Chapter 137 Holding Hands
Xiang Yun stared at the screen when a piece of popcorn was offered to him. Without thinking, he bit into the popcorn, his lips touching his soft fingertips.
He stopped chewing and was about to apologize to Xu Songning when he heard her ask, "Is it good?"
"Um."
Actually, popcorn has a strong saccharin taste, like a snack that kids love. He doesn't usually eat it and rarely goes to the movies.
When the screen is completely dark, Dolby sound surrounds the theater, the screen in front of you is so clear, and the whistling wind and the sound of chasing footsteps stimulate your senses to the maximum.
"Bang!"
With a woman's desperate scream, a corpse crashed to the ground.
The camera suddenly zoomed in on that bloodied and mangled face.
Xiang Yun clenched his fist, completely forgetting that there was another person's hand resting on his. Xu Songning's hand slid down his wrist and they clasped tightly together.
Before Xiang Yun could react to the noise from the side, Xu Songning turned to the side, covered her eyes, and rested her head on his shoulder, placing the popcorn beside her.
She asked in a low voice, "Have the scary parts been shown yet?"
Her warm breath brushed against Xiang Yun's neck. The two were very close, and Xiang Yun could even feel the heat emanating from her skin pores.
Xiang Yun's heart pounded in fright, then changed its rhythm, beating quickly and powerfully in his chest.
He glanced at the screen, which finally lit up again. It was daytime, and a team of police officers had arrived to investigate the fall from the building the previous night.
"It's all done."
Xu Songning then opened his eyes, sat back up properly, and the two of them still held hands.
The air conditioning in the theater was set very low, but Xiang Yun felt a warmth in the area where his palms were touching. His attention was more drawn to his palms than to the danger that might appear at any moment in the horror scenes.
He tried to pull his hand away to wipe away the non-existent sweat from his palms, but was pulled even harder.
"The terrifying place is coming again."
Xu Songning half-covered her eyes and leaned slightly towards him, their shoulders touching, exchanging body heat.

The clasped hands seemed to dispel all fear. Xiang Yun leaned back in his chair and watched the entire film with relative calm. Xu Songning could only sense whether he was afraid by the occasional tightening of his hands.
The movie's plot is rather clichéd: two people huddle together, talking back and forth, and they manage to uncover the real culprit. Once the mystery is solved, the process isn't so scary anymore.
When the lights came on, their hands were still clasped together.
Xu Songning stepped aside and laughed, saying, "I told you that when two people come to see a movie together, there's less fear."
Xiang Yun moved her fingers, gripping them so tightly that they didn't feel like her own anymore; they were a bit stiff.
"Not bad. Do you often watch this type of movie?"
Xu Songning tilted his head and smiled, "I usually watch horror movies alone at night with the lights off, so there's no need to tell him about this little trick."
"That depends on who you're watching with. If both of you are scared, then you can't watch this kind of movie. Yun-ge is really brave. Let's watch it together next time."
Xiang Yun calmly put his hands in his pockets. "Okay, the suspense film is quite good."

Xu Songning inwardly chuckled to himself; if he hadn't been holding the man's hand, he would have believed what he said.
They left the movie theater at four o'clock in the afternoon. It was still early to go back, so they decided to find somewhere else to have some fun.
"Shall we go rock climbing? Or go to Happy Valley to ride the roller coaster?" Xiang Yun asked her.
It's already four o'clock. If we go to Happy Valley, we'll get back quite late, which will affect our work performance the next day.
"Go rock climbing, go ride a roller coaster, isn't that overtime for you?" Xu Songning laughed.
It's a waste of money for a pilot to ride a roller coaster. He could experience a more thrilling ride like the spinning wheel in front of the pilot training area.
Xiang Yun corrected her, "This doesn't count as overtime, it counts as extra training."
Xu Songning couldn't help but chuckle, "You're already on vacation, so we definitely can't let you do extra training."
Fortunately, there is a climbing gym near this shopping mall. It is a newly renovated venue with a large space.
The two followed the navigation to the climbing gym, but it was still in the promotional stage and not many people were playing there.
The receptionist, who was bored, immediately brightened up when she saw someone come in, but when she saw the two people's faces, she immediately started to speak in a low voice.
"Welcome! Would you two like to try rock climbing? Our shop has a 10-meter-high simulated rock wall and bouldering training wall, a 15-meter speed climbing track that meets IFSC standards, a top rope climbing area with a French belay system, and German brand dynamic belay ropes, ensuring your safety! After hearing this long string of promotional slogans, Xu Songning, an outsider to the field, was completely bewildered. She whispered to Xiang Yun, "Brother Yun, does this sound like a scam?"
"It seems quite legitimate. I've never played this before?" Xiang Yun replied.
Xu Songning shook his head. He was so busy every day that he didn't have time to go rock climbing. Xiang Yun didn't seem like the type of person who would come to a place like this either. Gu Xing probably brought him here again.
Xiang Yun went up to the front desk to talk to them and bought a few hours' worth of experience cards. He then turned around and comforted her, "It's okay, rock climbing isn't difficult, it can relieve stress."
"Do you need a personal trainer?" the receptionist asked sweetly. This was her first sale of the day! If she bought another personal training package, her commission would be even higher.
"Do you have any recommendations for personal trainers?" Xu Songning asked.
The receptionist led her to the wall displaying information on personal trainers. The left wall featured male trainers, while the right wall featured female trainers. She was about to walk to the left, but under Xiang Yun's watchful gaze, the receptionist instantly understood his intention and led Xu Songning to the wall of female trainers, introducing them to her one by one.
"Where's the male personal trainer over there?" Xu Songning asked deliberately.
The receptionist glanced at Xiang Yun, who lifted his eyelids slightly. "Hiring me is worse than hiring a male personal trainer."
“Okay.” Xu Songning readily agreed.
Xiang Yun had come to play a few times and was good at rock climbing on his own, but if he were to teach Xu Songning, he was afraid that Xu Songning would get hurt, since he was not a professional after all.
"Never mind, I'm worried you might get hurt. Let's choose a personal trainer instead."
Xu Songning looked around the photo wall and chose a female personal trainer who looked very experienced and had strong arm muscles.
"Okay~ I'll contact the personal instructor right away. She'll be here in fifteen minutes. Now we can go and choose our climbing gear. Would you like to rent or buy a set?" The receptionist, seeing that they had important clients, enthusiastically handed them two bottles of water.
