Chapter 210 Forced Rest

Chapter 210 Forced Rest

Xu Songning was woken up by the alarm clock. This time, no one helped her turn off the alarm, coaxed her, or woke her up.

Xu Songning sat up groggily and changed into the clothes Xiang Yun had bought for her.

The clothes fit her perfectly, just like Sister Xu's usual style. How come Xiang Yun knows her better than she does herself?

Xu Songning stared blankly at herself in the mirror. She hadn't slept well last night, and her eyes were a little puffy. After tidying herself up, she stepped out of the room.

Cui Yuyue and Ms. Cui greeted her. Mr. Xiang had no classes today and was making breakfast at home.

The group sat down, finished their breakfast, and then went about their own business.

Xu Songning hadn't had a chance to tell anyone else about Xiang Yun's plane accident. Only Gu Xing, who was in the same industry, sent her a message as soon as he got off the plane after hearing the news.

However, Xu Songning couldn't say much; she only sent a message saying, "Everyone is safe."

Knowing that the person was safe, they didn't ask any more questions.

Xiao Jin walked to the door with the documents in her arms, and was startled to see Xu Songning. "Sister Xu! What brings you to work?"

"Don't I have a shift today?" Xu Songning found his behavior a bit strange.

"Didn't Director Liu tell you yesterday? He changed your shifts so you could rest first." Xiao Jin showed her the form sent in the group chat. Xu Songning vaguely remembered it, but she really wasn't in the mood to look at it carefully yesterday, thinking she would still have to go to work today.

"I forgot." Xu Songning slapped his forehead. "Should I go home?"

Xiao Jin scratched his head. "Why don't you go find Director Liu? Director Liu might want to see you too; they were just talking about this a moment ago."

"Okay, go ahead and get busy." Xu Songning waved goodbye to Xiao Jin.

She knocked on the office door. Director Liu looked up and saw her, and was momentarily surprised, but quickly calmed down and waved her in, "Come in."

Xu Songning pulled up a stool and sat down, saying casually, "I forgot I didn't need to come to work today."

“You can come, but the Civil Aviation Administration still needs to investigate. They’ll send someone over this afternoon. If you don’t come to work, I’ll have to call you over.” Director Liu pushed a copy of the report she wrote yesterday to her. “Sign it. I need to go over this matter again today.”

"Is everything alright on my end?" Xu Songning asked, bowing his head to sign.

"There's nothing serious, otherwise I wouldn't have let you go yesterday. It's just a normal procedure." Director Liu pointed to another spot and asked her to sign her name again.

"What about the crew?"

“The crew… Hey, Song Ning, are you trying to mess with me?” Director Liu glared at her.

"Can't I say?"

"How would I know? The investigation team will definitely be much stricter. The Civil Aviation Administration and the company will be involved. This investigation will go round after round, and they won't release the person until it's all over." Director Liu sighed, looking at her as if he wanted to say something but hesitated, "You..."

"What's wrong?"

"You should take a psychological test later to check your stress levels. Songning, these kinds of special situations usually require a few days of rest. Don't work too hard these few days. Once the investigation is over, just rest at home for a few days." Director Liu looked at her worriedly; the girl's eyes were already showing bags from exhaustion.

Pay more attention to your image, kid; she's the most beautiful girl in their air traffic control department.

"good."

This time, Xu Songning did not disobey Director Liu. Taking leave was the best arrangement for her in this situation. Psychological counseling and testing were also necessary. Before returning to work after her leave, she would have to take the simulator a few more times and do one or two psychological tests to prove that this emergency had not had a significant psychological impact on her before she could return to her command position.

This time, Xu Songning went directly to the psychological counseling room without being urged by anyone.

The therapist knew she would come and had prepared the materials in advance, waiting for her in the consultation room. When she appeared, the therapist smiled at her in a friendly manner and went up to hug her.

How are you feeling?

"I feel...unable to sleep," Xu Songning said honestly as she sat down opposite the therapist.

"It's normal to not be able to sleep. Commanding a plane on the verge of going out of control during an emergency is a crazy thing in itself. And judging from how things were handled, you did a great job."

"The crew did a very good job."

“The crew did a great job, but you can’t deny your own contribution.” The psychologist smiled and pushed a test form towards her. “Take it and see how much psychological pressure you’re under right now. I bet it’s not low.”

Xu Songning smiled in response. The captain on the plane was her boyfriend. With this double pressure, it was hard for her not to feel stressed.

Xu Songning hesitated more this time when taking the test, something that had never happened before.

The therapist went about her own business, occasionally glancing at her progress without putting pressure on her.

After Xu Songning handed her the test form, the psychologist first entered the data into the computer, then made a paper copy and put it in her file before sitting back down at the computer to analyze the problem with Xu Songning.

"The pressure is indeed higher than before, but it's still within a manageable range. Did Director Liu tell you? He suggested you take a few days off." The psychologist pointed to the test form.

"I told you, I'm planning to take a few days off." Xu Songning leaned back in his chair, his movements appearing relaxed, but he was actually a little anxious.

The therapist watched her every move with a gentle gaze that made her feel comfortable.

"What do you think? How has this emergency affected you?"

"When I saw the plane dropping altitude, I remained calm, but my hands and feet were ice cold. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to contact the plane, and I was also worried that something had happened to it." Xu Songning rubbed her forehead; she hadn't slept well and her head ached.

The therapist noticed her subtle movements and first helped to calm her emotions, greatly soothing her anxiety. Then, the therapist asked her, "Would you like to sleep here for a while?"

"I..." Xu Songning wanted to refuse, but she really had a headache, and a nap might help.

“This is a private room, no one else will come, you can sleep peacefully. I heard you have another survey this afternoon, why don’t you take a nap and have some dinner before you go?” The psychologist led her to a consultation room.

The bed in the examination room was small and covered with a disposable medical mat.

She lay down and closed her eyes.

The therapist took out her phone and connected it to a Bluetooth speaker. "What would you like to listen to to help you sleep?"

"White noise, I guess."

“Okay.” The psychologist searched for white noise in the list and suddenly thought of something fun, “I have white noise from an airplane engine here, would you like to try it? Some passengers have reported that they sometimes sleep very well when they sit above the engine.”

"A unique flavor," Xu Songning murmured.

"Shall we choose another one?"

"Give it a try."

"OK."

The therapist played an audio recording, and the sound of an airplane engine filled the quiet room.

Xu Songning thought it was a bit far-fetched; could someone really fall asleep listening to the engine?

At first, the sound was relatively quiet. Xu Songning closed his eyes and could imagine the plane taxiing on the runway.

A few dozen seconds later, the engine roared, the plane lifted its wheels, and headed towards Yunxiang.

The plane engines roared continuously, and Xu Songning dreamed of the clouds amidst this sound.
