Chapter 50 Parents are back!
When she got home, she took out the sheep, which looked to weigh over 100 pounds and seemed to have eaten very well. But how did she skin it? This was something she didn't know.
We had no choice but to ask Grandpa Shen for help. Last time, it was Grandpa Shen who directed the handling of the wild boars; wild goats are no big deal for him.
Jinran skipped over to the old house to find Grandpa Shen, "Grandpa, can you do me a favor?"
Grandpa Shen raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "Tell me about it."
"I hunted a wild goat, but I don't know how to kill it. Can you clean it up for me?"
Grandpa Shen stared in shock at his capable granddaughter, at a loss for words. In the end, he could only utter, "Just wait and see what your grandma will say to you!"
Jinran shook her head smugly, "I know how much my grandma loves me. I can control her in a heartbeat. She can't bear to part with me."
"Yeah?"
Jinran looked at him with an expression that said it was nothing, and Grandpa Shen said with amusement, "I wasn't the one who asked that just now."
Jinran: "???"
Turning around, she saw Grandma Shen leaning against the doorframe, looking at her seriously, as if she could pick up a broom and start giving her a loving lecture at any moment.
Jinran quickly begged for mercy, but she was still lectured for half an hour.
Finally, Jinran followed dejectedly behind Grandpa Shen home.
Grandpa Shen said gloatingly, "How about it? Isn't your grandma incredibly virtuous?"
Jinran dared not say anything more. She looked around to make sure no one was watching before saying, "There's a different kind of violence here!"
After arriving home, Grandpa Shen quickly prepared the whole sheep. Jinran first cut off a piece of mutton for Grandpa Shen.
"Grandpa, take these back first and let Grandma cook them. They're fresh and delicious. I'm going to mooch a meal from her later. I still need to marinate the rest, otherwise they'll start to smell bad tomorrow."
When Grandpa Shen heard that Jinran was also going to eat, he accepted the basket and slowly carried it home.
Jinran gave Doujin a few bones. She also gave Fugui a few pieces of fresh meat. She set aside the lamb spine, planning to stew it that evening and store it in her space for tomorrow.
Roasted lamb leg, onion and cumin meat, meatball soup, lamb spine hot pot, and a few cold dishes—six dishes in total.
I don't know if eating mutton in this weather will cause me to get a sore throat, but I don't care, it's meat, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
We had dinner at my grandparents' house tonight. The mutton was really delicious. Although the mutton in the restaurant was also good, it just didn't taste as good as this wild goat.
As Jinran ate the mutton, she thought about planting more chives and making chive blossom dishes. She imagined dipping the mutton in the hot pot during the winter in such a wonderful way.
Grandma Shen looked at Jinran and smiled foolishly, just taking it as her happiness at having eaten meat.
Just as I was about to leave after finishing my meal, I saw my aunt, whom I hadn't seen in a long time, leaning over the wall, looking displeased. She said, "Nini, did you eat at your grandparents' house? What good stuff did you eat? We could smell it from here."
Jinran let out a long burp, just in time for the occasion, and then asked cutely, "Auntie, what did you say? I didn't hear you clearly."
The eldest aunt turned and left in anger; she had never gotten the better of this brat. Slippery as a board, just like her wretched mother.
Jinran tried to strike a mischievous pose, "Auntie, you've successfully piqued my interest!"
She shuddered as she finished speaking; this greasy, domineering CEO was not someone an ordinary person could be.
When I got home, I took a nice shower and went to sleep.
the next day
Jinran got up very early and fed all the animals in the house that had mouths to feed, including herself.
I took out the lamb spine that I pressure-cooked yesterday, put it in a bowl, and waited for my parents to come home so it would be ready in no time. I put the lamb leg in the roasting pan; that will take a little longer. The rest of the dishes will be easy to prepare.
Then Jinran took out the quilts from her parents' and brothers' rooms to air them out, since the weather was particularly nice today.
She watered the plants in the backyard again, and the watermelons have all started to form, but they're still small. She'll have to wait a little longer. She guesses they'll be able to eat watermelons once her chickens start laying eggs!
Wait a minute... are her chicks male or female?
That's a question; I'll ask about it later.
She tidied up the house again, noticing the barn full of firewood and five large vats filled with grain and mountain produce, all of which Jinran had painstakingly collected from the mountain.
The cellar was also full; the pickled vegetables and preserved vegetables that I planned to take with me to my parents were all prepared.
Yesterday I made some mutton sauce on my social media, which I'll give to my parents and brothers later. It tastes pretty good.
She managed the house quite well.
