Chapter 68 Willing to pluck the moon for her

Chapter 68 Willing to pluck the moon for her

"Your girlfriend drove off, what's wrong? Missing my sports car? Did you have a blast driving it last time? Want to buy one?" Gu Xing asked.

"Why would I buy a sports car? Unlike you two, I don't use sports cars as commuter cars." Xiang Yun rubbed his temples.

Gu Xing chuckled, "If your partner likes it, what can you do but spoil her? Once you have a partner, you'll understand. Even if she wants the stars and the moon, you'll have to find a way to get them for her, and do it willingly."

"drop."

A message notification sounded on my phone.

Xiang Yun took out his phone and saw a message from Xu Songning.

"Brother Yun, have you all left? When you come back, could you bring me some cat food and cat treats? My calico cat is a bit picky and quite mischievous."

A video popped up, and he clicked on it.

The three-flowered cat meowed at the camera, its body held by a pair of slender, white hands, who adjusted the camera's position. The background audio was Xu Songning's voice, played through the phone, sounding somewhat languid.

"Brother Yun, look at it, it's so picky about food. It doesn't want to eat cat food at night. Sanhua, quickly tell your brother that you're hungry and ask him to bring some food home."

"Oh? Xu Songning?" Gu Xing heard the noise and leaned over to look at his phone, wanting to see what the other side had sent. But as soon as he saw the phone screen, Xiang Yun pressed his head down and pushed him back to where he was.

He replied, "Okay."

Xiang Yun called out, "Master, please turn around. I need to go to the pet store."

"A pet shop? Isn't that in the opposite direction? It's quite far." Gu Xing asked with a half-smile.

"Yes, something's up."

"Wow, something's up? What's up? You don't own a cat, do you? Is it because of Xu Songning's calico?" Gu Xing sneered.

Xiang Yun, too lazy to look at his gossipy face, kept her eyes slightly closed and said, "You're meddling too much."

Gu Xing scoffed. Even without him saying it, everyone knew this guy had picked up the three-flowered girl for Xu Songning. It seemed his brother had really messed up this time; he'd never seen him care about anyone this much before.

The car stopped in front of the pet store, and Xiang Yun got out to choose cat food. She picked out several popular flavors recommended by the salesperson, as well as a few brands that she liked for hot pot and meatballs. For snacks, she followed the salesperson's recommendation and picked out a large bag.

As he boarded the car with his belongings, he was met with another barrage of questions from Gu Xing. He ignored them, treating it as if the person next to him was putting on a one-man show.

The designated driver first dropped Xiang Yun off at her apartment complex. It was quite late, and the complex was so quiet that you could hear the rustling of leaves in the wind.

He didn't drink much, but the wind made him a little tipsy. He still walked steadily, but felt empty inside. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the lonely wind that was too strong, or maybe it was the image of a moth drawn to a flame that made him feel sentimental.

Living alone can indeed be a bit boring.

My parents' careers are about to shift to Shanghai, and they will settle down there. My younger sister will also come to Shanghai after graduation. I guess I'll feel a stronger sense of belonging to Shanghai then.

As for now, he still feels like the kind of bird without feet that Xu Songning described, with nowhere to land and Shanghai just a temporary foothold.

This strange melancholy persisted until he knocked on Xu Songning's door.

As soon as the door opened, Xu Songning's fragrance wafted into his nostrils, filling the center of his mind.

So he looked up and gazed at her.

Xu Songning was wearing home clothes, with a light sheen of sweat on her forehead. Her hair was loose over her shoulders, and her dark, silky hair swayed gently with her movements.

"Hey! Yun-ge, what are you spacing out for?" Xu Songning's voice was warm and slightly breathless, as if he had just been doing some kind of exercise, which temporarily dispelled the strange thoughts in Xiang Yun's mind.

Xiang Yun wanted to say, "I've brought you some cat food."

Before he could even open his mouth, a loud "thump" suddenly came from inside the room, followed by the sound of cats running around everywhere.

"Sanhua!" Xu Songning broke down in a rare moment of despair. Before opening the door, she was still playing hide-and-seek with Sanhua.

She tossed her hair over her shoulder and, while reaching for Sanhua, called out to Xiang Yun, "Brother Yun, why don't you change your shoes and come in? Sanhua's been running around like crazy tonight, I'll go catch it first."

Upon hearing this, Xiang Yun silently changed into his own shoes, placed a large bag of things at his feet, rolled up his sleeves, and joined the cat-catching team.

Sanhua has really gone crazy.

It spun around the house like a top, rolling over every place without obstacles. Where there were obstacles, it tried to knock them away. The small stools it knocked away spun on the ground, and the table legs it couldn't knock away made it dizzy.

With lightning speed, Xiang Yun grabbed Sanhua by the neck, and instantly the cat became docile, its round eyes looking innocently at the two of them.

After taking a shower, Xu Songning started scratching the cat again. She was covered in a light sweat and had a warm, pleasant fragrance that didn't smell like sweat but rather like her natural body scent.

She breathed a sigh of relief and wiped her sweat with a tissue. "Brother Yun, if you had come any later, I would have been exhausted from catching the cat in a second."

"Wouldn't the Civil Aviation Administration have lost an excellent approach pilot?" Xiang Yun held the three-flowered bird in his arms to prevent it from struggling.

"Hahaha, that's for sure." Xu Songning wiped away her sweat, looked at Xiang Yun, who was holding a cat, and saw the muscles on his arms bulging and defined. The muscles were not exaggerated at all; they were the thin muscles that she liked. She narrowed her eyes slightly.

Xiang Yun noticed the intense gazes but thought it was his imagination. When he looked over, Xu Songning had already looked away.

He stroked the cat's head, his long, strong fingers appearing and disappearing in the silky, soft fur. "Is Sanhua hungry?"

"I guess it's because I put a bowl of cat food out for it last night, and it only ate one bite and then stopped eating," Xu Songning sighed.

She stepped forward and reached out to touch the restless Sanhua. The two were very close. Xu Songning brushed her hair back, revealing her fair and slender neck. The first button of her pajamas was not fastened, and a delicate collarbone was faintly visible under her movement, like a small hook, attracting the attention of those around her.

Her neck was long and fair, with elegant lines extending from her collarbone to her chin. From Xiang Yun's angle, one could see her smooth face shape, fluttering eyelashes, and pale pink lips with a distinct upper lip peak that made one want to take a bite.

"I'll go get the cat food," Xiang Yun said in a low voice.

“Okay.” Xu Songning looked up at him and smiled, her brows relaxed, like willow branches in March.

She kept Xiang Yun's reaction in mind. When she got close to him, he would secretly feel shy, but he wouldn't show it on his face.

As Xiang Yun held the cat and reached into the bag, the three-colored cat's four legs moved around in his arms like it was paddling.

"Let me take it, Yun-ge, you hold Sanhua tight." Xu Songning pressed Sanhua into his arms, her fingers touching Xiang Yun's chest, her fingertips burning hot. She deliberately traced a line with her fingers for a while, then immediately pulled away, so that no one would think she did it on purpose.

Xiang Yun's eyes darkened as he stared at Xu Songning, who was deliberately teasing him. She was humming a song, clearly in a good mood, and asked him while holding two cans of food, "Brother Yun, which one do you think is better?"

His teeth were itchy, and he wanted to bite the woman.
