Chapter 26: One Hundred Days Left Before I'm Finished Being a Husband

Chapter 26: One Hundred Days Left Before I'm Finished Being a Husband

Lu Yanchuan's words seemed to be a joke, but anyone who knows him well will understand that he was not joking at all.

Shen Li's mind was still a little numb because of the previous high fever.

But upon hearing Lu Yanchuan's words, they quickly realized what he meant.

His expression immediately tensed up.

What was initially thought to be an accident turned out to be not an accident at all?

"This accident was indeed caused by human error."

Zhou Yan said, "The reduction in the number of staff in the equipment maintenance team in the factory is Chen Sihai's idea. He feels that the workload of the equipment maintenance team does not require so many people to complete."

Hearing this, Lu Yanchuan gave a cold smile. "Chen Sihai was bragging to me about how great things were going on, but what? The profits aren't even enough to support a full-strength production team?"

Shen Li recognized the Chen Sihai they were talking about as the one who had tragically died in the accident.

Lu Yanchuan's sharp tongue lived up to its reputation; he didn't even care about the taboo of respecting the dead.

Zhou Yan concluded, "The profits are still acceptable. Chen Sihai really made trouble out of nothing by releasing the news of layoffs. He probably wanted to encourage employees to take their work more seriously."

"But some employees are older and their work performance is not outstanding. They are really worried about being laid off. When they heard that a big boss was going to come down to inspect the work, they thought of causing some minor problems with the machines."

"This would have highlighted the importance of equipment maintenance, and perhaps we wouldn't have had to lay off employees. Who knew it would lead to such a tragedy?"

Zhou Yan briefly explained the ins and outs of the matter.

"The suspect was quickly identified, and the police have taken him away," Zhou Yan said.

Lu Yanchuan did not say anything after hearing this.

Zhou Yan was still waiting for his instructions, so she called out to him, "President Lu?"

Lu Yanchuan then looked up at him and said, "Go and find out who this person is and confirm whether it's really just a coincidence."

Shen Li had been listening attentively, leaning against a large cushion in a somewhat languid posture.

But upon hearing this, she suddenly sat up straight and looked up at Lu Yanchuan.

This statement suggests that he believes this so-called 'coincidence' or 'accident' might be orchestrated by someone behind the scenes.

Shen Li had been married to him for five years and had heard some things about the Lu family.

This deeply rooted family may not necessarily be as united, loving, and impregnable as it seems.

But if such a life-threatening event was planned, it would be terrifying.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Shen Li suddenly sit up straight.

Lu Yanchuan turned his gaze over.

With a casual, playful smile in his deep, handsome eyes, he asked in a deep, magnetic voice, "Scared again?"

Shen Li pursed her lips, unwilling to admit it.

After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Be careful."

"You won't die." Lu Yanchuan reached out and wiped a grain of porridge from the corner of her lips. "You still have a hundred days left to be my husband."

Hearing Lu Yanchuan's words, Shen Li frowned. What kind of time is this to be joking?

After eating her fill, Shen Li felt that she had recovered quite well and remembered her plan to go to the trade fair in town.

She was about to go to her room next door to change her clothes.

Before she could leave, her wrist was grabbed.

"Where to?" Lu Yanchuan looked down at her.

His eyelids are thin, and the distance between his eyebrows and eyes is very narrow, making his eyes appear exceptionally deep.

"Go back to your room and change your clothes."

"Going out?" Lu Yanchuan asked.

“Yes, there’s a trade fair, I’m planning to go check it out,” Shen Li said, pulling her hand back.

But when she looked up, she saw Lu Yanchuan's slightly furrowed brows.

"And what about me?" he asked.

"What?"

"And what about me?"

He asked the exact same question again.

Shen Li was stunned, not expecting Lu Yanchuan to ask such a question.

He had never asked that question in the past five years.

The head of the Lu family has a lot of businesses to manage, all sorts of things to do, and deals worth tens of millions every minute.

It took Shen Li five years to accept and understand that he would not accompany her in doing anything.

So much so that when Lu Yanchuan asked her, "What about me?"

Shen Li couldn't understand what he really meant.

She blinked, then belatedly realized that Song Xiaowan had already arrived in Lancheng.

Shen Li said calmly, "You can have Song Xiaowan accompany you shopping."

Shen Li even pondered for a moment and offered a suggestion: "The ceramics museum in Lancheng is quite good. You can make an appointment directly on their official WeChat account without having to queue."

But as soon as Shen Li finished speaking, Lu Yanchuan placed his hands on either side of her, encircling her within the range of his arms.

It carried a distinct sense of oppression.

"Are you jealous?" Lu Yanchuan asked.

Shen Li took a deep breath, bent down and crawled out from under his arm. "No, it was just a very pertinent suggestion. I'm going to change my clothes now. I won't delay going to the Haicheng auction tomorrow."

Lu Yanchuan watched her disappear into the room in a flash.

Zhou Yan tentatively asked, "Mr. Lu, would you like me to book tickets for the Lancheng Ceramics Museum?"

Lu Yanchuan glanced at Zhou Yan and said, "I'm increasingly convinced that you have low emotional intelligence."

Zhou Yan: "..." I'm finding it increasingly difficult to fathom the emperor's heart.

Zhou Yan coughed lightly and then asked, "Do you need me to check where that trade fair is located?"

"Looks like his emotional intelligence is still pretty good." Lu Yanchuan curled the corners of his mouth and went into the restroom.

Shen Li went back to her room, washed her hair and took a shower, and finally felt a little more alive.

As she changed her clothes and went out, she couldn't help but glance at the closed door of the next room.

Just as Shen Li had predicted, this ceramics exhibition and sales fair was indeed like a wholesale market.

Many of the people who went there were wholesalers or similar businesses specializing in hotel tableware.

Only Shen Li wandered around aimlessly, carrying a small notebook and occasionally scribbling and drawing with her head down.

Until she crashed headfirst into a hard chest.

Shen Li looked up blankly, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."

Her voice trailed off as she looked at the man before her, whose appearance seemed completely out of place in this setting.

"Why are you here?" Shen Li asked.

“Boring,” Lu Yanchuan said.

Before Shen Li could say anything, his gaze had already passed over her and looked at the booth next to her.

Shen Li only saw this guy's thin lips slightly pursed. Before Shen Li could react to what was going on, she heard this guy's deep and pleasant voice.

He said, "You dare to sell something this ugly? You just wanted to see these ugly things and left me alone in the hotel?"

They were standing very close to the booth! Although Lu Yanchuan didn't shout loudly, he didn't deliberately lower his voice either.

Upon hearing this, the sales staff at the nearby booth heard it clearly, and their expressions immediately changed.

Shen Li's eyes widened, and she quickly grabbed him with one hand and covered his mouth with the other.

He bowed apologetically to the sales staff and then pulled Lu Yanchuan out.

"You...!" Shen Li had just opened her mouth when she suddenly stopped, stunned.
