Chapter 367 They Look Like a Couple
As he spoke, he raised his fist, ready to fight Howard.
It's clear that he often resorts to fighting to resolve issues, but Howard doesn't want to fight him. He wants to reason with him, since his behavior is wrong.
Howard would never lay a hand on a woman in his life. Even though his ex-wife betrayed him, he never hit her. He has a deep-rooted sense of manners; it's something he was born with.
He said calmly, "I will report what you did today to the police. You beat her wantonly, and she was injured. You will go to jail."
"What did you say? Go to jail?" The man's momentum immediately weakened.
He was never an reasonable person, but he was just an ordinary person after all. Ordinary people are afraid of going to jail and the police. Just mentioning the police makes his legs go weak.
Farmers like them wouldn't dare to go against the police.
When he attacked Chun Ya, Chun Ya only told her family and the village chief.
"Yes, that's right. If you dare to cause trouble again, I'll have the police arrest you," Howard said.
Many people in the village don't understand the law and behave very crudely and barbarically, just like savages, which he finds disgusting.
Seeing how calm Howard was, the man was intimidated but still a little scared. Suddenly, he shouted, "You're talking nonsense! The police would never come to arrest me. You must be a liar!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than he picked up a stone from the ground and charged at Howard.
Chun Ya covered her mouth, shocked, and said, "Be careful."
Although Howard wasn't as strong as him, he was still a man, and his reaction was quick enough to subdue the man's hand. However, the other man was very strong, and the rock didn't hit Howard's head, but instead hit his hand.
His hand immediately started bleeding.
Just then, the puppy suddenly rushed over and bit the man's thigh.
The man screamed in agony.
The scene immediately descended into chaos.
Eventually, the police were brought in because the matter had escalated too much, so some villagers reported it to the police.
Everyone was injured, and it seemed that Chun Ya's ex-husband was more seriously injured, after all, he had been bitten by a dog and was covered in blood.
The police officer asked, "What exactly is going on here?"
The man immediately complained: "He sent his dog to bite me. Look, a piece of flesh has been bitten off my leg. I want him to pay all my medical expenses and put him in jail."
Howard said, "I don't have a dog."
man:"?"
He said angrily, "You're lying, that dog is yours."
The police didn't know whether Howard owned a dog, so they started investigating the villagers. As a result, all the villagers testified that Howard did not own a dog.
"He lives alone, how could he have a dog? That's not true."
"Howard, he's never owned a dog."
Howard had just brought his dog back. Some villagers genuinely didn't know that Howard owned a dog. Others knew that Howard owned a dog, but since Howard was from their village and the man was from another village, they naturally protected Howard. So after asking around, everyone realized that the dog didn't belong to Howard.
The man was completely stunned: "What about the dog?"
One villager said, "It must have been a stray dog from the mountains. It's already run away, and we can't find it. There are just a lot of stray dogs in these mountains, and there's nothing we can do about it."
The man gritted his teeth and said, "That dog is definitely not a stray. It's clean, and it doesn't look like a stray. It's obviously a domesticated dog."
He looked at the police and hurriedly said, "Police, my injuries can't just be left like this. That dog hurt me, we must kill it, and its owner must also be punished."
As he said this, he kept staring at Howard. He felt that the dog belonged to Howard. Everyone was on Howard's side and wouldn't tell the truth, but he just felt that the dog belonged to Howard.
The police officer looked at him but didn't say anything.
He then looked at the timid Chun Ya and asked, "What does that dog look like?"
Chun Ya pursed her lips and described, "That dog suddenly darted out from not far away. It was very dirty, with thick, matted fur. It was obviously a wild dog from the mountains."
With so many people testifying, the truth has come to light.
The man said incredulously, "Chun Ya, you actually lied to me! That dog wasn't a stray at all! You bitch, I'll teach you a lesson!"
He was about to get up and hit Chun Ya, but this time Chun Ya didn't dodge at all. The police stopped him halfway: "You have been threatening and beating your ex-wife, and today you also beat up this Comrade Huo. Your behavior is very bad. Come with us."
The man then realized he couldn't explain himself, so he quickly said, "Officer, that's not how it is. They also hit me. I'm innocent."
However, the police did not believe him, and he was eventually taken away.
After everyone left, Chun Ya finally breathed a sigh of relief. She closed her eyes, feeling her whole body still trembling.
"I'm sorry, I've dragged you into this," Chun Ya said.
Howard shook his head: "This has nothing to do with you, you don't need to apologize."
He only offered to help because he couldn't stand seeing Chun Ya being bullied.
Chun Ya lowered her eyes and said, "I know you're a good person."
She actually had a very good impression of Howard, but Howard didn't seem to be interested in her, so he wasn't willing to take things further with her.
Howard looked at her; her sleeves were torn by that man, indicating that her ex-husband treated her very badly and probably abused her frequently. She had finally gotten a divorce, but she was still being harassed by her ex-husband.
He said, "Your ex-husband probably won't be out for a while. If he comes out and comes looking for you, remember to contact your family and make sure you protect yourself."
After Chun Ya's divorce, she lived with her family. Even if her ex-husband dared to do anything, he wouldn't dare because his family was with her.
He also discovered today that Chun Ya's ex-husband was just a bully who preyed on the weak. He looked fierce, but he didn't dare to do anything.
Chun Ya smiled wryly and said, "I understand."
Although she lives at home, her family doesn't like her at all. Everyone wants her to get out as soon as possible, especially her sister-in-law, who has disliked her for a long time, but she can't do anything about it.
Her ex-husband became so arrogant because he realized that her family didn't care about her much. Her family even hoped that she could remarry him so that they could get rid of her as a burden.
But she wouldn't tell Howard any of this. She simply said, "Your injury looks serious. I'll go with you to the hospital."
Howard's hand was hit by a rock; the wound had scabbed over, but it was still quite noticeable.
"No need, it's just a minor injury, it'll be fine in a few days," Howard said casually.
Chun Ya said seriously, "No, if the wound gets infected, that would be a big deal. We still need to go to the hospital to get it checked out."
At her insistence, the two finally went to the county hospital. Although the hospital has now reopened, it looks desolate because of the previous setbacks.
Chun Ya remembered the effects of each medicine, so she instructed, "Take this medicine after meals, and apply this medicine three times a day."
The doctor said, "Your wife really cares about you."
Chun Ya quickly waved her hands, her face turning red: "I'm not his wife, we're just...we're..."
She couldn't say what their relationship was; in fact, they weren't even friends.
The doctor didn't believe him. He said, "You two look very much like a married couple. How could you not be?"
Howard said, "We are friends."
"My friend..." the doctor said, drawing out his words at length.
He didn't believe they were friends. How could there be such good opposite-sex friends who would accompany each other to the doctor?
