Chapter 383: Rapid Pursuit

Chapter 383: Rapid Pursuit

Roar, gunshot, collision, explosion, all the noises were drowned out by a loud bang. The luxury car slid out of the smoke, tearing through the night sky, and moved forward bravely under the accompaniment of many searchlights.

The night in Jingsha City-State was ablaze with lights. All public water curtains within the city activated simultaneously, broadcasting a large map showing the terrorists' movements. Ace anchors chattered like parrots: "The conflict has spread to the western border of the Third Vein. Attentive citizens in the relevant areas, please prepare. All air ducts have been sealed, leaving the terrorists with nowhere to escape!"

Motorcycles ignited, cars raced, and hunters rode on the backs of roaring beasts. Mercenaries and assassins from nearby rushed out in droves, while the independent Divine Guards drove four feathered flying vehicles, closely following the luxury cars.

The car, high beams on, hurtled forward, ostentatiously fearing its enemies wouldn't be able to see it clearly. Several assassins had piled up roadblocks made of exotic metal in front of the road, but the luxury car's speed didn't slow at all. It pierced through the barriers like a piece of paper, sending the screams of the assassins flying into the night sky!

"What a great car." Chu Hengkong honked the horn with satisfaction. "One of the reasons I like taking orders from you is that every time I go out, I get to enjoy a new and wonderful car."

Velvet, buried in her information terminal, sighed. "I admire your good humor, but we're being sought by the entire city."

Chu Hengkong blew a loud whistle. "Isn't it cool, Velvet? My childhood dream has finally come true!"

"This is the first time I've heard of someone's dream being wanted by the entire United States."

"Every man has a dream of racing through a hail of bullets in his heart!"

"You really should watch less Japanese animation."

He suddenly slammed on the brakes and turned the steering wheel. The Cadillac drifted through the U-turn with absolute perfection. The pursuers, who had no time to react, rushed out of the road and into the ravine. The flames of the explosion illuminated the license plate of the car in the distance.

Several armored vehicles in the rear quickly stopped, and the grenadiers took advantage of the limousine's slowdown to grab their crossbows. The Divine Guard's standard Level 4 weapon, "Deep Green Shock," had enough destructive power to level a city.

The dark green crossbow bolt struck the rear of the luxury car but failed to do anything. It bounced back in an unnatural direction!

The grenadiers' faces were pale as the armored vehicles were reduced to ash by the explosion. The divine power of the Duai Sacred Tree saved these dying fools in time. They screamed into the communication channel, "We can't penetrate the enemy's armor! What kind of vehicle is that?!"

"There's no such vehicle in the database. They might have used the newly developed vector transfer armor from Dustless Land..." the scholar in the rear stuttered, "But that's technology developed for fleet carriers! Miniaturizing it and using it in a single vehicle is... a pure waste of resources. If such a vehicle really existed, its manufacturing cost would be enough to arm a small fleet."

"Why the hell would they create something like this?" The team member cursed angrily, "Aren't people on Fuguang Road said to be the most rational people?! Where's the rationality?!"

Velvet in the car felt a little dizzy from the impact. She said unhappily, "It's too bumpy."

"Sorry, sorry, I haven't driven in a while and my hands are a little rusty." Chu Hengkong smiled awkwardly, like a real driver, "I need to get back into the groove. Are there any of my old songs?"

“I haven’t got the time to restore your old CDs.” Velvet gestured, “But the car has Bluetooth.”

"That's so thoughtful, boss. I knew you loved me."

Velvet looked away. “Your tone when you were 15 was so stupid. Even if you’re mentally retarded, please don’t use that.”

Chu Hengkong ignored him and pulled out his old phone, connecting it to the car's Bluetooth. The signal was instantly connected, and even the name was exactly the same. He didn't even look where he was going, only occasionally fiddling with the steering wheel. A motorcyclist, nearly caught up and trying to seize the opportunity, was slashed in the air by a sharp blade, his throat slashing through the air. His blood streaked a long red line outside the car window.

"Done!" Chu Hengkong put down his phone with satisfaction, "Let's order Initial D."

"I've completely given up on trying to change your musical taste."

"You should listen to this while driving."

He pressed the play button, and the piano accompaniment and female singing sounded, and the compact beat quickly drew the audience into the atmosphere.

The melody carried into the night, still clearly audible amidst the explosions. The pursuers saw the same shock in each other's eyes. This killer had even turned up the speakers, as if to him, this city-wide manhunt was just a game.

“Stay, Forever my game is good to play

(Stay, my gaming skills have always been good)

Incredible story if you Stay

(You can see incredible stories if you stay)

I need you today, My heart is on fire

(I need you today, my heart is beating like fire)

Please don't leave this way!

(Please don’t leave like this)!”

They could even hear the killer singing along, and the bastard was actually having fun, as happy as a kid on his first spring outing!

“Hey Velvet, let’s sing along.” He laughed. “What a wonderful night! The entire Jingsha city-state is racing with us!”

Velvet held her forehead and said, “Look ahead…”

The roar of propellers approached, and not far away, a massive, cold, solid silhouette loomed against the night. It was a single, solid block wrapped in rough bark, roughly the size of a building. Dozens of aircraft, carrying it, waited at the front of the driveway, and a low, throbbing sound emanated from within.

"Level 5 war plant pulp bombs, destructive weapons used to bomb Imperial bases. First Team is getting serious."

"Can our nice car make it?"

"I'm afraid there will be considerable damage."

"OK, I'll think of something..."

Chu Hengkong casually opened the glove box and touched a round object. He smiled with satisfaction: "You really do understand me. Directions."

"3 kilometers at 10 o'clock, no-man's land with no signs of life."

He rolled down the window and threw the object in his hand into the air. It was a handful of round stones, which were touched by the killer's fingertips as they floated into the air and flew towards the many vines dragging the bomb.

Five stones were fired, and nearly one-third of the vines broke at almost the same time. The flying column lost its balance and was dragged to one side by the bombs, and fell into the no-man's land with incredible precision three seconds later.

Chu Hengkong flicked up stones one after another. Under his control, the stones flew in all directions like automatic missiles, piercing the motorcyclist's head, punching through the power box of the armored vehicle, and penetrating the aircraft hundreds of meters in the air from bottom to top, turning it into a burning fireball.

In just a few breaths, the area behind the luxury car became a silent no-man's land, and all the pursuers disappeared. What thwarted their actions was not some weapons of large-scale destruction, but just a handful of stones!

Vali, the vice-captain of the first team, had just caught up, being carried by his teammates. He was practically breathless at the sight. He roared into the communication channel, "Where are the power limits?! Where are the limits of Master Shenshu?!"

"Deputy Captain, the restrictions have taken effect. They are all at Seismic Point 3..."

Vali stared at the aircraft that had just smashed into pieces on the ground, and his eyes almost popped out of his head: "This is a fucking particle 3?!"

Chu Hengkong, one hand dangling out the car window, stared at the rearview mirror and commented, "I sympathize with Prosecutor Benningtick. If all my teammates were such idiots, I'd rather go to an amusement park and live it up."

“I didn’t see any sympathy in you when you attacked,” Velvet said. “You know the One Love Tree will use its power to ensure their safety, right?”

"What?" Chu Hengkong said, "There's also this matter."

"So you really did kill me once again..."

"They made their own choices! Do I have to shout 'I'm a Blood Alliance assassin, pursue at your own risk' three times before I take action?" Chu Hengkong sneered. "Come on, I don't care if they're brainwashing or deception. Once I step onto the battlefield, I'm responsible for my choices."

Velvet looked a little desperate. “Akong, I was just seriously thinking about how much progress you’ve made over the years.”

"Do you want to know?"

"I want to know."

"My progress is that now I will never let my boss get hurt in my car." Chu Hengkong said, "I mean what I say."

Velvet smiled upon hearing this: "That's a huge improvement."

The path leading to the amusement park was right before my eyes. It was nothing more than the long roots of the sacred tree connecting the two veins. A faint, cold light peeked out from the end of the bridge. A man in a hoodie waited at the end of the roots, drawing his silver bow.

"Old friends are gradually arriving." Chu Hengkong tapped the steering wheel. "It's Silver Eagle."

Number 12, Silver Eagle, a skilled assassin wielding the longbow. He slowly drew the silver bow in his hand, the bowstring taut as a moon. Three specially crafted arrows rested on it. His blood-red aura locked onto Velvet's brow across the distance, forming an invisible thread between the arrows and the chariot.

Silver Eagle's "Triple Shot" will fire three arrows at the target almost simultaneously, creating a concise and deadly overlapping sniper attack.

Chu Hengkong narrowed his eyes. Deep in the darkness, there was another person. Like a ghost, he floated outside the Solitary Bridge, two sparks of soul fire gleaming in his dark eye sockets.

Number 14: Corrupted Ghost, a blind killer who poisons his targets. His venom has been transformed since arriving in the Shendong Realm. Transformed into a psychic form, the killer unleashes numerous pale white ghosts from all directions, obstructing vision and releasing deadly toxins.

"One for each person."

"You can trust me with it."

“I prefer to play it safe.” Velvet clapped her cane. “Please.”

Numerous gun ports jutted out of the luxury car's body, and Chu Hengkong seized the opportunity to swerve. The internal weapons opened fire as it spun, the flames swirling into a dazzling circle. That blazing circle blasted the poisonous ghosts into a hail of blood. The lonely souls that had slain so many hunters were reduced to ash in a flash by the intense pulse of mental energy.

The luxury car spun across the single-plank bridge, dancing gracefully amidst a hail of bullets. The corrupted ghost's true form attempted to flee, but was captured and ripped apart by the circle of gunfire. At that moment, the distant Silver Eagle unleashed its arrows. Three long arrows connected in a single line, ripping the night sky apart, their spirit coating the arrows with gleaming feathers.

At the same time, Chu Hengkong threw up his last stone, coating it in red with burning energy. The flying stone transformed into a stream of stardust, piercing the three long arrows through the middle and knocking down the silver eagle!

The limousine stopped spinning and sped forward. Silver Eagle fell to his knees, clutching his throat. The stone had not only pierced the arrow but also pierced his vitals, and this wasn't even considered a "move" for the Sacrificial Serpent.

There is no point in suppressing particles. These top figures cannot be restrained by mere particles. Even if they are suppressed to particle 2 or even particle 1, these two people will have a way to fight their way out of the siege of the whole city!

"Are you okay?" Chu Hengkong casually touched the girl's head.

Velvet realized that he was talking about how she had just been targeted by her emotions, and couldn't help but laugh: "Do you think this was 10 years ago?"

"Even ten or twenty years from now, human nature won't change. You've always been a bit timid. When you were little, your lips would turn blue with fright every time you rode in my car," Chu Hengkong rambled on. "Your bad habit is that you like to scare yourself. You get nervous when you're wanted by the whole city... It's just that your acting is much better now, so you appear calm."

More assassins gathered in the rear, and the lights of the amusement park in the distance illuminated the figures of the ambushers. The pursuit continued, endlessly. The situation was indeed dire, but this time Chu Hengkong was wrong for once; she didn't feel particularly nervous or afraid.

She is strong and powerful now, but this has nothing to do with her strength or her assessment of the situation. It is simply... a habit.

She sat next to this man, and nothing in the world was worth fearing.

The old songs were almost over, and she listened quietly to the last song in the noise, and listened to Chu Hengkong's unpleasant singing along.

“Stay, Whenever you want to feel the same

(Stay if you want the same feeling)

Forever I need you

(I'll always need you)

if you Stay, My heart is okay

(If you stay, my heart will be saved)"

At this moment, she felt that the past had returned. After many years, they had found each other again in this hellish world. So Velvet also smiled and sang along softly with the last line of the lyrics.

"Together we'll spend our lives forever more!"

(We will spend our lives together forever!)
