Chapter 30

Chapter 30

In the end, the prince and the prince lived happily ever after in their castle...

The premise is that their mother didn't find out.

"You two little brats are really something! You didn't even tell your parents about such an important thing as buying a house!"

As usual, my mom was sitting on the sofa after breakfast, snacking and scrolling through her phone. I don't know what she saw, but she yelled at the two of us who were slowly eating.

If it weren't for her brother, Su Yu would turn on the phone with one click, her eyes darting around.

“Mom, we’re all adults now. Yu Yu and I earned quite a bit of money working during this winter break. Besides, you’ve seen that I can even get advertising jobs online.”

Su Yu spoke in a gentle tone, and her mother seemed to be listening attentively, but without me saying anything, she definitely wasn't taking it in.

"Oh, you're all adults now, adults..."

"Adult? What do you mean 'adult'? In your father's and my eyes, you're still a child!"

I wanted to get up and argue, but I felt a force pressing me down on my thigh. I looked at Su Yu and saw the word "endure" in his eyes.

In short, Su Yu briefly explained to the two adults why we needed to move out, and then said she would take me to the library to study, so I could be considered to have successfully escaped.

"Phew... Bro, when are we going to look at houses?"

"I've already made arrangements with them next week."

The heavy schoolbag hung on my shoulder; I couldn't believe Su Yu really wanted to take me to study.

The subway took only a few stops to get to my destination. A gust of cold wind blew from my collar into my hem, making me shiver.

Su Yu stood at the subway exit, held my right hand with both hands, and breathed on it to warm it. It felt so good.

"Your right hand can't get cold, or you won't be able to write later."

"..."

The library has four floors. As soon as the glass doors and automatic doors opened, the aroma of bread from the bakery wafted out, followed by a rich coffee scent.

The soft chairs and square table—my brother has such refined tastes, choosing such an elegant and delicious place.

Just as I was about to take a step to choose my lucky spot, Su Yu grabbed my backpack strap from behind and pulled me forward.

It was rare to see someone so strong that he could fight off an adult male Su Yu. He gripped the strap and turned me to face forward, and we went up the spiral staircase together.

The walls were made up of thousands of books, and I pulled out a Japanese book that I couldn't understand.

Empty shell.

Then take out an English book in which you know a few words.

It's still just an empty shell.

Undeterred, I didn't go far before I spotted a Chinese book that I liked.

Who put the five yuan in their pocket?

"Brother, here's five yuan!"

I covered my mouth, patted Su Yu's shoulder, and beckoned him over to look.

"Take out the money and let me see it."

How is Su Yu not a gentleman? It's alright, luckily I'm not a good person either.

Beware of scams...

"..."

I put the "five yuan" back.

Upstairs, the dazzling array of genuine books piqued my curiosity, but Su Yu moved quickly and found a small private room in a corner, gesturing for me to sit down.

"Brother, are you really going to learn?"

"Shh..."

I took out the books one by one, and Su Yu printed out the materials I needed for the make-up exam, highlighting the key points with a highlighter, and told me to memorize them for thirty minutes first.

The A4 paper in my hand arrogantly tells me not to fantasize about a wonderful date at the library, and to face the tragic reality that will follow in a little over a month.

I memorized the documents until Su Yu told me I didn't need to look at them anymore. I put the documents down with a heavy heart, and I could feel how haggard I looked without even looking in the mirror.

Rubbing my sore eyes, I wondered if I should ask Su Yu for the audio of the mini eye exercises, when a soft pair of lips pressed against my cheek.

It even stuck out its tongue and licked me.

Exhaustion vanished in an instant, and I raised my eyebrows in surprise as I looked at Su Yu, whose face was flushed, who had moved next to me.

Poke the other side of your face with your hand.

He looked at me impatiently, then pinched the skin he had just kissed and turned me around, fulfilling my little wish.

If Su Yu could have done that during the college entrance exam, I would have done better than him.

Su Yu sat back down, and my gaze followed him.

Why are his lips so red?

Su Yu noticed my confusion, took out a lipstick from under the table and waved it in front of me, then used her thumb to smear the lipstick off her lips.

I'll finish writing a few listening exercises later; I've booked a room nearby.

A while later, I received another note.

However, depending on your performance, if you make too many mistakes, then forget it.

Su Yu battled through the Level 4 listening comprehension test and narrowly won by half a point.

After Su Yu finished using the restroom, he saw me standing respectfully at the bathroom door with my backpack, waiting for him.

After reviewing my paper, the examiner had to admit my intelligence and ability to control my score. In order to keep his promise, he let me go with him.

Once you get to the first floor, guess who you'll run into?

Qiu Jiajia and her friend ordered a table full of cakes and desserts on the first floor, along with various small metal pieces and paper scraps.

Upon seeing my brother and me, she beckoned us over as if we were her saviors, intending to pretend she didn't see us and pull me and Su Yu away quickly. However, Su Yu happily walked towards them, of course not letting me go.

But my gun was already loaded!

It turned out that the two little girls had finished most of the food and then asked us to clean up the rest.

I strongly refuse to eat leftovers!

"These are all freshly served. I didn't expect the portions to be so large. Consider it a get-together with old classmates, Su Yu, please don't be shy!"

You can take the leftovers home.

Su Yu and Su Yu left carrying a box of strawberry cream cake and some thin chocolate hazelnuts.

I rushed to the hotel, and as soon as I entered the foyer, I couldn't wait to kiss Su Yu. In the midst of our passionate kiss, we almost ruined the exquisite little cake.

I carried Su Yu in my arms, kissing him as we walked to the small refrigerator where the cocktails were kept. He was even more clingy than I expected, just holding my neck and refusing to let go of my lips, even if it was just touching.

It took a lot of effort to open my eyes wide and put the cake into the small refrigerator through his dancing hair, while also making sure that I couldn't be separated from him even by a millimeter.

After finishing, they naturally rolled onto the bed. It was really hard to take off clothes in winter, and Su Yu was still wearing a sweater. She was tired.

He said he needed a break because he was dying of heat.

But the blue and yellow fuzzy sweater hanging on his shoulder bones made his skin look as white as snow, and his collarbones, like seagulls spreading their wings, flew into my heart.

"Brother, is it okay if I don't take them off?"

"This is the sweater you wore in high school."

He's really skilled.

...

Halfway through our lovemaking, he lay panting on his back on the bed, while I was still crawling between his legs.

Suddenly, a strong, delicate foot kicked me away. Confused, I wiped my mouth, assuming the service hadn't been up to par. Su Yu looked at the ceiling and pointed to the table.

So I brought the cake over, and he patted my head with satisfaction.

The hotel bed wasn't dirty at all after the battle, which made me wonder why Su Yu was acting so strangely by carrying that round bag. When he laid that super absorbent blanket on the sheets, I had to admit he was slightly better than me.

After a whirlwind of activity, we showered in the bathroom, snuggled in bed to watch TV, took a nap for about half an hour, and then went home satisfied.

Although my mom didn't understand, she still carefully examined my study notes from the afternoon and told me that this was more like it.

In the evening, Su Yu updated another video, which was a segment of our learning from the first half of today's progress.

The number of likes, shares, and comments surged, with some saying they hoped the streamer would release more electronic pickled vegetables so they could watch them while eating.

They say that just looking at my brother's face makes you want to eat three bowls of rice.

What a coincidence, me too.

I can drink three bowls of strong soy sauce.

Another Spring Festival has arrived. Amidst the overwhelming online discussions about the "fading festive atmosphere," the elders of the Su family are gathering together year after year to make dumplings, while the little kids are playing games with unrestrained drool, and the middle-aged kids are each "indifferently" playing on their own phones.

Su Yu and I sat comfortably by the air conditioner vent. He was wearing a red sweater and a plaid scarf, and he had his legs draped over mine as he played on his phone.

"The air conditioning's on, kid, don't wear a scarf anymore," a relative whose name I didn't know said to my brother, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his hands covered in flour.

"Auntie, I'm cold."

"Then turn the air conditioner up a bit higher, fourth child! Look how cold the kid is!"

As soon as the temperature rises, the little kids all take off their decent coats, revealing their old-fashioned children's sweaters.

Gradually, everyone seemed to find the indoor heat unbearable and wanted to go outside for some fresh air. Su Yu and I remained still, but we both watched them carefully as they went out.

When the last little girl with two braids closed the door and left, Su Yu and I looked at each other.

She quickly gave him a quick "smack" kiss, then switched to a nonchalant expression and continued playing on her phone.

As usual, the adults fell asleep watching the Spring Festival Gala and were woken up by their own children. We practically beat our dad, who was prone to fainting from carbon monoxide poisoning, until he was completely drowsy and seemed oblivious to the drama. Su Yu told him to go upstairs and rest, and only then did he sheepishly scratch his head and leave.

Grandpa and Grandma were overjoyed with the whole family around them, and they weren't sleepy at all. Grandma stood up unsteadily, and I thought she needed to relieve herself, so I quickly went to help her.

Unexpectedly, she pulled a red plastic bag out of her cotton coat pocket, opened another layer of cloth bag, and then another embroidered brocade pouch.

"The scholarships for you and your brother..."

“Your grandfather and I don’t need much money right now, and your older siblings all have jobs and can support themselves… Please accept this, child.”

Su Yu saw this and got up. After thinking about it, he happily accepted it. He and I sat down on either side of the two elderly people.

Grandpa and Grandma worked hard their whole lives to raise a family. Grandpa, who had been watching the program for who knows how long, felt the warmth of my palm. "Good child," he said, "you must study hard...and progress together with your brother..."

"I, your grandma and I, definitely!"

He suddenly perked up when he said those words.

"We must see you all settled down and established! And bring back a great-grandchild for the Su family!"

I didn't know how to respond to him, so Grandma slapped him on the head, saying, "The two children are so young, what are you saying? I think you're really quite confused..."

Grandpa closed his eyes and mouth, snoring his gray hair.

"Then I have to work even harder!"

Grandma gave him another blow.

After escorting the two elderly people back to their room to sleep, the TV was still playing a wonderful program. The reason why Su Yu and I have been able to reach this point in harmony is because of our tacit understanding.

Grab the key, walk out of the courtyard, and close the gate. From the alley, you can see bright red lanterns and fireworks exploding in the sky.

It's fleeting, leaving us with dazzling and gorgeous colors before disappearing without a trace.

I could smell the lingering scent of fireworks and firecrackers; it was slightly pungent, but Su Yu had told me he liked it. The smell reminded him of the dead of winter and hope.

Hope, children are the hope of a family.

"Brother, if you ever don't want me anymore, you must tell me. I'll stay far away from you, and once you've settled down, gotten married, and had children, I absolutely, positively won't bother you!"

A younger boy got up in the dark to pee, and the unfamiliar environment made him cry. Su Yu and I helped him get into bed before he came out again. I talked to him about those things.

What are you saying?

"Su Yu, if that day ever comes, I'll be the one who leaves..."

I interrupted him.

"Your parents love you so much, how can you leave them?"

"Don't your parents love you?"

Arguing is pointless. Su Yu said that every time he and I were intimate, he would think of the way his mother held that little girl that day, so happy and joyful.

"Seeing how happy she was, I thought to myself, I really ruined you. You could have had a normal life."

"Our family needs a child, you understand?"

I don't remember what Su Yu said after that, but he so calmly brought up the topic we had been avoiding, catching me off guard.

His tone was completely calm, as if he were chatting casually, but as the sparks flew again, I saw that he was already in tears.
