Chapter 27 If you mention Xiang Yun, don't blame me for mentioning Qin You.
Xu Songning smiled without saying a word, touched the wall, and saw that the beluga whale had already swum far away, leaving only the dark blue water.
The shutter clicked again, and Xu Songning turned around, tilting her head to look at the camera. Xu Songning's face is a fashion item; every time Zhou Qiao takes a picture of her, there's no need to worry about getting a bad shot.
"A beluga whale is coming! Don't move!" Zhou Qiao shouted quickly.
Xu Songning quieted down, but didn't forget to ask, "Which beluga whale came over?"
"..." Zhou Qiao couldn't recognize which whale it was. She took a quick photo when the beluga whale opened its mouth wide above Xu Songning's head. "It's probably...it's probably Nini?"
Upon hearing this, Xu Songning turned around and saw the big head so close to her. Her eyes lit up and she laughed, "It really is Nini."
As if she remembered her, Nini rolled around in the water and blew a bubble ring at her.
"So cute." Xu Songning was completely charmed; she had no resistance to adorable animals. "I really want to have one."
“That idea is too dangerous. But don’t you really think that beluga whales look a bit like airplanes?” Zhou Qiao stared at Nini’s big face.
"..." Xu Songning's eyelids twitched. "Does it really look like it?"
"No, no, hahaha, it really looks just like it!" Zhou Qiao laughed so hard she could barely stand. She squatted down, still holding the camera, and kept laughing.
Xu Songning was infected by her laughter and started to laugh too. Nini rolled around in the water and swam away happily.
The aquarium was about to close, so the two packed their things and found a place to have dinner.
After dinner, the two huddled together to choose photos.
"Send them both to me. You always take great photos, there's no need to pick and choose." Xu Songning looked at the two photos being examined over and over, but she couldn't find any differences between them.
Zhou Qiao frowned. "Can't you see that the lighting and angles in these two photos are different?"
Xu Songning glanced at them and said, "I can tell, they're all equally beautiful. Does Qiaoqiao's skill even need to be questioned?"
"That's true." Zhou Qiao chuckled as she exported the photos, packaged them, and sent them to Xu Songning's email. Then, she leaned in mischievously and asked, "You really don't need me to come keep you company tonight?"
Xu Songning held the phone in one hand and gently pushed her face away with the other, "No need, I..."
“You have Captain Xiang! I get it, you guy who values women over friends, sigh~” Zhou Qiao sighed deliberately, putting away her precious camera. Speaking of which, she bought this camera when she was with Qin You. When Qin You performed, she would take pictures of him from the audience, but she kept the photos to herself and never posted them on any social media, not even letting Qin You see them.
"If you keep bringing up Xiang Yun, I'm going to bring up Qin You instead," Xu Songning said casually.
This hit Zhou Qiao's weak spot. She snorted, "Fine, fine, you lose. Go home! I need to talk to you at the bar."
The two said goodbye at the restaurant entrance. Xu Songning drove home and checked the time when he parked in the underground garage: 10:20.
"Quack".
She picked up her phone; it was a message from Xiang Yun.
"We've landed."
Are you asleep?
"No, I'll wait for you to come back," Xu Songning replied.
There were people walking their dogs and playing with their cats in the neighborhood. Xu Songning didn't go straight home. Instead, she took a slow walk along the neighborhood path to digest her food.
They happened to run into the security guard from that day. The guard recognized Xu Songning and raised his hand to greet him.
"Miss Xu, why haven't you gone home yet?"
"Walking will help with digestion," Xu Songning said, stopping in his tracks.
"Alright, don't worry about last night. The lights at the entrance have been replaced, more security cameras have been installed, and the card-swiping system for visitors is now more strictly enforced. The previous oversight won't happen again." The security guard wiped his sweat, probably after finishing his patrol.
"Thank you for your hard work." Xu Songning smiled, and the security guard waved back with a generous smile and walked in the opposite direction.
Xu Songning got tired of walking, so he sat down on a chair and took out his phone to check messages.
Suddenly, a furry thing bumped into her calf.
She lowered her eyes, and there was a calico cat next to her legs. Its fur was a little dirty. After bumping into her, it lay down on the spot to pretend to be injured and simply stopped moving.
"Little guy, why are you trying to scam me?" Xu Songning picked up the cat. The kitten bared its teeth and struggled a few times, but couldn't break free. It simply lay down like a puddle of water and melted in her hands.
The calico cat spread its soft belly, lying on its back with its four paws in the air. One of its paws was crooked in an awkward position. Xu Songning carefully placed it on her knees and brushed away the fallen leaves clinging to that paw.
"Are you hurt, little kitten?" Xu Songning gently touched its leg, and the kitten immediately let out a pitiful whimper and started wriggling on her lap.
"Good boy, don't move around. I'll take you to your owner, okay?" Xu Songning stroked its neck but couldn't find the nameplate. There was a group of people walking cats and dogs where they had just passed by; it probably ran out from there.
Xu Songning carefully brushed the fallen leaves off Sanhua and held the cat in her arms like a child. Sanhua obediently lay in her arms, its paws resting on her body. Its bright eyes no longer darted around, but just looked at her quietly, which softened Xu Songning's heart.
"Whose cat are you?" Xu Songning's voice softened. If someone familiar with her heard this, they would definitely think she was being affectionate, a behavior that was not typical of Xu Songning.
The three-colored cat meowed a few times, as if in response to her.
"Is it lost? Or abandoned?" Xu Songning gently patted its back and led it to the place that had been bustling just moments before.
Most of the people had already left, with only one or two people still there diligently guarding their masters who refused to return home.
Seeing Xu Songning walk over carrying the cat, a girl exclaimed happily, "Sister, your calico cat is of such good quality!"
“I just found it next to Building 5. Did you hear anyone looking for a cat while you were here?” Xu Songning showed her the calico cat in her arms. The calico cat was lying listlessly, without any energy, and did not react to the two girls who were petting it.
“I haven’t heard of anyone losing a cat, but can I take a picture and post it in our cat and dog walking group? Maybe someone will recognize it,” the girl suggested. After getting Xu Songning’s permission, she took a picture of the calico cat and also noticed its leg problems.
"Are you hurt?" The girl gently touched Sanhua's head with concern.
"Yes, is there a pet hospital nearby? I'll take it to see a doctor." Xu Songning had never owned a pet before, so naturally she didn't know if there was a pet hospital nearby.
"Yes! Sister, let me add you on WeChat and send you my location. It's nearby, but it's about to close, so you'd better hurry." The girl scanned the QR code to add her and sent an address. "Mention my dog's name, and you can get a discount! I'm a regular customer, haha, my dog's name is Snowflake!"
Xu Songning smiled and nodded, "It's a very cute name."
"Snowflake, a pretty lady complimented your beauty! Come and say hello!" The girl whistled, and a black and white Border Collie emerged from the bushes, darted to the girl's side, and circled around Xu Songning when it saw her. The calico dog became restless in her arms, baring its teeth.
Xu Songning protected the calico, then reached out to pat the Border Collie's head and called out, "Snowflake."
Upon hearing its name, Xuehua happily pounced on it. A Border Collie straightened up and stood up, almost reaching Xu Songning's chest. It suddenly pounced on Xu Songning's waist. Xu Songning didn't react in time, staggered, and fell backward.
