Chapter 240 First Snow

Chapter 240 First Snow

Xu Songning hurriedly took off the ring, put it back where it was, and pushed the box back to its original position as well.

She opened the cabinet opposite her, pretending to be looking for something.

"Songning, did you find it?" Xiang Yun asked, carrying the things and panting heavily, as if he had run back.

Are you afraid she'll find the ring?

Xu Songning pretended to be clueless, "I couldn't find it, it's not in this cabinet."

Xiang Yun breathed a sigh of relief. Now was not the right time to show her the ring; he wanted to wait a bit longer.

"It's alright, I'll come find it. Go wash the vegetables."

Xu Songning nodded calmly and obediently washed vegetables in the kitchen. When Xiang Yun returned, he had a packet of hot pot base in his hand, and it seemed that he hadn't noticed that she had touched anything there.

The hot pot meal warmed everyone up, and Xu Songning kept putting food on Xiang Yun's plate. Xiang Yun pressed down on his chopsticks and said, "Are you trying to fatten me up?"

“It’s okay to be a little chubby, it’s so comfortable to hug,” Xu Songning said.

"Then don't ask where your abs went later," Xiang Yun said coolly.

Xu Songning immediately put away his chopsticks. "You should eat some protein. It's okay if you eat less of the other things."

After finishing their hotpot, Xu Songning insisted on going for a walk. It was such a cold day, and Xiang Yun tried to stop her, but she was unusually excited today, so he let her have her way, dressed her in thicker clothes, and took her for a walk downstairs in the neighborhood.

The cold wind outside felt like knives on her face. Xu Songning buried her face in her scarf, hiding behind Xiang Yun, her fingers slipping into his pocket, and holding his hand.

Cold snowflakes landed on her face, and she reached out to catch them. "It's snowing?"

It doesn't snow often in Shanghai, but under the lights at night, snowflakes fluttered all over the sky.

Xiang Yun helped her put her hat on, saying, "It looks like it's snowing."

Xu Songning shook his head, knocked off his hat, and excitedly pulled him to stand under the lamp.

The warm yellow light shone on them, and snowflakes and sleet drifted down. She tilted her head back, opened her arms, and let the cold snow fall on her face and hands.

"So beautiful." Xu Songning twirled around under the lights.

Xiang Yun watched her spin in the snow quietly, as if he were seeing Lily across time and space, wearing a white sheep mask and swaying in a fishtail skirt on the dance floor.

He pretended not to see the box that had been moved, and he was willing to wait for Xu Songning to come to his side.

In the brief moment he was stunned, Xu Songning pounced on him and wrapped her arms around him.

Snowflakes landed on his long eyelashes. Xu Songning gently pinched them, and the snowflakes immediately melted on her fingertips, sliding down Xiang Yun's high nose bridge.

She tiptoed and kissed away the snowflake.

The howling wind whipped up snowflakes, which fell all over her head. Xu Songning looked up at him, gradually becoming mesmerized.

"Shall we go back?" Xiang Yun hugged her indulgently, afraid that she would catch a cold.

"Brother Yun, have you ever heard this saying?"

"What did you say?"

"It's a bit cheesy, come closer."

Xiang Yun lowered his head, the cool woody scent close to him, and Xu Songning hooked her arm around his neck and whispered in his ear.

"If we are caught in the snow together in the future, it will be a testament to growing old together."

Xu Songning spoke slowly, and the hot breath he exhaled burned half of his cheek.

Xiang Yun suddenly looked up, and the intense emotions that surged up almost overwhelmed him in an instant. He closed his eyes briefly to suppress his emotions and hugged the person in front of him even tighter.

"We still have many winters ahead of us."

"Of course, we will always be together."

Xu Songning and he held hands tightly, their hearts beating in unison.

While getting soaked in the snow was certainly romantic, after the romance, Xu Songning was forced to drink two bowls of ginger soup and take a hot bath before being tucked into bed.

Undeterred by her excitement, she took a picture of the snowy scene outside the window and posted it on her WeChat Moments with the caption: First snow.

Xiang Yun was the first to give a thumbs up. When he got back into bed, he was still warm. Xu Songning loved to sleep with him in her arms, especially in winter.

"Why are you so excited today? What did you eat?" Xiang Yun forced her to put down her phone and pressed her down to lie down.

Xu Songning recalled the feeling of wearing the ring on her finger and unconsciously touched her empty middle finger. "I ate a pistachio."

"Why didn't you leave me any?" Xiang Yun said casually.

"Here, have a taste." Xu Songning leaned over and kissed the corner of his lips.

Xiang Yun gave her a perfunctory reply, "Hmm, it's quite sweet, like honey, not like pistachios."

Xu Songning laughed heartily as she was held in someone's arms, her fingers restlessly touching Xiang Yun's hand.

Yun-ge ordered a ring for himself, but did he order one for himself? Shouldn't the rings be a pair? If they are a pair, where is his?

Xu Songning touched his fingers, her excitement gradually subsiding. When was Xiang Yun going to give it to her?

She thought that if her marriage partner was Xiang Yun, then it might not be unacceptable for her.

This time, Xiang Yun fell asleep before her. Xu Songning wanted to secretly measure Xiang Yun's finger size with something. After all, he had a ring custom-made, and regardless of whether he had prepared one for himself or not, she should prepare one for him as well.

But Xiang Yun held her very tightly, her entire back was embedded in his embrace, and she couldn't reach anything that was easy for her to grab.

So she pulled out a strand of hair, wrapped it around Xiang Yun's finger, tied it into a bow, and slowly pushed it down, hiding it under the pillow.

Sleep peacefully.

Xiang Yun has been getting up early these past few days. No one wakes her up; she relies entirely on her alarm clock.

After getting up, she pinched the hair under her pillow, took the measurements, and prepared to have someone make a custom-made one. After thinking it over carefully, she realized that Cui Yuyue's friend was in the design industry and could make brooches and necklaces, so she figured she could probably make rings too.

So, Xu Songning sent the ring size and requirements to Cui Yuyue, and secretly discussed it with her on the phone, "Little sister, help me find your friend to customize a ring. The price is negotiable, but you can't tell Brother Yun, okay?"

Cui Yuyue gripped the table tightly in the law firm. Holy crap! Her brother and sister-in-law had both come to her to order custom rings. What did that mean?! What did that mean?! Their relationship was definitely going to be interesting!

Mom was always worried that her brother, being such a quiet person, would never be able to marry his wife. Little did she know that her brother and sister-in-law had already secretly exchanged rings.

Unfortunately, she, who knew so much about this, couldn't tell anyone.

"Ah, what kind of ring do you want to order? And who is it for?" Cui Yuyue suppressed her instinct to scream.

Xu Songning chuckled, "Who else could I give it to? You little rascal, can you hurry? A month?"

"A month's supply is enough, don't worry, I'm very tight-lipped," Cui Yuyue assured her.

Xu Songning was satisfied with the deposit and sent the money over, also sending a red envelope to his sister.

The communication regarding the ring customization went smoothly, probably because of Cui Yuyue's role as the middleman; they agreed to expedite the process for her.

Xu Songning wasn't in a rush; he needed to ensure quality. The other party readily agreed, and after a week of communication, they finalized the ring design and officially started production.
