Chapter 224 Xiang Yun, the Barbecue Master

Chapter 224 Xiang Yun, the Barbecue Master

There were very few faces from China at this event. Xu Songning was very beautiful and distinctive, and they were quite interested in this girl from a mysterious Eastern country.

So, amidst the expectant gazes of the crowd, Xu Songning confidently stepped onto the stage.

"Hi everyone, I am a civil aviation worker from Shanghai, China."

"That's so cool, is he the captain?"

"She's so pretty, she might be a flight attendant."

"Contrary to what you might think, I'm an air traffic controller, which, simply put, means someone who directs planes to take off and land," Xu Songning explained with a smile.

The tourists in the audience looked on with sudden realization. They were focused on Xu Songning, so naturally they wouldn't miss the man beside her. "And what about your partner?"

“He’s a pilot. We’re here to relax and travel. I hope he enjoys every second of his time here, and I hope he can come back to me soon,” Xu Songning said, her gaze falling on the back of the crowd.

Xiang Yun, holding two meat skewers, stood at the back of the crowd, looking at his dazzling girlfriend.

Every word she uttered reached his ears through the speaker; others couldn't understand its meaning, but he could.

Xu Songning hopes he will return to her side soon, hoping he will rejoin the ranks of pilots and meet her again on the VHF.

Xu Songning stepped down from the stage, winning applause from strangers.

In places where you have no relatives or friends, strangers seem to be able to resonate with each other's words and are more willing to open their hearts to accept everyone.

Xu Songning took the barbecue and asked him with a smile, "Brother Yun, when are you coming back to my side?"

"Isn't it right here now?" Xiang Yun wiped a bit of ash from her face, not noticing the charcoal he had rubbed off the inside of his thumb, leaving a black mark on her face.

He smiled, looked down, took out a clean tissue, and wiped her face clean.

"Why did you take so long? Did you grill it yourself?" Xu Songning took a bite of beef, which burned her tongue.

"It really was me who grilled it. The foreigner's grilling skills are terrible." Xiang Yun shrugged. He went over to ask the other person if he could buy two skewers of grilled meat. The other person said it was free, but it was his first time grilling meat and he didn't control the heat well, so he just grilled it into a pile of charcoal.

Xiang Yun offered to help, so he grilled a row of skewers, took two for himself, and the foreigner praised his cooking skills.

Xu Songning laughed and leaned against Xiang Yun, "Brother Yun, your cooking skills are really good. Although they are still a little inferior to Uncle's, they taste much better than my cooking."

"Being better than you, does that make you really that good?" Xiang Yun couldn't help but chuckle.

Xu Songning nodded in agreement, "Of course, if we take Sister Xu as a unit, you are at least five Sister Xus."

The grilled meat in her hand wasn't so hot anymore. She slowly finished a beef skewer and looked at Xiang Yun with lingering satisfaction, "Brother Yun, are you still hungry?"

"You can't eat too much at night," Xiang Yun said helplessly.

“But the barbecue you make is really delicious,” Xu Songning emphasized, his eyes firm.

Xiang Yun couldn't refuse her, so he could only ask her, "Have another one."

“Okay!” Xu Songning replied.

The two returned to the barbecue stall. The people grilling meat recognized Xiang Yun and greeted them warmly when they saw him coming over, "Hey, want some more barbecue? We've grilled some new skewers."

The meat on the skewer was still pinkish with blood. Xu Songning considered herself to have a Chinese palate, and she truly couldn't accept this bloody beef.

It's unclear how Xiang Yun negotiated with the other party, but after a few words, the other party readily handed over the barbecue stall to Xiang Yun and started skewering meat on the side.

Xu Songning occasionally helped by handing over seasonings, and soon the aroma of the roasted meat attracted the people gathered around the campfire.

So many people were staring at it expectantly, asking every now and then if it tasted good, how it was baked, and what seasonings made it smell so good...

Xu Songning wanted to laugh; it seemed Chef Xiang would be working overtime grilling meat tonight.

She held up the camera and fiddled with it. In the lens, Xiang Yun was focused on grilling meat, wearing clothes that were very different from his usual style. His sunglasses were hanging on his collar. When he bent over slightly, the sunglasses hung down from his collar, revealing a muscular chest.

Xu Songning snapped a few photos and then noticed something was wrong.

She darted over to Xiang Yun's side. Xiang Yun, assuming she wanted some kebabs, casually said, "Wait a minute, the next round will be even better."

“Buttons.” Xu Songning poked his waist.

"Buttons?" Xiang Yun glanced down. The sea breeze had blown open the two buttons on his chest, which he hadn't fastened properly. His sunglasses were hanging down, and his collar was pulled wide open. He asked knowingly, "What's wrong?"

Xu Songning gave him a cool look, and Xiang Yun showed him his greasy hands, "You help me."

"Hmph." Xu Songning took off his sunglasses and hung them on the neck strap of the camera, then reached out to help him fasten the buttons, which drew cheers from the people around them.

"You can continue being the barbecue chef!" Xu Songning buttoned up her shirt. If there was one more button, she would button it all the way up to his Adam's apple, because he had such a smug smile on his face.

Thinking of Xiang Yun's smile just now, Xu Songning couldn't help but smile as well, picked up her camera, and took many more photos.

Xiang Yun was working as a barbecue chef, and she walked around with her camera, taking pictures of everyone.

Everyone openly displayed their happiness, striking exaggerated poses and bringing their family or newly acquainted friends along for the photos.

Xu Songning plans to develop all the photos and put them in an album when she gets back; this time, she really needs to prepare a new album.

Xiang Yun finally finished his work because all the meat skewers he brought were grilled. The person who lent him the barbecue equipment felt quite bad for keeping Xiang Yun busy for so long.

As Xiang Yun was about to leave with the two skewers, the child, who had just finished eating the skewers and hadn't even wiped his mouth yet, looked at the skewers in his hand and asked, "Brother, are there any more?"

"there is none left."

"Brother is lying, you clearly still have some in your hand."

"This one is for my brother's girlfriend," Xiang Yun said patiently.

The child's eyes darted around, a hint of regret in them. "It belongs to the pretty older sister, so I don't want it."

Xiang Yun: "..."

Here, have a skewer.

Xiang Yun originally only planned to give Xu Songning one more skewer, in case she had a stomachache at night; the other skewer was for himself.

"Thank you, brother!"

Before the child could even touch the skewer, the woman next to him scooped him up, saying, "Thank you, but he's already had three tonight, he can't have any more."

"I can still eat, waaaaaah!" The child pretended to cry, and the parent quickly picked him up and took him away, looking apologetic.

When Xiang Yun sat down with two skewers, Xu Songning leaned over and smelled him. "Wow, Brother Yun, you smell so good! You've been roasted by spices!"

"Do you still want to eat? If not, I'll throw it away." Xiang Yun said expressionlessly, holding up the meat skewer.

"Yes, yes, yes!" Xu Songning pounced on him, and Xiang Yun held her waist and handed her the meat skewers.

Xu Songning ate one with satisfaction, and Xiang Yun, not wanting her to be tempted by a second one, ate it at the same time as her. "If you want more, I'll bake one for you when we get back to China."

"It's a deal!"
