glance that the rag was even dirtier, and his face was full of embarrassment. He hurriedly said, "I'm so sorry, how about I give you another piece of pig's blood?"
Xia Qianqian didn't refuse, because she had already seen Er Ya licking her lips with longing.
Xia Qianqian reached out and took the pig's blood cube from the stall owner. Just then, she heard a mocking voice: "Who do we have here? Isn't this my adopted sister?"
Xia Qianqian turned around and saw Xia Wenwen and her mother standing not far away.
Today, Xia Wenwen came to complete her transfer procedures. She never expected to see Xia Qianqian here.
When she saw the bloodstains on Xia Qianqian's dress and the cloth shoes on her feet that only village girls would wear, she felt an indescribable sense of relief.
Xia Qianqian should be like this, disheveled and unkempt, and it would be best if she got beaten up every day from now on.
"Er Ya, let's go." Xia Qianqian didn't want to pay any attention to them.
Er Ya's eyes darted around, and she immediately realized that Aunt Xia and the mother and daughter in front of her didn't have a good relationship. Since Aunt Xia had bought her meat, she had to repay Aunt Xia.
"Auntie, did you just hear a dog barking?" Er Ya said, her eyes fixed on Xia Wenwen.
Xia Qianqian couldn't help but laugh; Er Ya was helping her vent her anger.
She pulled Er Ya into her arms: "Keep your voice down, or the dog will bite you."
Xia Wenwen could easily tell that Xia Qianqian was indirectly insulting her. She pointed at Xia Qianqian and yelled, "You country bumpkin, you deserve to marry an old man!"
Before she could finish cursing, a handful of mud was suddenly thrown into her mouth.
Er Ya put her hands on her hips and said angrily, "You're not allowed to insult my dad and Aunt Xia! Look at the clothes you're wearing, it's like an old sow trying to wear a Western dress. You better put your pig's paws away right now, or the stall owner will arrest you as a pig!"
After Xia Wenwen returned to the Xia family, her mother felt she had wronged her in the past, so she tried every means to nourish her body, and Xia Wenwen's face became noticeably rounder. Er Ya's scolding made Xia Wenwen so angry her eyes seemed to spit fire.
"You brat, I'll beat you to death!"
Just as she was about to make a move, Xia Qianqian suddenly reached out and grabbed Xia Wenwen's arm tightly.
"Ouch!" Xia Wenwen's face contorted in pain.
Seeing this, Xia's mother felt distressed and quickly said, "Qianqian, why don't you let go? You're hurting your sister!"
Seeing her mother's biased attitude, Xia Qianqian didn't bother to waste her breath arguing with her.
She slightly raised her chin, looked down at Xia Wenwen, and said coldly, "If you don't know how to speak properly, next time it won't be as simple as getting mud thrown at you!"
Under Xia Qianqian's cold and oppressive gaze, Xia Wenwen's body trembled uncontrollably.
Er Ya looked at Aunt Xia with admiration, secretly marveling: I never expected Aunt Xia to be so amazing!
"Er Ya, let's go."
Seeing that Xia Wenwen was already scared into submission, Xia Qianqian forcefully shook off her hand and then left with Er Ya without looking back.
"mom!!"
Seeing Xia Qianqian swagger away like that, Xia Wenwen stomped her feet in anger.
Just then, Xia's mother spotted Qin Yan's car.
"Wenwen, go and say hello to Young Master Qin."
Upon hearing her mother's words, Xia Wenwen immediately stopped her tantrum and started walking quickly towards the distance with a big smile.
Qin Yan had already spotted these people. A mocking smile appeared on his lips as he thought to himself: Xia Qianqian, are you playing hard to get?
"Young Master Qin, should we stop the car?" the driver asked respectfully.
"Heh." Qin Yan snorted coldly through his nose and said disdainfully, "Speed up!"
A car sped past Xia Wenwen, startling her into letting out a scream.
As Qin Yan's car drove away, she bit her lip and said, "Mom, is it because I grew up in the countryside that Brother Qin Yan is so distant from me?"
Xia's mother quickly comforted her daughter: "Wenwen, how can this be your fault? It's all because Mom didn't protect you well."
Xia Wenwen whispered, "Maybe my adoptive mother did this on purpose, so that her own daughter could enjoy the same privileged conditions as our family."
Her words instantly dispelled any lingering pity Xia's mother had felt for Xia Qianqian.
Xia's mother said to her, "Let's go home first. In a few days, I'll visit the Qin family and mention your engagement. My dear, what's rightfully yours, no one can take away."
"Hmm." Xia Wenwen lowered her eyes, concealing her malice towards Xia Qianqian.
She was determined to take back everything that once belonged to Xia Qianqian!
Xia Qianqian had no idea what Xia Wenwen was thinking. If she did, she would probably give her the middle finger too.
Now that they've met Lu Zheng, who would still care about Qin Yan?
