Chapter 212 is back.

Chapter 212 He's Back

"Are you hungry?" Xu Songning struggled out of his arms, cupped his face, and ran her fingers through his stubble. "You've lost weight."

"How could you lose weight so quickly? I'm not hungry. An investigation wouldn't mean we're not given food." Xiang Yun glanced down, noticing a pair of bare feet on the floor. "Why did you come out barefoot?"

Xiang Yun's voice was a little hoarse, overwhelmed by fatigue and exhaustion; he was now relying entirely on willpower to stay afloat.

"I came out in too much of a hurry." Xu Songning stomped on the floor. "It's okay, I'm not cold."

Xiang Yun put the things aside and picked up a new pair of slippers.

Xu Songning felt extremely sorry for him. She quickly put on her slippers, looked around Xiang Yun to make sure he was alright, and then let him go. "Brother Yun, go take a shower. I'll get you something to eat."

"No need to prepare anything, just wait for me in your room." Xiang Yun took her hand and led her to his room.

He hadn't been back for a long time, and there were some of Xu Songning's things in the room, which made the room feel more alive.

Xu Songning watched him take out the clothes and couldn't sit still any longer. "Then I'll go make you some orange juice."

"Okay," Xiang Yun replied.

Xu Songning quickly went downstairs. She lived here and would help Xiang's father with some basic kitchen chores. She knew exactly where the juicer was, just like she knew her own home.

She didn't take her phone; while the juicer was running, she leaned against the wall and picked the scallions that her father had prepared.

"bite."

The juicer has stopped working.

Xu Songning poured two glasses of orange juice and took them upstairs. Xiang Yun finished showering and sat on the edge of the bed, shirtless, drying his hair.

"Brother Yun, let me do it." Xu Songning put the orange juice on the table, took out a hairdryer, and helped him dry his hair.

Xiang Yun was exhausted. Xu Songning stood in front of him, and he bent down slightly, hugging Xu Songning's waist and resting his head on her shoulder.

This position made it inconvenient to blow-dry his hair, but Xu Songning didn't say anything. She just gently rubbed his hair and turned on the fan.

His hair dried quickly. After finishing his orange juice, he leaned back and covered his eyes with his hand to avoid the light coming in from the window.

"Do you want to sleep for a while?" Xu Songning touched his forehead tenderly.

"Hmm." Xiang Yun lifted one eyelid, then lowered it again.

With the heavy curtains drawn, the room immediately became pitch black.

Xu Songning changed into her pajamas, sat on the bed, found a comfortable position, and patted the spot next to her.

"Brother Yun, lie down here."

Xiang Yun shifted a few times and lay down next to Xu Songning, lying on his side and hugging her waist. He felt incredibly at ease smelling her scent.

Xu Songning sat quietly, stroking his hair with her fingers and gently massaging him.

"Sleep well, Yun-ge, I'll stay with you."

Xiang Yun was utterly exhausted. The intense interrogation over the past few days had kept him in a state of high concentration. Returning to his beloved's side, he was finally able to relax completely.

This is a place where he can find refuge.

Xiang Yun's breathing became heavy. Xu Songning sat down beside him, put her phone on silent, and held Xiang Yun's phone close to her, constantly checking for new messages.

After several hours, Xu Songning did not change his posture, but he was a little tired of sitting.

She shifted slightly, and the hands around her waist tightened even more. "Ningning..."

“I’m here, Yun-ge.” Xu Songning grasped his arm and whispered in his ear, “I’m here, don’t be afraid.”

Xiang Yun's brows remained furrowed, the dark clouds never dissipating.

In his sleep, he murmured in his sleep, sometimes meaningless words, sometimes airplane control instructions; he was too tense.

Xu Songning rubbed his temples, trying to make him relax a bit.

Xiang Yun grabbed her hand. She thought Xiang Yun had woken up and glanced at him nervously, only to find that his eyes were still closed. He simply pulled her hand closer and pressed it against his face.

Not knowing how long he would sleep, Xu Songning simply lay down as well and took a nap as well.

She hadn't slept well during the days Xiang Yun wasn't home, her dreams were intermittent, and now he was finally by her side.

She leaned in and placed a tender kiss on Xiang Yun's forehead. "Goodnight."

When Ms. Cui returned home, her eyes widened as she saw the flight case and the shoes she had taken off by the door. She asked Mr. Xiang, who was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, "The person is back?!"

Mr. Xiang unfolded the newspaper. "He should be back by now. We only have one pilot in our family."

Ms. Cui hurried upstairs, but Mr. Xiang exclaimed and quickly grabbed her, "What are you doing?"

“Go check on the children! You don’t care about anything at all!” Ms. Cui said anxiously.

Mr. Xiang shook his head and teased her with his eyes, "The two children are resting in their room, what are you going to do? Let them sleep a little longer."

"Oh dear, I forgot Songning was home. It's really inconvenient to go upstairs." Ms. Cui patted her forehead and wandered around downstairs. She was worried about her son, but there was no sound from upstairs. She quietly went upstairs to take a look. Her son's bedroom door was closed, so he must be resting.

"It's good that he's back." Ms. Cui breathed a sigh of relief, turned around and went into her study to work, not forgetting to remind Mr. Xiang, "Prepare some good food for our son to nourish him properly."

"Didn't you say you were going to cause him trouble?" Mr. Xiang smiled.

Ms. Cui glared at him, saying that she wouldn't actually cause trouble for her son. As long as he was born safely, that was enough. The child was grown up and no longer under his mother's control. If he could listen to Song Ning more, she would be thankful.

Ms. Cui called Cui Yuyue back from the law firm. The family prepared a sumptuous meal and waited for the two of them to come down for dinner.

They waited and waited, but there was no sound from their room.

"Can someone go up and check what's wrong? Why isn't he awake yet?" Ms. Cui frowned.

“It’s normal for young people to need to catch up on sleep. Let them sleep a little longer. Keep the food warm for now, no rush.” Mr. Xiang put the food back in the pot to keep it warm.

Cui Yuyue put her brother's flight case away and then waited expectantly for her brother and sister-in-law at the dining table.

An hour passed, and he still hadn't woken up.

"How long has she been asleep? She's still not awake?" Ms. Cui glanced at her watch countless times. "Cui Yuyue, go ask her."

Cui Yuyue never argued with her mother, and instead sent a message to her sister-in-law on her phone.

Sister-in-law, are you awake? Mom and Dad are waiting for you to eat.

Xu Songning's phone lit up, the light wasn't bright, but Xiang Yun was quite sensitive to light, so he rolled over and finally freed Xu Songning.

She had been awake for a while, but Xiang Yun showed no signs of waking up, so she lay in bed with him.

This was the first time in so long that she had stayed in bed with Xiang Yun. When he woke up, she was determined to tease him about it.

Xu Songning glanced at the time; it was almost eight o'clock. She was a little hungry. Xiang Yun was sleeping soundly, and she couldn't bear to wake him. She quietly got out of bed, opened the door, and slipped out.
