Chapter 46: The Sound of the Wind (Part 1)

Chapter 46: The Sound of the Wind (Part 1)

Baimei stamped out the cigarette butt and felt annoyed.

Dad's assignment came too quickly. The day before yesterday, he said it would be done within a month, but the next day, he changed his mind and said it would be done within two days. Capturing a daughter isn't kidnapping; intelligence and a clean background are the basics, and there are even requirements for her date of birth. How easy is it to find a girl born on a full moon? Fortunately, there are so many gossipers among mothers, otherwise he might have been the one to get slapped in the face this time. This skin has served him well; he doesn't want to change it.

"Brother Baimei, we have kidnapped so many people these days. When can we kill a few more?" the follower said with a smile.

"Kill your mother! It's kidnapping again today!" Baimei cursed. "This is the last one. I'll have fun after I finish it."

The four henchmen grinned maliciously, all of them reminiscent of their "harvest" over the past few days. Those girls were locked up in the club's basement, and only one would be chosen by a parent to be their "daughter." The unsuccessful ones would naturally be theirs to deal with. With a dozen or so people, they could probably keep a night of fun, enjoying themselves in various ways. Just thinking about it filled them with anticipation.

Baimei flashed a black jade token, engraved with a crescent moon. When the token was illuminated by light, it emitted a plume of black smoke, transforming into an illusory door. Baimei led his followers through the misty door. In the blink of an eye, they were transported from the club's basement to a narrow, dingy alleyway. The entire street was crammed with gray, old buildings. Looking up, they saw a dense network of cables and clothes hung out to dry, a depressing sight that was unappetizing.

Baimei spat, then walked halfway around with the other four and entered the side road. The side entrance of Bangxing Building was on the left side of the path. Yazi and her daughter Meizi stood inside. The woman's face was pale, and her hands were tightly gripping her daughter's shoulders. The little girl felt a little pain from her mother's grip, but she didn't show any signs of discomfort.

Baimei felt much happier when he realized there were no ghost husbands or fathers around. This is what it means to know the situation! Do you think you have too much time to waste if you have to trouble the elders to beat him up before you can take him away? He hooked his finger, and Yazi's lip bled from biting it himself. "Please don't hurt..."

She tried to say something, but Baimei reached out to grab the little girl. Yazi grabbed his hand, pleading for mercy, tears in her eyes: "Brother Baimei, I beg you..."

Baimei looked at her expressionlessly: "What's going on?"

The attendants spat in disdain and headed to the intersection to keep watch. Baimei grabbed the woman by the neck. Yazi trembled like a dead dog, not daring to utter a word. Her daughter, seemingly frightened, called out from behind, "Mom! Put my mom down!" Each cry was irritating, a death-threatening cry...

A terrible anger appeared on Baimei's face, and he grabbed the woman high up!

He suddenly heard the sound of wind, so light and so fast, like a paper cutter cutting through freshly printed paper. The wind blew from the end of the path toward the alley entrance. He subconsciously turned his head and saw the man in the green coat on the avenue slowly sheathing his knife. Four heads spun around and fell to the ground.

The headless corpse was gushing blood like a column!

The four bodies twitched reflexively as they fell, blood gushing onto the walls and ground. A shrill wind lingered for a long time, mingled with the sound of a child's cries. A little girl closed her eyes at the sound of the wind, and was embraced by her tearful mother. After Yazi landed, she ran away, clutching her daughter. Baimei was unable to intervene, as his arm had fallen to the ground along with the head.

Baimei covered his neck with his only remaining hand, and blood oozed out from between his fingers. It was bright red at first, and then turned into a black color as smelly as petroleum. Then the grip of his single palm could no longer be suppressed, and blood flew up like a ring blade, painting the dirty wall black.

In a pool of blood outside the path, Chu Hengkong quietly wiped the blood from his knife. In that instant, he descended from the top of the building and delivered three fatal blows. One cut Baimei's arm, another cut Baimei's throat, and the last cut off the heads of four people at once. His blades moved so quickly that no one could clearly see the figure or the blade marks. All that was left was the sound of blood splattering in the wind after everything was over!

Behind Chu Hengkong, Baimei's head twisted 180 degrees along the cut, held in place by a thin layer of skin. Dozens of black veins bulged fiercely on his upside-down face, and a beastly roar erupted from his mouth.

"Tentacle bastard, I'll kill you!!!"

The blood within Baimei burst forth, the black gore tearing his body apart, transforming it into a monstrous, canine-like form. One of his front paws was a sharp cutting knife, the other a massive, pale bone club. Behind him grew a long, slender, blood-red tail, its tip tipped with bone spikes like scorpion needles. It was as if the bodies of several wild beasts had been violently chopped off and stitched together in the most hideous manner.

This was Baimei's true face, a strange monster lurking beneath human skin. He angrily raised his claw knife, and the giant blade, as long as an ordinary person's body, slashed towards Chu Hengkong!

Most of Shuoyue Bastard's subordinates are "Fallen," monsters disguised as humans. Their physical strength is impressive, and their survivability is exceptional. Their true form resembles that of a monstrous beast. Once engaged in battle, be sure to observe their form clearly to avoid danger from physical changes.

Ji Qiufeng's instructions flashed through his mind, and Chu Hengkong drew his sword again, slashing upward without looking back. His sword wasn't a special relic, just an ordinary single blade, yet it firmly blocked Baimei's claw blade.

Unconvinced, Baimei swung his claws with increased force, sparks from the friction illuminating the dark night. The two sides exchanged attacks three times. Despite Baimei's weapon advantage, he couldn't gain the upper hand, and he couldn't even make Chu Hengkong turn around. The man's back was filled with silent contempt, a disdain expressed from every angle, from his strength to his very existence.

White Eyebrow's rage was maddening. He switched from a chopping move to a slashing one, swinging his claw blade horizontally. Simultaneously, he swung his right bone hammer with immense force, intending to crush his foe into a pulp. This time, Chu Hengkong lowered his blade diagonally, slashing upwards at the end of the claw blade, knocking the giant claw away. He spun, his blade in his backhand, and thrust his fist at the approaching bone hammer. The moment the hammer and fist collided head-on, the immense force shattering the windows along the entire street!

It was a visually stunning scene. The man swinging the punch was only tall, but the transformed White Eyebrow was five meters tall. The bone hammer in his right arm was thicker than an ordinary tree trunk, powerful enough to smash a vehicle into scrap metal. But the monster's hammer not only failed to shake the man's fist, but was pushed back inch by inch. Unimaginable force erupted from Chu Hengkong's body, and his punch cracked the pale bone shell.

At this moment, a blood-red trail streaked across like a hook, and Baimei's scorpion-like tail swiped out from his side, piercing Chu Hengkong's side. His eyes flashed with malicious triumph. Even if his claws were temporarily paralyzed, he still had his tail stinger to use. This wasn't a duel between humans; monsters had their own methods of victory.

But Baimei's pride was overshadowed by astonishment. A silver whip arrived first, tightly wrapping around its tail like a noose. It was Chu Hengkong's tentacle!

He was completely mistaken. Possessing the same alien limbs, his presumptuous sneak attack was child's play to Chu Hengkong. Chu Hengkong slumped and sidestepped, lowering his center of gravity. He powerfully retracted his left arm, pulling Baimei's scorpion tail backward. This move instantly disrupted Baimei's balance, forcing the monstrous, canine form to stand upright, momentarily unable to strike back. Chu Hengkong swung his right blade, sidestepping and striking, severing the scorpion's tail at its roots!

"ah----!!!"

The blow dealt a truly devastating blow to Baimei, and his miserable cries startled the surrounding residents from their sleep. They trembled, drawing aside the curtains, only to see two dark figures flash across the avenue strewn with broken glass. The tailless monster fled in panic, the knife-wielding man giving chase.

Baimei was truly panicking. Ever since Maivia's "reincarnation," he had become immortal, accustomed to the thrill of bullying men and women, and had bid farewell to the pain of bitter battles. Yet, at this moment, those dusty memories resurfaced. He recalled the footsteps of pursuers as he robbed on the streets, the seemingly useless but incredibly heavy beatings of batons, and the vivid memory evoked his fear.

Baimei leaped up with both feet, leaping repeatedly along the outside of the building, trying to escape directly to the club using the rooftops. He had to go back, back to the protection of his parents. Only within the club could he find hope... But as he leaped, he was met with the blazing flash of a blade. Chu Hengkong was far faster than him. With one hand, the man thrust the blade straight down, piercing Baimei's face and pinning the beast-like Fallen One to the ground!

Baimei knew he couldn't escape, so he had to change his strategy. He disassembled his giant claws and bone hammer into dozens of sharp fangs, controlling them with black blood and thrusting them at Chu Hengkong repeatedly. Chu Hengkong silently swung his sword, offering no defensive effort, simply slashing forward with the blade. His blade's momentum was swift, yet each blow was as powerful and devastating as splitting a mountain. A single strike was certain to cleave Baimei's fangs, drawing a cry of pain from him.

Baimei's entire body felt icy cold, his heart nearly stopping. As his anger faded, he gradually felt a surge of fear, because Chu Hengkong had no need to do this. The killer was faster and more powerful; he could easily dodge and counterattack. But he didn't. He disdained any evasion, only relentless attack. That was the killer's silent declaration: he would completely crush Baimei's specialty, completely crushing the unreasonable and brutal violence with a power that surpassed it.

"You and I have no grudges against each other, why do you have to kill us like this!" Baimei was shocked and angry. "When did I ever offend you? Damn it, when did I ever offend you?!"

There was a cold rage burning in Chu Hengkong's eyes. The first time he spoke in the battle, it was like a death knell announcing the end.

"Remember the vengeance of the dead!"

Baimei's eyes widened. He had indeed seen it, the illusory figure beneath the broken streetlight. The little girl in white and the black dog, their faces bruised and bloodied, their eyes as stubborn and hateful as nails!

"Stop bluffing me! Impossible! Impossible!!"

Baimei screamed, his fear reached its peak at this moment. He stared blankly at the ghost not far away, letting Chu Hengkong swing his knife to cut his flesh.

Suddenly, he roared madly, his fangs falling. New fangs sprouted from his scarred body. His dying flesh regenerated, sharp fangs densely packed into Baimei's skin. His entire body blossomed, transforming into a hideous, ferocious, bloody maw. He lunged at Chu Hengkong and bit down with his body.

That was the beast's counterattack when it was about to die. It was reckless and extremely ferocious. He saw the opportunity when the distance between the two sides was shortened, and wanted to bite off Chu Hengkong's head with his mutated body!

Chu Hengkong silently raised his sword, gripping the hilt with his tentacles and palm. He took a step forward, the momentum as powerful as a mountain-shaking collision. The strength of all the joints in his body perfectly merged in this step. The sword slashed directly into the monster's maw, slicing through the black blood with a sharp blade light.

It was a slash of utter ferocity, the sound of the blade slashing like the cry of a hawk. Baimei's bite was merely the ferocity of a beast, but Chu Hengkong's slash was the brutality of a human. A sword technique created purely for the purpose of killing, the moment the blade was drawn, it was destined to sever life. The massive mouth that Baimei had transformed into was split diagonally in two, and a rotten black heart emerged from the depths of the broken body. Chu Hengkong leaned forward, the sinking blade piercing out like a spear, nailing the black heart to the wall!

Instantly, black blood spilled onto the ground, and Baimei's flesh and blood fell into his own blood. He could no longer regenerate or change, because the corrupted heart was the core of the fallen one's life, the source of the strange black blood.

Baimei's face was also severed, and the remaining half was filled with resentment and disbelief. His lips moved, uttering a final curse.

"The Maivia family...will not...let you go..."

"You're wrong." Chu Hengkong said coldly, "I won't let your family go."

He crushed the monster's face with one foot, then sheathed his knife and walked into the light. He knew that everyone on the street was looking at him, but he didn't care. He just smiled at the girl at the door of the building.

"It's okay." Chu Hengkong said softly, "Go home and sleep early."

"Thank you, Inspector!"

Tina bowed with tears in her eyes, then walked into the building carrying the puppy. Chu Hengkong extended his tentacles and rolled up a token from the black blood on the ground.

The reason they chose Baimei as their entry point for this operation was that their previous attempts to identify him had been fruitless, and they suspected he had some unknown means of entry and exit. Chu Hengkong wiped the blood off the token and placed it on the Silver Eyed Book. In a moment, he understood its purpose. His gamble had paid off.

He tossed the token behind him and caught it firmly in his leather-gloved hand.

"It's to teleport the relic and give it light."

Ji Huaisu was also present, of course. She was responsible for protecting the mother and daughter who served as bait, otherwise this risky plan would never gain public approval. She tried to shine her light shield on the token, and black mist emerged, transforming into a door leading to the interior of the club.

"Are you ready?"

"No problem." Chu Hengkong wiped the blood off the knife, "Let's get started."

The two walked through the fog door and entered the club.

The assassination operation officially began with the death of "White Eyebrow", the eldest son of the Maivia family.
