Chapter 29

Chapter 29

I've finally come to understand why people who have known each other online for a long time are still shy after confirming their relationship.

I am now Su Yu's [official boyfriend]. With such a precious title, I want to put on a tie, stand on the rooftop, grab a megaphone, and announce it to the whole world except for the Su family.

I had never thought about or looked at our relationship from this perspective before. The shyness of being a new husband made me want to cook and clean for him.

"I want to go for a walk in the park with Su Yu." Such a simple sentence, if it were before, I would have sent it immediately. But as I held my phone with sweaty palms, repeatedly considering the wording, I just couldn't bring myself to say it right.

I posted it to my alternate account, added different emojis to see the effect, but I wasn't very satisfied.

Even the one I've been using lately seems inappropriate to post now; it doesn't look good.

Brother, shall we go to the park tomorrow?

:good

This instant reply undoubtedly rekindled my romantic feelings.

Can I have lunch first? I have something to do this morning.

:certainly!

I was just about to tell him that I also have things to do tomorrow morning.

I tried on several outfits in my dorm room, sweating profusely but not feeling tired at all. I was determined to look my best! I couldn't let my boyfriend down!

I went to bed early and even applied the skincare products that Xiaoxing gave me.

As soon as dawn broke, my mind was clear enough to complete a set of college entrance exam math papers.

I took out my phone again to look at the design I had chosen online. I was about to start making it, and I was really looking forward to seeing Su Yu's surprised expression when she received it.

The florist messaged me and asked me to come over, so I set off immediately.

The air was refreshing, and the old, worn-out school gate, which usually made people's voices "harsh and unpleasant to hear," sounded as clear as birdsong.

I hailed a taxi, worried about ruining my carefully styled mature-man hairstyle. With a mix of trepidation and excitement, I arrived at my destination, only to be greeted by a burst of floral fragrance as soon as I opened the door.

"Mr. Su, here are the seven red roses and one white jasmine bud you requested, along with the white wrapping paper."

"Yes, thank you for your hard work."

"Next, I'll teach you how to wrap them together."

The cool roots burrowed into my burning palm, as if they had become the embodiment of desire. I carefully and meticulously pruned the branches and leaves.

I gathered up the wrapping paper...

"Oh, Mr. Su, you've come too."

Just as I was concentrating on arranging the flowers, the shop manager called out to the people at the door.

No way.

"What a coincidence! This gentleman shares the same name as you and also made an appointment for this morning."

"Here you go, you wanted a gladiolus and asparagus, right? Black ribbon and white wrapping paper."

I looked up, and the stunned expression on the person's face at the door was exactly the same as mine.

The store manager led Su Yu to my long table and stood in the middle to teach the two of us separately.

Su Yu was trying hard to suppress the urge to laugh through her tightly pursed lips. We didn't speak, just nodded slightly and went about our own business.

I peeked at the flowers and plants he had chosen and secretly compared them to the ones I had wrapped.

His color scheme is a bit better than mine, but my creativity and ingenuity are number one!

After I wrapped the red ribbon around myself, the shop manager braided a pretty bow for me and asked if I could take a picture and post it on WeChat Moments.

I nodded in agreement.

"I really envy your girlfriend. Some guys come to pick flowers and just grab two or three at random. It's rare to find a guy like you who has both good symbolism and good taste."

The girl's compliments made me so happy I felt like my nose was pointing to the sky.

"Haha, all done. Let me guess, does this bouquet of flowers mean that your 'white moonlight' and 'cinnabar mole' are the same person?"

I really wanted to tell the girl to stop talking, because Su Yu was right next to her!

I carried the bag carefully, afraid of squeezing it, and also took a few photos as a memento.

"Mine is ready too."

Su Yu walked over with the bouquet of flowers, speaking to the shop manager, but her eyes were on me.

"Hey, yours is pretty good too. Do you have a younger sister who's taking the college entrance exam next year? Older brothers are definitely more thoughtful."

I began to listen.

"Well... I have a younger brother. He was chased and bitten by a dog when he was little, and he hurt his head. He just learned to call me 'brother' this year."

What does this mean?

"Oh dear, that must have been quite an achievement."

The store manager also took a picture of what Su Yu did. We went out together and looked at each other in bewilderment.

"..."

"..."

I hid the flowers behind my back.

"It's okay, just pretend you didn't see it."

Su Yu spoke first, and then we each took a taxi back to school.

When the appointed time arrived in the afternoon, I messaged him saying I was about to head out and would give him a surprise when I got there.

He said okay, but he also wanted to give me one.

I went to wait for him downstairs at his dormitory. He was carrying a square bag with a base, and it was obvious what was inside.

The weather was nice today; the sun had dyed the edges of his hair a golden glow, and he wore a warm, light blue hoodie.

He also wore a little makeup.

We walked arm in arm toward the entrance and took a taxi to the park. Luckily, it was a weekday and there weren't many people, otherwise we wouldn't know where to stay.

After getting off the car, we walked about a hundred meters inwards, and only after making sure that there was really no one around did we take out the flowers.

Wow! Thank you, Su Yu!

"Oh my god, bro, you even brought me flowers! I'm so happy!"

After exchanging the flowers, we took many photos together.

We've always loved places with fresh air. I had a cold then, and my nose was so stuffy. My parents suggested we go hiking. I arrived at the foot of the mountain feeling dizzy, nauseous, and screaming like a banshee. But the higher I climbed, the easier it was to breathe.

My mother said that forests have healing properties.

Now I'm not sick, I'm perfectly healthy, and Su Yu no longer follows me around taking care of me.

There are also many small animals here. I imitated their poses, and Su Yu just laughed. I wanted to see him laugh; I liked seeing him laugh.

I hope he can be this happy for the rest of his life.

I had some snacks for dinner in the treehouse. I was eyeing a box of beautifully designed but incredibly expensive macarons. I wonder if this flower arranging experience really improved my aesthetic sense.

Su Yu looked back every few steps, realizing what I wanted.

"You have to eat it if you buy it."

"I will definitely eat it."

After paying and receiving the delicious treat I'd been longing for, I couldn't wait to pop one into my mouth.

It tastes awful.

Su Yu is the one who can best see through my thoughts.

"Finish eating."

"Brother, try two."

"I don't want to."

Carrying that box of sweet stuff only made me feel burdened. Su Yu said that I had the same reaction when I first saw macarons in a bakery.

My mom said that if I bought it, I had to finish it, or she would make me into macarons.

Later, I released that box of macarons in the name of "all things in the world should have freedom".

"Okay, if you don't want to eat it, just throw it away. Don't force yourself."

Then I gave macarons freedom again.

As dusk approached, we sat on a bench by the lake, leaning our heads together to watch the sunset.

The water was clear and round, and the evening breeze, carrying the smell of cooking smoke, rippled the surface. Black swans were seen in pairs.

Suddenly, it occurred to me that when we're eighty years old, Su Yu will still bring me to a park like this. Then, the two of us old men will still be leaning against each other like this.

Will I get so old that I can't hold my drool anymore? No problem, Su Yu will definitely carry tissues with her to wipe me clean.

When was this park first set foot in by humans? And how many times in our lives have we come here today?

Time will bring us old age, and when our wrinkles are filled with the marks of time, will our large hands still be able to deftly wrap the flowers we've carefully chosen for our loved ones...?

Happiness makes one drowsy. Su Yu's chest rose and fell steadily, her eyelashes fluttering, thick and long.

If you told me the world would end in the next second, I think I would hold my brother's hand without hesitation and meet him in the next storyline.

"Phew... the wind feels so good."

The weight on her shoulders gradually lightened until it disappeared, and as the moon rose beautifully, Su Yu opened her eyes.

He was still next to me, but he changed his position and lay back on my lap.

"We're going to a planet where there's no one else..."

"It's just the two of us; we are the rulers of that planet."

Chieftain? Isn't Su Yu's ambition a bit too far-fetched?

He put his arm around my neck and brought me in front of him. When I was still a little short of his reach, he suddenly stood up and kissed me hard and loudly.

Wandering aimlessly along the tree-lined path dotted with starlight, I unknowingly turned into a lush grove of trees, surrounded only by tall, sturdy trees and billboards.

We went inside, and Su Yu pressed me against a tree, using his right leg to push my legs apart, and stood firmly in front of me.

He rubbed his knee against my pants, the texture of the jeans rubbing together until they felt warm, the pressure gradually increasing. I couldn't decipher the meaning in his eyes.

He covered my eyes with his hands, then covered my ears and kissed me.

It's still ongoing.

The "sizzling" sound of water became exceptionally clear in my brain, and the sensation of our lips and tongues intertwining quickly brought me to my senses.

He said he would help me with his hands.

...

After we finished, we walked out of the woods, the sound of saliva still lingering in my mind. Su Yu said I looked like the little boy on Want Want milk tea.

The streetlights came on, and people came to run. Su Yu felt only joy and satisfaction. I walked behind him, my mouth agape, my eyes vacant.

Su Yu said that every time he sees me like this, he knows that even if he leads me into the sewers, I'll think I'm playing a log flume ride.

This amazing guy took me to a remote, deserted place. If I didn't know our relationship, I would have been terrified that he would stir-fry my kidneys.

Then he would lose his [privilege/privilege], so he wouldn't do that.

He slapped me lightly first, and I came to my senses.

Su Yu took out my phone, turned on video recording mode, and asked me to film him. Thinking he was going to film some high-quality short video, I quickly switched to high-level combat mode. Su Yu then told me to relax.

“My dearest Su Yu, I believe a confession should begin with a bouquet of flowers. Today marks the twentieth year I’ve known you, and the nineteenth year you’ve known me. Now, I want to ask you…”

Su Yu knelt down on one knee, and I was so shocked I almost threw my phone away.

He held all the flowers we had made in his hands, gathered them in front of me, and before he could finish speaking, his face popped out from behind me: "Can I be Su Yu's boyfriend?"

...

You're such a silly guy; you only kneel down when you're proposing.

Su Yu didn't hear my reply. She stood up and, in a daze, only saw that I was already in tears.

In his haste, he haphazardly wiped my face with his sleeve, and I excitedly nodded in agreement, even burping a few times.

As I accepted the two bouquets of flowers, my tears flowed uncontrollably. Su Yu took my phone, smiling as she tried to take a picture of me.

"You didn't record the video?"

I stopped crying immediately.

"Sorry..."

I took a tissue from his pocket and wiped away my tears, snot, and drool myself. He put away his sentimental side and punched me, saying that I didn't even record this kind of scene.

"It's okay, I've already engraved the image of your love for me in my heart."

I, with the dashing presence of a Japanese anime protagonist, uttered heart-stirring words, practically ready to pop a rose into my mouth. Su Yu hoped I would come to terms with myself soon.

Back at school, we posted a message on WeChat Moments that everyone except our family could see, announcing that we were together.

That was the most likes and comments I ever received.

Following my dad's example, I posted a separate message: Thank you for all the blessings from relatives and friends. I won't reply to each one individually. (roses) (roses) (roses)

Su Yu kept calling me, asking what I was pretending for and telling me to delete that comment immediately.

He really has no sense of romance.

After being all lovey-dovey for a while, Su Yu said he would take me to look at apartments, as he had earned enough money to buy a small one.
