Chapter 211 Reunion

Chapter 211 Reunion

Xu Songning slept well. After the psychologist woke her up, she ate a meal and then went to undergo the second round of investigation by the Civil Aviation Administration.

The investigation was similar to the last one, except that they asked more detailed questions and made her sign several more documents before letting her go home.

She was "forced" by Director Liu to rest at home for a few days. She couldn't stand staying in her own house and thought of Xiang Yun every minute of every day.

I quickly grabbed a few sets of clothes and went to Xiang Yun's house to stay, just to put the two elders at ease.

With Xu Songning at home keeping things in order, Ms. Cui was more focused at work, and Mr. Xiang wasn't lonely when he came home from get out of class; someone would keep him company and play chess with him.

Ms. Xu made an overseas call, learning that a plane had made an emergency landing at Shanghai Airport, and her first thought was of her daughter.

In the event of an emergency, both on-duty controllers and those not on duty will experience psychological stress.

To avoid worrying her mother, Xu Songning didn't say that Xiang Yun was the one who flew the plane. She decided to let her mother and Qiaoqiao know after Xiang Yun finished his investigation.

Ms. Xu keenly sensed that her daughter was in a bad mood. "Sweetie, tell Mom the truth, were you on duty that day?"

"Um...it was me who directed it." Xu Songning's voice was a little muffled. She was lying in bed resting and didn't want to get up.

Mr. Xiang went to class, and Ms. Cui and Cui Yuyue went to the law firm, leaving her alone at home.

"Sweetie, how do you feel? Are you scared?"

"Afraid."

“It’s normal to be scared. I was scared too when I first encountered this situation. You did a great job, and the captain handled it very well. Together, you saved all the passengers. These past few days, I’ve seen a lot of comments online praising the captain’s decision. Even if there’s an investigation, the crew won’t be made to suffer too much.”

"I believe him."

"Um?"

"Oh, I mean I trust the crew. The investigation should be over soon, right?" Xu Songning lay on the bed, feeling completely uncertain. She was still very worried because she hadn't seen Xiang Yun in person.

"Yes, the main problem this time was with the engine; the crew saved the passengers on board."

Xu Songning exchanged a few more casual words with her mother before hanging up the phone.

She lay lazily on the bed, sprawled out with her limbs, not wanting to move.

This was supposed to be her rest time; she should get some rest.

The phone rang again.

This time, it was Xiang Yun's personalized caller ID.

Xu Songning jumped up almost immediately and answered the phone.

"Brother Yun!"

My eyes were already sore from just saying a simple greeting.

"It's me, Ningning." Xiang Yun's voice was low and hoarse, and he was exhausted.

The investigation by the crew involved several teams of investigators working around the clock. They might ask the same question a dozen times, and each time they had to clearly explain why they handled it that way and whether there was a better way to handle it at the time. For the crew, it was nothing short of mental torture.

The captain and first officer, in particular, kept asking him what the best course of action would be. Xiang Yun could only reply that their handling of the situation was the best solution.

Xiang Yun didn't often call her Ningning. It was only last time, when she coaxed him in bed to use a more intimate term of address, that Xiang Yun thought of calling her Ningning.

Xu Songning gripped her phone tightly, knowing he had been wronged. He had just gotten his phone back and was already calling her, Ningning, to comfort him. When would this man stop being so stubborn?

"Brother Yun, I'm fine, and so are your parents and sister. How about you?"

"I……"

Xiang Yun wanted to say he was fine, but when he heard Xu Songning's voice, it made him feel suffocated. He squatted in the corner and was finally allowed to contact his family. Without thinking, he called Xu Songning.

I'm not good.

Xu Songning covered her mouth, raised her head and blinked hard, forcing back her tears.

The two listened silently to each other's breathing for a minute.

Xiang Yun crushed the cigarette in his hand, crumpled it up, and until his fingers were stained with the smell of tobacco, he finally managed to speak, suppressing his emotions, "I'll be back soon. Where are you?"

"I'm at home, at my aunt and uncle's house." Xu Songning clutched the bedsheet tightly. Hearing that Xiang Yun was coming back, her heart soared, unable to find its footing. "When is 'soon'? How much longer until he comes back?"

"I don't know, the investigation is almost over. Okay, the call should end now, wait for me at home." Xiang Yun stood up, supporting his knees which had gone numb from squatting to recover.

"I'll wait for you, I'll wait for you!" Xu Songning gritted her teeth, trying her best to appear happy so as not to worry Xiang Yun.

The passenger leaned wearily against the wall. He had just called home to let his family know he was safe. His face was unshaven and his hair was a mess. "Brother Yun, this is really not good."

Xiang Yun wasn't in much better shape. His beard had grown quite a bit, with stubble on his chin and his hair hanging down, giving him a rather weathered and handsome look. "Let's go. After a few more rounds, we should release them."

"..."

When Xu Songning learned that Xiang Yun was coming back soon, he didn't tell Ms. Cui's family right away, so as not to disappoint them. After all, who would be in the mood to go to work if they heard that someone was coming back? Wouldn't they all have to wait at home?

Xiang Yun must be very upset to come back. Seeing his parents' worried faces, he still has to deal with them. It would be better to wait until Xiang Yun is really home before informing them.

Xu Songning kept this secret, and she was the only one who suffered. Whenever she heard the door open, she would think that Xiang Yun had come home. Several times she rushed out of the room, and Ms. Cui was a little worried when she saw her condition.

But Xu Songning couldn't say anything and could only wait anxiously at home.

It wasn't until daytime, when everyone had gone to work, that Xu Songning heard the door open again.

This time, it must be Xiang Yun!

A strong premonition prompted her to jump out of bed, open the bedroom door, and rush barefoot to the living room. Sure enough, standing in the doorway was the person she had been longing for.

"Brother Yun!"

Xu Songning rushed over and hugged Xiang Yun tightly, as if afraid that if she let go, she would wake up from her dream the next second.

"I haven't showered yet." Xiang Yun didn't dare to hug her.

Xu Songning didn't have as much of a germaphobia as him; she clung to him tightly, refusing to let go, "I don't care!"

She waited so long to finally bring back the person she had been longing for, and she would never let go of him no matter what!

Xiang Yun had originally planned to book a room and take a shower before returning, fearing that Xu Songning would see him in such a disheveled state. However, upon hearing her say this, he abandoned all his concerns and hugged her tightly.

"I miss you so much," Xiang Yun whispered, his voice hot and passionate, revealing his complete sincerity.

"I miss you so much, every minute, every second." Xu Songning closed his eyes, tears sliding down his cheeks and dripping into his collar, burning his heart.

The two of them didn't need to speak; their heartbeats throbbed close together in their chests, and that was enough.
