Chapter 69 You've worked hard, baby.

Chapter 69 You've worked so hard, baby.

In the end, they still couldn't choose between the two cat food options because Sanhua was too anxious. She wanted to jump out of Xiang Yun's arms and onto Xu Songning's face to pry open the cat food can with her paws.

Xu Songning simply opened two and let it choose, lest the calico cat have another fit of madness, which she couldn't bear another round of torment.

The canned food was on the balcony. As soon as Xiang Yun opened his arms, Sanhua darted out, nearly knocking a can of food off its head, and started eating.

"So hungry? Then why won't you eat cat food no matter what?" Xu Songning asked, his brows furrowing in confusion.

Xiang Yun went over and took a look. The bowl that used to hold cat food now contained water, and the water bowl contained cat food. He squatted down and touched the bottom of the bowl; the cat food was a little damp.

"It might not be used to you switching the water and food bowls."

Xu Songning also squatted down and sighed, "I accidentally poured out the wrong bowl, thinking it would be fine, but it actually remembered its own bowl? And it even went on a hunger strike because of it."

"Didn't you drink the water either?" Xiang Yun looked at the bowl next to him. Sure enough, the water level was high, and there was no sign of anyone drinking it.

“Yes, Sanhua is so principled.” Xu Songning rested his chin on his hand, never expecting that this whole farce was because he had mixed up the water bowl and the cat food bowl. He was a little embarrassed. If Xiang Yun hadn’t come over, Sanhua would probably have made a fuss again tomorrow.

Xiang Yun poured the cat food into the trash can, washed it, filled a bowl with fresh water, and placed it next to the cat food can.

Sanhua immediately shifted her target and licked a few mouthfuls of water.

"You've really worked hard, baby." Xu Songning stroked Sanhua's back. With food and drink, Sanhua no longer resisted her and obediently let her stroke her.

“If it weren’t for your brother coming, you would have gone hungry for another day.” Xu Songning smiled and looked up at him.

Xiang Yun raised an eyebrow. Hearing that "brother," a slight itch welled up in his heart. Although he knew what she meant, he still curled his lips into a smile.

"What are you laughing at? Did you think of something funny?" Xu Songning asked deliberately, thinking to himself, men really can't resist being called "brother".

"Hmm, I remember someone putting the cat's water bowl and food bowl upside down, and as a result, the cat went on a hunger strike, and she couldn't catch the cat," Xiang Yun said seriously.

Xu Songning glared at him, then smiled helplessly, "Alright, but don't tell anyone, Sister Xu cares about her reputation."

"good."

Xiang Yun rested for a while, glanced at the time, and realized it was getting late. He stood up and said, "I'll head back now."

"Okay, I'll walk you home." Although she said she would walk him home, they were only separated by a corridor, just a few steps away.

Xiang Yun walked ahead, and Xu Songning, wearing slippers, was about to follow.

When she sits on the sofa, she habitually crosses her feet and places them on the ground. When she sits with her legs crossed, her slippers are facing the opposite direction.

The left foot found the right shoe, and the right foot found the left shoe.

Before she could take two steps, Sanhua darted over again and crashed into her heel.

"Why--"

Afraid of stepping on the cat, Xu Songning slipped on her slippers and lunged forward.

The two were standing close together. When Xiang Yun heard the noise, she turned around and bumped into the man's arms. Her nose stung, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.

Xiang Yun reached out and made a gesture to support her, which, due to the height difference between the two, seemed to be holding her in his arms.

"Are you alright?" Xiang Yun looked down at her and saw her covering her face with her hands, groaning in pain. He felt a pang of anxiety. Could she have been injured?

"I bumped my nose." Xu Songning felt a soreness in her teeth as she spoke. She didn't want to cry at all, but when her nose was bumped, it triggered a sour switch, as if lemon juice was swirling in her eyes and nasal cavity.

Xiang Yun gently pushed one of her hands away, but Xu Songning covered her nose with her other hand to prevent him from seeing. Tears streamed down her face as she looked up, her bright eyes brimming with tears that were about to overflow.

He felt a pang of heartache, so he tore off a piece of paper and pressed it against the edge of her eyes. Xu Songning cooperated by closing her eyes and squeezing out the tears.

After wiping it clean, she felt much better, but her nose still felt sore.

She muttered, "Did he break his nose?"

"How could that be? My pectoral muscles are soft too," Xiang Yun said seriously.

Xu Songning couldn't help but chuckle. She had originally intended to tease Xiang Yun and make him feel like he was being stared at so intently, but his comment that his pectoral muscles were soft reminded her of the time she touched his abs in the car.

"it hurts."

"Let me take a look for you," Xiang Yun said patiently.

"No, I want to see it myself. If you turn around, what if you bump your nose and break it? That would look terrible."

"If that happens, I will take responsibility."

Xu Songning placed her other hand on his arm, her mind wandering as she scratched at the muscular muscles beneath his thin clothing. "How do you mean by taking responsibility? Like marrying into his family?"

"Stop fooling around, take a look at your nose." Xiang Yun chuckled.

Hey, Yun-ge is so easily teased, why is he so serious? It's quite different from Mr. X's wild and energetic performance.

Xu Songning, barefoot, changed back into her slippers and ran to the sink to look in the mirror.

Her fair face was reflected in the mirror, the tip of her nose slightly red. She reached out and pinched the bridge of her nose; there was no pain, so it wasn't a big problem. The initial intense soreness had passed, and she felt much better now.

"How is it?" Xiang Yun asked from the living room. Seeing how concerned she was about whether he would see her nose, he didn't go over, afraid of upsetting her.

Xu Songning sat back on the sofa and gently rubbed her nose. Apart from being a little red, there was nothing else wrong. "Ah, it's nothing. It's just my nose."

Seeing that she was no longer covering her nose, Xiang Yun leaned closer to observe her more closely.

The two were very close, their breaths mingling.

Xu Songning's eyes widened suddenly as a handsome face struck her face, so close at that. She blinked, her good eyesight allowing her to clearly see Xiang Yun's distinct eyelashes, his high nose bridge, and the faint fragrance of his hair wafting into her nostrils, mixed with the smell of alcohol.

She never liked the smell of drunkards, but Xiang Yun hadn't drunk much, so he only had a slight smell of alcohol on him, which wasn't unpleasant.

What a strange fragrance! I've never smelled this on anyone else before; it's like a scent emanating from their body.

Her gaze slid down from the high, straight nose, and she suddenly remembered a popular saying online: a man with a high, straight nose means he's... well, you know... strong.

"It seems like nothing's wrong, Xu Songning. She can't stage an accident anymore." Xiang Yun said, his gaze sliding up from her nose, and their eyes met. In the quiet air, an enchanting atmosphere spread.

"bite--"

A faint sound arose.

Normally, Xu Songning would recognize the sound of the smart door lock opening in a second.

But at that moment, she was already captivated by another person's gaze, and by the time her mind sluggishly came to its senses, the door had already opened.

"Sweetie, Mommy's home!"

Xu Songning: "!!!"

Xiang Yun: "".
