Chapter 45: Remarks on the Release
Damn, how come it’s already August?
This was truly my first reaction after hearing the book was going on shelves. "Forging Destiny" started in June, and more than a month had already passed before I saw the notification and realized it was time to put it on shelves. I was still working on reports in the office when I saw the notification. Thinking back to this time two years ago, I was a carefree graduate student writing "Cang Du" in my free time, and it felt like a lifetime ago.
But I don’t think anyone cares much about the author’s experience as a social animal, so let’s talk about the book…
I had the idea of writing an infinite flow game a long time ago, because I like the structure of infinite flow in all aspects: traveling through the world like a ranger, doing good or evil depends on a thought, meeting new friends and having new stories every time, exploring a mysterious and unknown new place, and then returning home with a generous reward, and starting a new round of adventure after a short rest.
Isn't that wonderful? It embodies all the fantasies of an adventurous child about the future! As long as there are enough ideas, a story like this can be written endlessly until both the reader and the protagonist are satisfied. However, when the story is actually written, it doesn't live up to the expectations...
When it comes to Fate Forger, I originally planned to have Akong be a classic, decisive, and ruthless protagonist, following a more traditional infinite flow, taking on quests and conquering islands one by one under the system's guidance. However, during the outline phase, I discovered an unavoidable problem:
It's so troublesome to redeem tasks and distribute character panels through the system.
Well, since I'm lazy, I deleted the system...
The second problem is that I have to keep changing dungeons as I fight my way through each island. This puts a lot of pressure on my ideas and leaves me with little opportunity to describe daily life and beautiful girls... After all, I'm still writing a light novel and I prefer some character interaction...
So I decided to write more stories in a big city with more three-dimensionality!
In this way, the framework of destiny was gradually formed. Then when I look back at it now, I found (not too shocked)
——It has nothing to do with infinite flow anymore!
Ah, that's it, that's why I didn't feel comfortable labeling it as an infinite flow. After all, a typical infinite flow game would have reached at least the second dungeon by the time it's released, and now Akong is still steadily advancing the story of Huilong City. This is really not funny. Is it too slow? Shouldn't it speed up? Hurry up and add some eye-catching elements like beautiful girls falling from the sky, or add some plots that I personally like but the reviewers probably won't like, or dig out something that seems useful from between the lines of the previous text as foreshadowing, and then develop it fiercely with shocking facts, let the plot run wild in one go, and then leap into a vast new world -
But it won't work. It's tempting, but it won't. This isn't a particularly popular story, so it's better to just keep going, step by step. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day. Creating the Hanging Gardens with unbridled abandon is a privilege reserved for a select few geniuses. Any average writer attempting to emulate this will likely produce unusable garbage. After years of writing stories, I've basically reached a certain limit on my abilities. It's better to lay a solid foundation first before we can talk about the future.
Therefore, in the remaining pages of Volume 1, I will do my best to tell the story of Huilong City and strive to satisfy everyone who has read this far. As for the overall direction of the story, I still want to save it for the summary at the end of the volume (after all, there is no reason to spoil it in the acceptance speech), so I will not elaborate on it here.
Time becomes very precious after work, I will try my best to update steadily.
Finally, as is customary, I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone who has made it this far. Thank you to every reader who has read this book. Thank you to the Otter Spirit who discussed the setting with me and helped me get the manuscript, and to the curator who always listened to my complaints. Thank you to the first and second Silver Alliance Leaders, the Earthbound Spirits (I'm truly shocked), Alliance Leader Antsaber, the Honest Ghost Team, Kamikyo Kamikyo, Prairie Wolf 2221, Retsu Kaioh Challenges the Strong in Gensokyo, The Cat Box and the Witch of Dreams, and Damaskeen. Thank you also to all the readers for your tips, monthly tickets, and recommendations. Thank you!
Your support will become my burgers and milk tea... No, it will become my motivation to write! (Loudly)
Finally, I would like to shamelessly ask for recommendation votes and monthly votes.
In addition, a new book club has been established for this book, Huilongcheng Miaomiao Squid Plantation, with the group number 980497014. Everyone is welcome to join the group to discuss squid planting experiences.
